Hi! I'm in Japan again for another business trip and guess what? I scored big time! I just got this really cool Diaclone Ultramagnus! I was really happy to find it in one of the stores at Akihabara near Kotobukiya. I also saw a lot of good hard to find G1 toys and exclusive there but I had my eye on this for the longest time. I like it the first time I saw it on the Net and I was so desperate that I went to eBay just to get this but they were mindblowingly expensive. I jut these far less than on eBay, plus its MISB!

Ok you know I'm not going to let it stay trapped inside its box so here goes... hope you like it.

    Packaging...
No different from G1 Takara nor Hasbro reissue UM. The only difference is really the sticker.

Out of the box its really good looking. I like the blue color it makes sense.

    Cab and trailer...

Again the blue color scheme shines... I'm just wondering how come they never made this color scheme to some of the Ultramagnus figures released like Revoltechs and Classics. I bet it will look good using this color scheme. The cab alone is an eye candy...its really amazing how a different color can make a BIG DIFFERENCE.

    and finally... Ultramagnus in armor!

This figure has got to be one of the best repaints of Ultramagnus/Optimus Prime ever! I know there is still one exclusive -- the Shining Ultramagnus which is much rare since only 800 were made as far as I know but nevertheless, if you're looking for a good Ultramagnus then this is it!

If you get a chance to go to Japan...you may get lucky. Otsukaresamadesu! Arigatougozaimasu!

Note: No photoshopping or enhancements were made to the pictures except for size reduction. They are raw...just the way I like 'em.

Man that's really beautiful.. I feel like such an idiot missing out on all these cool repaints...

How much did you get him for? Also, where exactly was this store? In the same building as Kotobukiya (across from the Electric Town exit)? Or was it that little store in the alley next to the Kotobukiya building?

More or less $150 or so its a good catch. I believe its in the same building as Kotobukiya there are many stores there I was just strolling when my eye caught this and said to my self...lucky me! I even saw a loose Shining Ultramagnus at a low price you wont believe... but its not complete and I never liked the color yellow on Prime/Magnus. Thanks! Hope you get lucky too!

I got this figure and the Shining Magnus one at the same time. Both are still MISB, and althought I've been wanting them for so long, there's a small part of me that doesn't want to open them.

Nice catch, that's surely the highlight of any collection. Are Transformers hot sellers in Japan right now?

Yes they are HOT! I've encountered a lot of scalpers too... movie toys seems to be at a high price while older ones are a bargain compared to eBay right now. I saw TF Collection 00 for $120 but I already have one so money saved for me. MP-05 is the hottest toy here. Saw a loose Shining Magnus for a mere Y2000....I also saw a lot of stocks of leader class prime and voyager prime in a store called Yodobashi.
