So far, the fan reaction to this repaint has been extremely positive. I also think this is a beautiful repaint, and really shows that if Hasbro tries really hard, they can come up with attention-to-detail that can go punch-for-punch with alot of the customs out there.

I'm sad they didn't paint the Leader Megatron like this, but hopefully the Premium line will include the Leader Megatron in the future.

In the meantime, what does everyone think of the Best Buy exclusive Voyager Megs? All shiny and everything...

My Best Buy got a TON in today, grabbed a Megatron. Really stunning... I was on the fence about him, but after seeing him in person I snagged one and took back my blue Megs (kept the receipt after the metallic was announced).

Fits in much better with the other Decepticons now, instead of being this bright beacon in the center of my shelf.

 

Just be greatful you live in a great, free country that sells TFs and has free medical care.

i still dislike the transformation and the alt mode. but the ice isn't as bad looking and the paint is worth picking up. dry rush some silver on his face and black parts and it goes along way. also painted his silly claws silver too.

 

Is BB Megs worth getting? I'm on the fence considering it's going to be $30 minimum because I don't have a Best Buy locally and I already have Leader Megs.

 

No. Voyager Megs is the worst movie Megsatron mold out there. Leader Megs is probobly the best.

No, I wouldn't recommend it. (that's what I did) Especialy if you already have Leader Megs. I'd say spend the money on a can of dark silver Spray paint instead.

I have to disagree with Split Lip on all accounts and make your decision a little harder. The Voyager is more streamlined, compact, and accurate in some aspects. Its imo more fun to play with and better articulated in the sense that its more dynamic. The leader version lacks a good waist and head joint, and it has fixed ankles.

Imo, the only thing the Leader Class does better is it has fantastic looking wings, a more complex transformation, and it doesnt have the ice.

However, the Voyager is half the price, and the leader Megs isn't metallic. The paintjob completely makes the figure, if you can get around the ice effects and the springy feet. Its delightfully shiny with a blackwash, red eyes, and white ice. Imo its stunning, and even though I thought i'd never pickup the mold, I just had to have it once i saw it.

I liked the original blue version for many of the same reasons, but the paint detailing on the BB version just puts it above and beyond most Transformers. Its not worth it to ruin a leader class figure with a hand-done spraypaint job that will just leave a mess on something so complex with parts that are hard to disassmble (like the chest).

Now, if they released a metallic leader class, the leader class would win hands down, although i'd still be bitching over the lack of a neck joint  

 

I like him, so very, very much...

 

Actually in my case the voyager is almost what I paid for the leader. Damn lack of Best Buy

The Voyager is nowhere near as accurate as the Leader. The Voyager also has severely limited play value do to lack of functions. It's not streamlined, or if by streamlined you mean laying down. Also, it's not much more poseable than the Leader version except the head. Speaking of which, Atleast the leader version covers the face in vehicle mode, but there's nothing covering the head in vehicle mode on the Vyrg ver. (I expect the ice was supposed to do that, but it did a pretty shitty job.

The leader version has almost every detail replicade in both forms, from the complete chest and shoulders, the hands, the vehicle wings, the forward protrusions in vehicle form and not to mention the legs.

I admit, the leader class deserves a metallic (or even dark silver) paint job (I painted mine similar to this one long ago). The head doesn't bother me, and I don't see how it could bother anyone to the point where they'd buy the horrid voyager version. Plus, Leader's bigger, which automaticaly makes him worth getting over the smaller, weaker mold.


In the three days I owned Voyager Megs, I just didn't find what was so fun with him. He looked awful, and had no wow factor. Leader M,egs arrived with Leader Prime the next day, and I honestly couldn't understand why anyone would want the Voyager.

 

I mean streamlined as in it doesn't have a giant square dumpster chest and overly wide/unarticulated feet in robot mode, among other things like the things hanging off the arms. If you are talking about the jet mode, how can you say that when the Leader has huge leg blocks hanging under the wings?

A waist joint or neck joint are essential for anykind of dynamic poseability, or anything beyond the "standing there looking forward with one arm raised" pose. The leader lacks both of these, crippling any kind of dynamic stance.

The leader has one little tab that covers the nose and chin. Granted its more than the Voyager has but they both do a pretty shitty job of covering the head.

The Voyager has accurate arms, shoulders, legs and feet, except the feet aren't duckfeet. I'll give you the jet mode protrusions, and the wings, both of which look fantastic on the leader but are nonesistant/craptastic on the voyager

I prefer a smooth factory finish instead of my own homemade spray-job with inconsistent spray paint that rubs off in the cracks or didn't cover completely thanks to parts being multilayered and difficult to take apart. Although if you are a pro with an airbrush and a pair of pliers then it becomes a moot point.

You mean like Energon Prime and giant Starscream? Anyways, I prefer the Voyager because he fits in with some figures better, like Starscream, Blackout, and Voyager Prime (which imo is the better prime). Thats a personal call, though, because the Leader looks great with figs like Bumblebee, Jazz, Barricade, and so on. When it comes to scale, the movie line is all over the place so its stupid to argue over it.

Aside from the reasons mentioned above, he's cheaper, and looks stunning with metallic paint, which at this point leader Megs doesn't have right out of the box.

If the Leader had the same paintjob, I might be inclined to agree that its the superior figure and get over the waist and neck joint. But imo I think the molds balance each other out enough to the point where the BB paintjob kicks that figure into #1

I guess you don't own the Leader version. Because you honestly can't say he can't acheive dynamic poses. He has 21 points of artciulation, six of which include his fingers. Now you're just being silly.

It is a moot point. But I do think the BB Megs just went a little too dark with the metallic. Though the red eys are deffinately an improvement.

No, because they were scaled up molds. Leader and Voyager MEgs are two completely different molds.

I have nothing against Voyager Prime, other than he doesn't fit with any of the Autobots. But Leader Megs is closest to being in scale with all the standard movie cast. (Deluxe Bee, Jazz, Ratchet, IH, Ldr Prime, Ldr Brawl, SS, Barricade and Scorponok) Plus, Leader Megs is more in scale with Voyager Prime than Voyager Megs. (Movie Megs was like, 5 feet taller than prime and way bigger)

He still looks horrid with all that ice. Especialy with the metallic paint. IMO, Voyager Megs works much better with the grey and Leader Megs should've gotten the Metallic. Hopefully Hasbro will pull there collective heads out of there asses and realize that.

The leader truely deserves a metallic paint job as much if not more than Vygr, the simple answer being that Voyagers sell better. And they really don't balance anything out, as Leader Megs is still a much stronger mold than Voyager. I can't imagine BB Megs to be any fun to play with, since that paint would scratch and chip far too easily. Really, If you want to get a fair comparison, just think what you'd want more:

A fun figure who's get for play/display with your other figures who you like to fiddle with. Leader Megs fits the bill.

Or, do you want a figure that is really only good for leaving in it's box and admiring the fact that Hasbro probobly wont ever put as much effort into a paint job like this ever again. Plus, you could always put it next to regular voyager Megs and make it look way better.


I give BB Megs A+ for effort, A for presentation, C- for product.

I give Leader Megs A for effort, C- for presentaion and A+ for product.


Still technically, Leader Megs is the most accurate in terms of design, sculpt, relative scale, and even colour. (based on this render)

 

If you're not a fan of the Voyager Megatron mold, this one won't be changing your mind. Personally, I like it a little better. If you do like the Voyager version, the Best Buy exclusive is pretty much the most ass-kickingest it could look (by paintwork alone). The standard version looks like a ghost next to the metallic one.
