Only fitting the guy that had his user title saying "Is gonna buy Big Daddy" for a month or two gets to start the feedback.

Big Daddy is a recolor of Cybertron Downshift. Downshift's feedback thread can be found here. I suggest reading the first post there, as I'll only be covering the differences between my Downshift and my Big Daddy.

If you liked Downshift, you'll love Big Daddy. It feels like an entirely new figure. I'm not one for repaints, but this is one case where I'm fine with it.

Muscle car mode is adorned with flames instead of the stripes Downshift has. The black with silver parts is pure love. Windows are a smokey clear color. Adding the launchers gives it more of a "Halloweeny" feel, but it still looks pimp. Like I said, it's almost like it's an entirely new mold.

Transformation is the same. Fairly straight forward but still fun. My Downshift's flaws (Claw gimmick wouldn't latch, other little things like that) really came out when I transformed it, but Big Daddy is perfect. (damn, that sounded a little wrong) Big Daddy's feet were a little harder to get out, but nothing major.

Robot mode feels like Halloween all over again. Big Daddy pulls it off really well, but that's what it made me think of. The head was worthy enough for its own shot, but the rest just gets comparisons.

If anyone wants to see anything else, I'm more than willing to take more pics. I'll be at Walmart again tomorrow, I'll probably get Jolt or Grindcore then.

BD looks nice. I'll buy one when I see it in a store.

Go for Grindcore first, as he's apparently shortpacked. And equally obscure Beast Wars 2 homages for the win!

Wow, it's as if Hasbro saw the KB Snowcat somewhere, decided to try it again, and this time did not massively fail. Big Daddy is P.I.M.P. Can't wait to find one tomorrow.

If I were to every get him, which current I plan not to, I will take out his "ears" so he looks less Wheeljacky.

Actually, my sources tell me Big Daddy AND Grindcore are shortpacked... Grindcore is 1 per case, BD is 2 per case... 9 figures in a case. Yes, Grindcore is more shortpacked, but they are both in fact shortpacked. Wasn't sure how I felt about Grindcore, actually. Jolt actually got to walk around the store with me before I decided against it (but I'm headed back tomorrow for a crock pot)
You won't regret buying it if you do end up buying it... Pull a slightly shady move and return it if you don't like it.

Yep (they've been out like a week, so it isn't news)... From what I hear, they had 5 cases yesterday. They were down to just under two when I went today. LMK if you want me to pick them up for you (or anyone else, just let me know what I need to see if they have)

I went out last night to only one walmart and they had all these in an endcap and all were heavily available. I got four big daddy's and 2 grindcores and a Jolt for me n' my two brothers, and there was more than plenty still in the stands, which had actually been depleted by about half.

As for BD, yeah he totally rocks Downshift. I really liked the mold before and with his sweet new paint, like Soundblaster said, he's pimp!

Plenty of Grindcore and Big Daddy at mine, the others were more shortpacked. Might have been previous purchasers though.

Just checked out the TFU.info listing for Big Daddy. I'm quite surprised at what a strong homage to the Micromaster it actually is. You'd think it was some kind of convention exclusive. :)

Raargh! Wish I could find these guys! I plan to get all 4 -- I just hope Divebomb's left arm doesn't suffer from floppitis like Cyb Skywarp's.

    Nine per case? That's weird.

I'm trying to make a PIMP plate for him... this is about all I got so far
Interesting... Maybe it varies by location?
Like Walmart isn't a convention in and of itself :D
Yes, 9 per case. This d00d doesn't lie about stuff like that. It seemed odd to me, too, until I saw how it could have worked. I don't think I'll get all 4 (Divebomb is too ugly) but I might at least get one more...

Well, Mr. Sources, I've read those posts too. :p  And seeing as you have Big Daddy and he's still in greater quantities than Grindcore, he's more shortpacked than (meh) Jolt or (bleh) Divebomb.

I picked up all four of them tonight. I'll give a mini-review:

Big Daddy - The best of the four. Despite the figure's poor posibility, this really is a great toy. The homage is almost spot on, and I think it actually works better for BD then it did Downshift. This is the must get figure of this set.

Jolt - I still like the semi-Alternators transformation and look to this figure, but he really doesn't add much over Crosswise. The colors are a little off, but still work pretty good for the G2 homage. My only concern was that the mold felt a little worn out. Makes we wonder what condition the Botcon counterparts will be like after the forth and fifth use for this guy.

Divebomb - Great paint job in jet mode, and I like the idea of a seeker who's not really wanted (per his bio). The gun-arm on mine is somewhat tight, and didn't really flop around as long as I didn't put him in certain poses. I know this mold has a bad wrap, but overall he's worth getting.

Grindcore - While a good figure overall, his paintjob kinda puts me off. It's not the Devastator green, since that matches with his BW2 counterpart. It's the front of his scoop painted with silver and crimson. It looks like he's been shoveling dead bodies around all day. If this was a Constructicon, I'd be fine with that, but it looks really weird on an Autobot.

I have a feeling the only reason Grindcore is an Autobot is that the Landmine mold had a molded 'bot symbol.

    Nice pics!

I haven't seen anything new at retail for a long time. I wonder if I'll ever see this figure in person....

I just picked up Big Daddy barely an hour ago. Hooray for 24-Hour Wal-Marts! Even though I wanted this repaint since Downshift was released, I was a little hesitant when I had him in hand because I already have Downshift. But I got Big Daddy anyway and I'm very impressed with him. None of his joints are floppy. They're all nice and tight (especially his right heel).

I had heard reports of sloppy paint apps. And while there are little spots here and there on his head, tail lights, and running boards, none of them are bad enough to scream poor quality control. The worst it gets is two little spots of black showing through on the center of his forehead.

Even though he's part of the movie toyline, I'm thinking of making him Classics Big Daddy. I wonder if there's a TF out there with a better resemblance to G1 Big Daddy whose head I can borrow.

    Wow.

I finally had the opportunity to open and play around with Big Daddy. I feel so ashamed after-the-fact for keeping such an awesome toy MISB, even if only for a day.

I never got Cybertron Downshift, shame on me, so everything about Big Daddy was new. And positive. Not even one ball joint but articulation almost everywhere there should be, and lack of waist articulation is not unusual among his "fellow" Movie toys. No crippling Cyber Key gimmick, and the opening flap for the key was an incredible touch. Missile launchers are great in hands, on shoulders, or even on the car in robot mode! Head is great and Wheeljack's ear flaps are practically invisible. Colors, of course, are perfect. Paint apps quality? There was a small smear of silver on a door, but I scraped it off, and am sure BD appreciated me cleaning up his slick paint job. :)

No surprise, this toy is a winner, regardless of whether or not you like Movie toys. BUY IT.

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to see if it's possible for me to do the head fix with what little I have...

EDIT: Can't, requires a Dremel or drill, and I'm not getting either. It's not like Big Daddy sucks without a rotating head, so I won't worry about it.
