testors clear red, I mixed it with testors classic yellow (fitting name even ) I just layed out some paper and even had screamer next to me as I did it, just a few drops at a time (cause you don't need much anyway) till I got it lookin' right, but ever so slightly lighter since the grey plastic will darken the shade just a bit.
Hmmm... I only have Testors Enamel paints... I'm a little reluctant to try it with enamel paints... I really should get some acrylic paints...
all you gotta do is mix it till its just a half-shade lighter'n what you want, you can tell before you apply any of it.
hey those are pretty sweet. I havn't decided yet on Astrotrain, but I'll probably end up painting those, yeah. I cant' wait to find Megatron, cause He's getting the full-body make-over
Or you could mount his cannons on his arms, so the weight on the wings doesn't make him tip backwards...
Starscream (which I found today) is extremely nice. Only downside is the massive arm guns, which bump the wings around and restrict arm movement in general. Classics rankings: 6. Astrotrain 5. Rodimus 4. Starscream 3. Megatron 2. Optimus Prime 1. BUMBLE-FRICKIN'-BEE!
I really like him, despite minor flaws like the guns too big, I understand the safety laws... Paint could have been much better, the red is awfully close to being more of a burnt orange... The wings on mine are a tad loose, one more than the other, but nothing nail polish can't fix. Overall, a great toy for a decent price. No regrets
Finally found the little sucker and think he's a little on the underrated side. This dude has a strong G1 vibe, with knees! Yes I wish the arms were longer, his chest transformed more like G1 , and his head was'nt attached to some kibble. But he's still a poseable treat that looks like a true Starscream from all angles.
Pretty cool, but not my fave of the Classics I have so far (Ops, Bee, Rod and Screamer). He's just a little too small. And his face needs detailing. Also, mine has a weird paint app missing on his rear jets. One is blue in the middle and one is unpainted. Also with the head attached to part of the cockpit, it just comes out strange when you move his head and still have that part go with it. But otherwise, gotta love an articulated, G1-ish Starscream.
blue?? the thrusters should just be dark grey. sounds like a paintglob to me... the face has all the details it needs, but its not painted as per usual. I laid down a single coat of silver paint and it was like a veil being lifted... took me 30 seconds, and its a must do!
In fact its not really the size of the guns thats actaully the problem: even G1 Toon, let alone G1 Toy, sized guns would have this problem: the issue is the position of the wings: the G1 version had the wings a lot lower and much more swept back. Although IMO because the wings don't clip into postion this feature isn't really a problem: they're meant to slide out of the way to free up arm movement.
It might not have helped the robot mode looks, but a simple way to counter some (not all) of the gun/wing interaction issues would be having the peg farther back on the gun, so they don't extend much past the top of the shoulder. The other way would be to have the wings pivot back parallel to the body, but that would require adding joints. I'm really looking forward to Ramjet now, as many of Starscream's issues (probably) won't be there. There's no large wings on the back to bump into the arms/guns, no jet nose hanging off the back of the head, and the wings on the feet might do a better job of bracing against falling backward.
Yeah he's ok...I'm starting to become more and more letdown with classics as I get each figure. I really wish SS would have been a Voyager sized figured. Really I wish the entire line would have been Voyager sized.
Just got him today and I must say that this is the best Starscream ever!!! MP Starscream, you have been PWNED!!
