I just spent some time getting to Know Jetfire, and while overall I think he's a cool toy, he does get some complaints from me. Robot mode overall looks very cool. Jetfire is a true Cybertronian warrior and looks ready for action. He has articulation as follows: The head CAN turn (but the first time I had to twist it like a madman), Arms swing up and down and to the side, elbows bend, fists rotate, legs kick up, knees bend (but not very much) and the waist rotates. Sadly however as you rotate the waist, Jetfire has a tendency to come apart at the waist. This connection should of been alot tighter in the design. Transformation is pretty straight forward until you get to the step where it asks you to tuck his left fist under his armor. Let me tell you it's a pain to fit the fist in there and and EVEN BIGGER PAIN to try to pry it out. Luckily you can remove the red armor from this arm and pull out the fist. IT is SUPER tight but you can pull it off. Jetfire doesn't quite hold together as tightly as Thundercracker does in jet-mode; his legs have a tendency to pop out of the pegs but with some fiddling you can get it to look decent. Jetfire has landing gear in the front and fold out landing gear in the rear that looks very cool as it opens. The jet-mode looks very alien, and downright strange from some angles, but it's definitely worthy of the "Jetfire" name. So while Jetfire is not as great as Thundercracker in my opinion, he is still a pretty cool figure, and definitely better than Megatron. If only that damn waist joint were tighter.
Sweet reveiw. I'm planning on hunting him down once I save up the money for him and some other TF's that I'm looking for. Can you post some pics of him, maybe in some cool poses, or even pics showing the problems with the waist and hand thing. Thanks in advance if you do. Peace out.
It seems wave 2 is superior to the wave 1 releases. Good news I have some unexplainable need to buy this guy and freeze him within a block of ice.
Here's some pics. Tried to make him look cool, but the knees don't bend that far: You can combine the two guns into a cool double-barrelled gun. Also this fist is supposed to fold to the right and into the red armor. This is EXTREMELY difficult to do unless you pop off this armor piece altogether: Here's that damn waist peg that likes to pop apart if you turn the waist-joint too much. The only real flaw with the figure IMO: Jus' kickin' it with Primus:
Picked this guy up at TRU tonight, while looking for (and failing to find) the BW 10th 2-pack. They also had Thundercracker, who I passed on. Jetfire is a major improvement over my other 6" Tit, WW Optimus. None of his limbs have fallen off, and all the joionts are stable enough to support the weight of the die cast (yay ratchet joints). As far as the paint goes, the only chips I can see are on the underside of one of his wing engines, and they're all very minor compared to what my Prime has. Vehicle mode looks decidedly Cybertronian, and it works very well. Transformation is fairly simple, except for the highly aggravating fist issue that Cataclizm1's already described. How the makers expect you to do that without removing the armor, I don't know. Robot mode also looks great, I'm a sucker for assymetry in TFs. All in all, he's a fantastic Transformer and a very good sign for the future of this line. My only complaint is that the backpack doesn't stay on very well in robot mode, but is damn hard to get off in vehicle mode.
So stop hemming and hawing, fellas...what's the final verdict? Can you in good conscience recommend that your fellow TFW members spend $15 on this figure? That's all I'm looking to hear at this point, thanks.
Yes, yes I can. He's a major step up in quality from the first wave figures, and a damn fine toy in his own right. And I stand corrected on the backpack issue I mentioned. It does actually lock in there, I just hadn't pushed hard enough to make it click.
Why did they have to put the landing gear on his crotch? I can't wait to find him, I love War Within Prime and Megatron.
Jetfire is definitely worth the $15. Sleek, Cybertronian, and a close second place to Thundercracker in this line. Better than Prime and Megatron combined. (No, they don't ACTUALLY combine!) Pics:
He's a pretty good figure, but has a few issues- floppiness of the waist joint, getting the left hand in and out of the armor (I'm not bothering anymore), and the nose of the jet doesn't move, leaving the right hand somewhat obscured.
You can get more access to the right hand by rotating it at the wrist. But I also prefer the guns merged, like Orodruin has them in the pic. My guns also curve away from each other like that, which I'm not fond of.
Not for a while yet. The next wave is Optimal Optimus and Scourge, and after that we've got Soundwave, Rodimus, Starscream and the Fallen. Fallen has yet to be seen so I'm guessing he's wave 5 or later. I think Sounwave might be later as well since the one we saw seemed to be more of a hand painted test type than the other two.
Yeah, the guns do look a lot better combined. Fortunately for me, my Jetfire's guns curve towards each other, so they look totally normal when joined.
Why are all the pictures in jet mode mistransformed, even on the box, and instructions. I know the wings are supposed to be reversed. I even rechecked the WWI vol. 2 Graphic Novel. So has anyone else caught this? It is a mistake right?
I'd say so, especially considering that when you have the wings swept forward in jet mode, like in WWIV2, the symbols are up.
Thank you. I'm just surprised more people have not brought it up already. It looks so much better wings reversed/symbols up.
Can someone post a picture of Jetfire in jet mode with the wings in the proper way. I'm currently looking for him. Thanks in advance to whome ever posts a pic. Peace out.
