Grapnel attaches to her abdomen so she can hang like a real spider!
Yes, the grapnel claw is strong enough to hold her up, even if you just clamp it onto something. Notice how the claw isn't even all the way around the bar and still holds her up:
Transformation involves a lot of twisty bit, but fun. I especially love how her spider mandibles define/form her robot hips. It's a neat little tough. Otherwise she looks anorexic:
Grapnel can go on either hand, retracts at the push of a button. Also, the spider
legs behind her head have a joint in them, so they CAN flip forward over her shoulders to attack like in the cartoon. Not far, but they can.
The grapnel can also store on her back, facing either up or down. Up works if you want her hanging in robot mode, I prefer down for posing:
