Any chance of a new or updated waist mod thread? The last thread still exists, but without any instructions actually on this site whatsoever, only a dead link to instructions at the Allspark.

Yeah, I've got a dremel myself, but I was doing the mods when I got home from work and the little one was still asleep.

All you do is unscrew the waist. It won't come apart , but you can make it sort-of pry at this point. then, at the back of the waist, you make a cut so that you sever the pin in side the back half, and you can also clear away some plastic that will hit when you try to rotate the waist. I can't really write a proper tutorial without pics, but I don't have any pics, other than if you were to look at my Classics Wildrider, which is under Classics Menasor in the Gallery... you probably can see a decent shot of the back of the waist after its been modded.

Sounds more complicated than what I'd be willing to do, anyway. Although I've done risky mods before, such as in the process of correcting Hasbro's stupidity with Buzzclaw.

It doesn't take long. I'd say it took me 15 minutes total to do both mods to mine.

i got him last night and love him..this mold is awesome, and the clear color plastic they used makes his 'ears' non really visible to me, so it looks like a completely different head. i was thinking of selling downshift, but think i'll just keep both instead....

Mine has paint scrapes all over the purple on his face. :(

I'm thinking of just repainting it, rather than returning him. Less hassle.

I got my hands on Big Daddy and Jolt today while waiting for the Smash Bros Brawl release. I almost didnt find Big Daddy (they were on an endcap, but they were HEAVILY mixed in with normal movie figures. Tons of Payloads) but in the end I saw all 4 of the exclusives. I didnt own either of these in Cybertron so they were both new experiences for me.

Big Daddy was about what I expected. Moderate posability, awesome vehicle mode, nice G1-esque design style. Pretty good gimmicks/weapons too, make his poses look better than they do on their own. I liked Downshift's green colors, cos they made sense on a retro vehicle, and he seemed to have more paint aps on the legs, but Big Daddy's homage is perfectly accomplished. I dont own a dremel so I wont be doing the waist and neck mods, but I'm considering unscrewing his head to take out the ear flaps. Unlike some, the purple face doesnt bother me, and mine features no paint scratches (that I could notice anyway).

Jolt is really nice. I LOVE the color scheme. And the transformation wasnt nearly as bad as I expected. I got him back into vehicle mode without consulting the instructions. Basically, once you have the roof lined up with the back of the car, you realize where the other arm goes. Much more intuitive than, say, Alternators Skids. I love the amount of weapons he has (if you include the 'rail guns'). His posability is mostly better than Big Daddy's, with the ball joints and all, though the kibble is a bit more restrictive.

Two very nice figures that make me wish I hadnt missed so much of Cybertron. Big Daddy will definitely be stepping into my Classics Autobots. I'm not sure if I'm going to put Jolt with the Decepticons (G2 and G1 are the same timeline so he could be a Classic) or with Cybertron, but either way I'm glad to own him

Big Daddy is pretty cool. I like the color scheme a lot and the homage is totally from left field which I like as well. Definitely worth the buy if you have a spare $10 lying around.

Got BD at Anime North 2009, along with Universe-2.0 Cyclonus, and a pretty neat commission by Alex Milne:

I hadn't bought this mould before - I tend not to like buying more than one, and I never cared for Downshift too much - so he's new to me, and he's pretty cool!

A vehicle mode comparison, with Classics Rodimus:

He's really cool looking as a car, both with and without the extra kibble - plus being able to fold down the key port is a great touch.

    Now, in biomech mode:

He's not all that poseable, but it's ok - he still looks kinda cool!

    Alongside Rodimus, again.

And alongside Cyclonus and Nightstick, for good measure.

I like the idea that this fig is a larger trans-tector for the Micromaster - and conveniently, not only is the chest a good size to imagine the Micromaster being mounted in (the figure can't do this, of course, but how and ever) but the way the claw thing in the chest deploys could be re-worked (in a story, at least) to represent where, and how, the smaller form connects and detaches.

Overall, he's pretty cool, and he helped inspire a whole angle to a future fic that I hadn't considered up to now!

    So, well done, Big Daddy...

it's super duper easy to add the ability to rotate his waist and his head, which gets him to where he's only missing arm rotation really, from having perfect articulation. :)  Tutorials available in Radicons.

Big Daddy necros are the most acceptable necros. Thanks for the pics, and the reminder that I still need to track one of these down someday. This mold remains one of my top favorite TFs of all time.
