i dunno, i wasn't a fan of the mold and the paint made it worth buying. since then Ive painted him up a bit more (silver dry brushing on the black parts does WONDERS, esp for the face) and disassembled the body ice. when i have money for a dremel and some fixit, ill work on getting rid of the wing ice and making a new chest piece out of the chest ice. for now i just have it removed and made a passable chest piece to fill the slot..

After some de-icing, silver paint, and a little apoxie, the voyager Megs mold never looked better. :thumb

I liked voyager Megs to begin with, but this paint job kicks all kinds of ass. Grade A toy. Nice job Hasbro!

I got lucky with that one, IMO- the rest didn't turn out as well as that one did...
But, here are some others I'd taken of BBY Voyager Megs:

Here he is being all 'buddy- buddy' with Robovision Prime:
And introducing BBY Ratchet as well...

I know the last few don't pertain to the thread per-say, but I thought I'd throw them out there anyways! If anyone else has better quality photographs of Megs, feel free to throw them out here!

I really like the figure. I was originally going to pass on Megatron completely... But decided that I should at least pick the Voyager figure, and waited for this figure to come out... This guy here is the reason why I might just pick up Leader Megatron...

    Woo pics!

    Head Shot

I opted for removable wings. Make him a little more accurate. Oh yeah, red for evil!

Wings are on in this shot. Painted the hands.'

    Rawr!

Now I just have to fill in the chest, and we're done.

Got this toy the other day and wow I must say despite being probably the weakest Movie Voyager in the line this paint really does help a lot. What's really a shame is that this is really what both the Leader and Voyager Megs should have been painted in the beginning. The silver paint makes a huge difference and even when looking at it inside in the box before I cracked it open it really did look movie accurate. What's great about this version as well is it's not just Meg's with silver paint they really did add a lot of small touches to it as well especially in the face. I find how they retouched it up it looks much more movie accurate as well and the red eyes make him look much more menacing. Another aria they tweaked was the legs. From the looks of it they kinda panel-lined it on the inside to really bring out a more robotic look to them. Those were the three major changes but they also put in a few dabs here and there that make him look better overall as well.

Anyway overall I really like this toy. Most will complain how much the mold sucks and all that but after taking photo's back in August of the regular version a few months back it's really not THAT bad. This version to me is really the definitive version of movie Megatron. The silver paint really brings out a a lot in this toy and seeing it now in person it really does look like Megatron from the film unlike the regular version. So if your looking for a movie accurate Megatron this is a must buy for sure as its just that. After seeing what the silver does to this toy it would be awesome to see it eventually on the Leader version as it really does make him look much more impressive despite some flaws in the actual toy itself.

That's one of the problems I have with this new metallic colour sceme. It's not movie accurate. With the render, he is really a grey-silver with a slight blueish hue. (actually, the original colour sceme is more accurate)

But in mission city, all the dark alleys and lighting make his colour difficult to distinguish. But technically, he was more accurate before. Leader Megs is the most accurate in terms of the shade of grey, if only that horrid blue wasn't there. Maybe with the premium line he'll get his.

This render is the best, as it only has basic lighting so the colour is easily seen.

Wrong. The final Megatron render was that odd copper/silver hue, not the bluish grey. Not only is this evidenced by the movie and even the game, but also because the three Final CGI posters had him in those colors, though the head was in standard mode (you know, the insanely detailed and big Prime/Bumblebee/Megs posters that were updated versions of the old promotional posters).

    Wrong.
This clearly shows his metal is a silver/reflective mettallic blue, and that the evening sun and surroundings just make it look darker and more copper from certain angles.

If I could, I'd post a screen shot from when he busts out of the white statued building, he is clearly mettalic blue-ish silver. I'd post on of the screen shot when he breaks free of sector seven, but there's blue lights in the back so it wouldn't be fair.:)

Does anyone know how to take screen shots from DVDs with Windows media player? I've tried but I can't get it to work. In the mean time thanks to Solid Alexei for posting the screen shot, hope you don't mind.:)

Iiiiiiiiinteresting. I always assumed he was just some shade of copper; never noticed it like this. It was probably wacky lighting later on that made him look like that color. Thanks for showing me that.

Here's the thing. Original voyager Megs is molded in robin egg blue and painted with more blue, and a pittance of black details. Best Buy voyager Megs in molded in grey plastic, painted shiny silver all over, and has a ton of black detailing. Frankly the plastic color and complete detailing by itself makes this superior, the shiny paint is a mere small bonus.

As opposed to Best Buy ratchet, who is the same color as the original under that shiny paint, and the detailing is identical as far as I can tell. So the Ratchet is much less of a gotta-buy version.

And then I saw a photo of the upcoming Target shiny Starscream. Same issue there, the original is made of beige plastic, not the color of a military jet at all. The shiny one will win just by virtue of being grey, shiny or no.

Megs showed up today... Haven't opened it yet, not sure I will, either.

I am impressed with how sinister it looks in the packaging. I really like how Hasbro went above and beyond with this.

The only real way I would agree about Megs being any particular color is to see his texture maps before any lighting and reflections are applied. Unless we have an ILM guy come fourth and state it officially, or release those textures, none of us really know for sure. My best guess though would be a reflective chrome. You would be amazed at how colors change depending on their environment- light bounces and picks up the hue of the object it bounces off of, and it just looks like Megs is reflecting his environment in almost all pics I see him in. I am sure they provide some amount of environment to refelct on him even when we see publicity renders where he actually isn't in any environment just to make him look better.

Decided to open it, and I don't regret it. The leg ice can be used to "fix" the foot problem fairly easily, and there isn't really anything wrong with the figures itself... The Voyager Megs mold does feel more child oriented, but it works. No complaints here.

This version is way better looking than the original, and I like it enough in that sweet plastic container that he's stayin in there at least for a while.

This was in the box with a CL lot I bought. I never had it... I was always curious about it. What do I think?

This is by far the most dumbass transformers toy I have handled in a looking time. Hell... It may take the cake. I just shake my head at how damn bad this one is. It's PATHETIC. I'm struggling to find a transformer as bad as this.

When my son and me pulled it out of the box, we both said "MMMMEGATRON!" with excitement! As soon as we touched it it was like we just contracted cooties and knew it. It sucks so bad, if you scratch the plastic is smells like pigshit.

You get the impression right? My 6 year old.. And myself hate this abysmal excuse for a Megatron toy.

Nice backpack douchebag. You can pull a lever in the back, and make his wingpack (half of the toy) act and some sort of pincers or some shit? Hell if I know what they were thinking.

So you wanna transform? No prob. Lay down and put your arms up. It IS that bad. Look at it from the side and you will see Megatron laying with his arms all superman, and a wingpack 3/4" away from the body. This does not in any way look anything like the movie jet.

Oh yea.. Its got ice on it... The whole figure is so bad you can even overlook that.

But mode resembles the cgi model... Besides his massive douchepack on his back. And the nose of the jet on one arm. I could forgive the arm, if the STUPID FEET WOULD ALOT IT TO STAND! Jeesh... It has the rotf fallen type spring feet, but unlike the fallen, these don't work. If a terrorist held a gun to my head and said "make this toy stand or I'll kill you" I would say "fuck it.. Shoot.. I dont even wanna touch that bag of shit".

I finally got one of these. I'm saving you guys that never had one pain. Feel me here... Stay away from this like herpes. Just put it in your head, if you touch on of these, it will burn for the rest of your life, just to save you any disappointment.

As for the future of this toy... Even though it's the "premium" version... To hell with this thing. I will kill it with violence. When spring hits, and the big 2nd amendment day comes, I will make a video of this getting a direct shot in the chest with a Barret .50. It WILL be glorious, and I will chuckle like a mad man.

I cant recall the last time I hated a transformer this much. It's that bad.. Its that pathetic.. It goes to show how far stuff has come since 07. Even my son, who never says anything like this about toys, said "dad.. This one sucks.."

    Stupid ass toy...

LOL- hilarious! I almost took the bait many times. There's a sealed one in my local comic shop for $45. It's been there for over a year :p
