I have the SDCC version. I actually like it! Pleasantly surprised when I opened him up and transformed him. Definitely a sleeper hit. You know with the release of Titan Returns Soundwave, this definitely would wet any one's appetite for a "modern" Soundwave. Call me the oddball, but I really do not understand people's infatuation with Soundwave being an outdated tape deck (and I may pass off TR Leader class Soundave because of it). I think he can fit in either one, in my opinion. For me, it is CHUG because TR "cassettebots" are tablets and the bio alludes to Soundwave's infiltration into smart phones and tablets. I currently have Human Alliance Soundwave filling in for movie. Bio from the box: "Soundave rescans into a new form and relaunches his minions for the mobile era. He and his trademark cassettes are integrated into our networked lives. The master spies have taken the form of tablets and the components within them, gaining control of all functions - touch screen, camera, microphones, GPS systems, motion sensors - and collecting every piece of content or data generated from our planet. All of the information they gather feeds back to SOUNDWAVE. He no longer has to steal that data. He owns it from the moment it is created."
Get one. It's an amazing display piece with a different aesthetic. And a shockingly intuitive transformation. But don't expect to be "wowed" by it in hand Other than the two (excellent) guns and transformation, there's not a lot that's unexpected. Also the head doesn't turn. Which is a pretty big issue. But it's fun, different, and really cool looking. I have zero regrets.
I've got an unopened 'gold' one (not the SDCC version) if anyone wants it. I got both versions and decided to just keep the silver one.
My boss randomly got this for me as a gift today. I haven't transformed it, but I love how it's packaged like a real Mi Pad.
