Looked around, didn't see a thread for the Best Buy metallic Ratchet (or Megatron) here, so I thought I'd start one.

So what does everyone think? I skipped out on the original Voyager-version because I wanted to see if they would come up with a more movie-accurate paint scheme. So, how does it look in person, any comparison pics someone could share?

 

Yeah I was holding out on buying a voyager Megatron in hopes of getting the Best Buy exclusive, but no luck. Scalpers win again. =\

 

I don't think it was scalpers. It was just Best Buy getting small shipments. 2 of each figure, go figure (no LOL's intended). I'll definitely get BB Megatron even if I have the original, but Ratchet only gets to be bought if he's more accurate.

 

I was toally gonna get BB Rachet becuase i dont like the original and i want the most movie accurate as possible but they had none around where i live...what gives?

 

Well I picked both up this morning along with the Robot Heroes for the fiancee and the kinda decent lithograph...I got there at 9am and store didn't open until 10 and there was a line behind me of about 15 people by 9:45. My BB was only allowing one exclusive, per toy, per customer which was great, except that they only got 5 of each so they went pretty quickly. Now onto the good stuff....

IMHO, Metallic Megatron freekin rocks! He's got red eyes and he looks like someone did a serious custom job on him, think Jin Saotome good! Pictures do not do the toy justice. He looks like the evil incarnate that he is with the silvery bronzed paint, black details and the ice has even grown on me. It's all one shade of clear (oxymoron) but it also has a silvery tint to it which really makes it stand out... I haven't taken him out of the box yet, but having him up to the light just makes him all the more menacing and impressive. I held out on the regular voyager because it just looked stupid and if that and leader megs were my choices, then my movie cons were gonna be bossless with leader brawl as their "2nd" in command, but if you have a chance to snag one of these then I highly recommend it! METALLIC MEGATRON FTW!!!

IMOHO, Metallic Ratchet also rocks but for different reasons. He is a rescue vehicle with a new paint job that really says "I'm a rescue vehicle." Almost reflective in the sense of firetrucks and ambulances. Even the paint for the PIAA lights and the red light bar are metallic. I'm not as impressed with this one as megatron because all in all, it's a straight repaint and there are no color changes that I can see. But, the metallic really brings out a lot of details that the plain green on the original did not. Still a recommended buy if you didn't get the first one or like me, you happen to like shiny things.

 

It seems like I should get both. Though Voyager Megatron is here with me, I got him because he has a blueish scheme, and the metallic has a silver. Ratchet and regular Ratchet don't seem to have a difference, so I'll just get one, the metallic.

 

Best Buy Ratchet is awesome.

I've been holding off on him for a while, but $15 if you bought the DVD with him was a pretty fair price.

 

I totally didnt like any of the dull blue megatrons but one look at this guy this morning and I had to have it I could see it shining from across the store. and in person the shiny silver the black and the red really make him pop. All for only 15 buxs with the dvd. The Ice even looks better

 

I really want one of those Megatrons... Too bad I don't have a Best Buy near me... (or cash)

I walked into my Best Buy at 10 AM and they had two Megatrons and one Ratchet left. So I grabbed a Megatron but skipped the Ratchet. After wandering around for a few more minutes I realized I better get that Ratchet too. So I did ;-)

One of each in minty condition. They're quite nice. The display is well done and I like how they're shown in robot mode instead of vehicle mode.

 

the bestbuy i got my megatron from didnt even have price stickers on them, looked like they just came out of the case, they had about 15-20 of each when they openned.

 

me too! I'm happy for it... I don't like price tags still on the boxes... anywho yeah I haven't opened megs but I am so glad I got him. One of the coolest looking figures in the movie line.

 

Can anyone post pics of both Ratchets side-by-side?

 

Can anyone who has the Ratchet tell if the mis-colored door issue was fixed for this fig? The original had a noticably lighter shade of green on the driver and passenger doors, it was kind of annoying.

 

The doors match the body, the only problem with mine is the rear "doors and bumpers" fall off everytime I transform him. I was not in a rush to open him and clipped him out but that twist tie did the trick making them easy to fall off. Even his arms were not hooked to his body right out if the package.

Megs didn't have this issue except one eye was fully red while the other only half painted, so I took the head off and removed the screws and fixed it with some touch up. I never bought the normal blue but this ones color style sold me on this figure!

Over all, Best Buy had a great deal, I went in just to get the 2 pack for a friend (mini figures and meg pic for me) saw them and was shocked how nice the voyager figures looked repainted so I bought both. $14.99 each was a great deal when the normal one goes for 19.99 so I was like ok sold lol. They had 6 of each and the saleswoman was very nice about the whole deal.

 

I will agree, the Metal Finish Megatron looks great. Very nicely done. Still not a fan of the ice, but it is not as pronounced on this version.
