So while browsing eBay, I stumbled upon, like I'm sure we all have, bootlegs. Sometimes these things are just horrible attempts at recreating one of many Transformers, but, like the one I bought today, some are actually remolds with some very faint differences. I stumbled upon Megatron, a G1 remake, and bought it for $15.00 US. Roughly $30.00 Canadian after shipping charges, it arrived within 4 days of buying it, which in my opinion, is the fastest thing I've ever gotten in the mail! Anyhoo, I have some pics and a review for this baddie, because I've been having loads of fun. As you can see, the mold is the exact same, and besides the orange cap, and lack of decals, they're just identical. Only other difference I noticed was the Walther P-38 engraved in the side is now gone. And of course, this bootleg comes with all the original accessories Megatron has to offer, which is pretty dang neat for 15 bucks! Black face but...eh. Still good! Even has his gun and sword, and some bullets that won't launch (I think it wasn't legal for it to actually shoot objects) Overall, it's a good buy for $15.00 if you're willing to make some sacrifices, but even then, a good painter, and repro label's decal's can really pimp this bootleg out. Check it out on eBay, he won't dissapoint if you don't bring in enough $$ like me to enjoy the real deal!
holy **** I'm about to try my shot at getting a pepsi optimus prime and BOOM this pops up and I actually still find it being sold on ebay. you just blew my mind. I actually bought one of these a couple of years ago, and it held up pretty well. Mine even came with a purple painted Decepticon matrix.
He took forever to arrive compared to the time I bought something from Hong Kong but besides the looseness he is AWESOME!!!! Edit: bleh, mine cost $24... w/e
One thing I've always wondered with this particular KO Megs...die-cast or plastic? I have a KO Megs that I got maybe three or four years ago, but it wasn't the Code007 one - didn't come with any accessories other than his fusion cannon and was completely plastic. No orange cap either.
I just got this guy today. After reading the review, I was really hopeful. Mine sucks. He can't stand. He can't point his arms forward. the chome is very VERY scratched except for one area. That area is BURNED. He's trash in robot mode. But in gun mode, he's awesomesauce with a side of awesome. Why? Well........... . . . . . . . . . . . . mine shoots. MINE FRIGGIN SHOOTS THE TINY BULLETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pulled the trigger and saw the gun mechanism WORK. I stuck a bullet in and it fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH EM GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I have a working, shooting g1 Megatron!!!!!!!!!!! It only shoots between 2 and 6 feet depending on how the bullet enters the chamber, but it still shoots. Also, THE STOCK SHOOTS!!!!! When you build up the big cannon out of the silencer, you can STILL shoot the bullets with the stock. It's fucking genius. I'm beside myself. The shooting almost makes up for the bot mode. ALMOST. My bot is really bad. But who cares?!?! I'm gonna go chase the cat some more.
as with mine, jam a peice of paper under the round joint in his knees, (using a small screw driver) pour super glue into the joint (not onto it, into the crack so it will rest under the round peice of metal) move the leg back and forth a bunch of times then put him down to dry. His leg will almost feel stuck when you try moving it again, so keep flexing his knee joint, then do it one more time. Do the same for the other leg. For the arms, get paper and put it into the joint for the shoulders (where the metal makes contact with the chromed arms, to get to it you will have to unscrew the joint) and if you want you can also do the super glue technique (don't put too much on, and make sure you keep moving it, because the joint will bond to the plastic it is next to... and you wouldn't want that. or you can put superglue into one part of the joint, then re screw it together (that's what I did)
I also had that figure untill I got the real deal. I painted his orange safety cap and his face to look more like G.1 cartoon megatron. I really loved the figure and I just put some superglue in the places where joints were a bit loose and then they were very tight again. For $15 I found it an absolutely amazing figure. Yes the chrome on mine wasn't perfect but it wasn't bothered at all. Call it weathering effect Well now he's sold but I have two pic's of him.
this toy is actually made from the reissue of the g1 megs ^_^ (not encore) for a KO, this is pretty fab.
The one that was made in Mexico was better it was the one that came out before the 007 one.The chrome was really great and it had the vents and P-38 on the side of it.Honestly it was so close you could put the parts on the G1 and could not tell except the chrome wore off easier.Bad thing was it only came with the arm part and did not shoot. But now for some real fun.... ........For those of you who have the first wave pre rub Megatron that has the two clips down the hole to hold the bullets.Buy the 007 one and gut it.Thats right stuff a screw driver under the edge of the chest and lightly lift it up and over the pegs as to not bust the tabs.The slider,catch,and spring are all interchangable.Stretch out that spring and put it all in your Megs the same way you take it out.And Bam you are ready to shoot out your eyes! I guess I have to much time on my hands.
