He's awesome. Took me a sec to figure out how to lock his torso into place in robot mode and how to position his arms in jet mode (no instructions), but I got it done! Quote:

Rather than cooperate with Hasbro's asinine release schedule for Animated toys, I've decided to go with a more direct approach and acquire some of these new toys through alternative methods. Probably cost a little bit of my soul in the process, but what do I care- never used the damn thing anyway.
Starscream has always been one of my favorite characters, and I've been extremely interested in his latest counterpart since images were first seen. And now he's mine!
In keeping with ever-present tradition, Starscream is a jet. His primary color is a mild blue as opposed to the usual white, making the "I look like Thundercracker" joke resurface again. It's a very sleek jet; the overall design is somewhat reminiscent of Armada Starscream, only heavily streamlined and smoothed out.
Robot mode contains most of the trademark Starscream elements- wings on back, jets in feet, arm-mounted (missile-launching) cannons, and a nosecone chest. He's unusually thin for a Voyager-sized toy.
Starscream has been noted by fans and detractors alike as having a massive chin, leading some to call this new version "Lenoscream."
The head on this one seems to be the most difficult piece to work with; it pops off easily when transforming and is very difficult to get back on. This may be a single-specimen problem or may be due to my improperly applied technique.
Animated Starscream has a wide range of motion in both legs and arms, including cross-articulation in his fingers.
I think this new Starscream's a great figure, but if you're among the members who choose to hate Animated for whatever reasons, then you might as well save your money for your precious "GeeWun" nostalgia. Having no reasons to live is no reason not to live. http://tokuke.wordpress.com// |

The head on mine has no trouble staying on throughout the entire process. If anything it's on too tight and is hard to turn in robot mode. Quote:

This may be a single-specimen problem or may be due to my improperly applied technique. | I had the same problem the first couple of days. When I was transforming him from robot to alt mode, when I put the arms next to eachother the head popped off constantly. Then I found out I was clicking the head back in to the wrong side. You can pop him in while he's looking a little to the left or a little to the right (from his point of view). You have to let him look to the right. Problem solved, head stays on! Home is where my collection is! |

News Credits: 2 | didnt expect to get this guy amongst my first few but was pleasantly surprised. i like his alt mode better in person than in pics, getting his arms and legs in position in plane mode is a bitch the 1st try but love the bot mode.
not perfect since i find the placement of the arms in plane mode kibble-y, but prolly best mainline SS since the cybertron version. |

Jet mode: I can't make the top line up correctly, but it's still fine... One of the better jet TFs I've owned.
Transformation: Pain in the ass going bot to jet. Jet to bot wasn't as bad. Fairly complex and satisfying at the same time.
Bot Mode: AWESOME. It's the d00d that's on the TV, only in my hand.
No problems here... If anything, it made me like Animated.
EDIT: This thread needs more pics. |

It's a little frustrating, but nothing I can't live with. Transforming him to robot mode is fun, though; he just looks SO damn cool when everything swings into place.
I had the same problem with his head as well; it pops back in fine, but does seem to like popping out when you turn his head. I have to say, I LOVE how his eyes are actually painted as well as light piped; they look great when there's light behind him. It's also a nice touch that the triggers for his missiles are on the back of his launchers in robot mode, so you don't even notice them. All in all, he's a superb toy. |

On the whole, I think I'll be passing on most of the Animated line, not because I don't like the style, but because with a limited budget, I'd rather stick to figs that fit in aesthetically with most of the rest of my collection. To be honest, I think with a simple head swap, this guy could easily look like a slightly futuristic normal 'Screamer, with pretty much the best articulation (so it would appear) of any SS mould we've had.
Yes. I want.
