So just a disclaimer, I will not be going into a full on review of these guys. At this point I will have assumed that you have played or had/have a CW Firefly, Quickslinger/Slingshot, and or Blast Off. So, today in the mail sitting for me were two packages and in one of these was this little beauty. Yep I'm talking the Transformers Collectors Club Figure Subscription Service 4.0 Deluxe Class Needlenose w/Sunbeam and Zputty... Wow what a mouthful. So, Needlenose is a repaint of Combiner Wars Deluxe Firefly while his Targetmasters, Sunbeam & Zputty(Zigzag) are a repaint of Generations Deluxe Scoop's Targetmasters Tracer & Caliburst respectively. Firstly I will talk about Needlenose. I was impressed at Fun Pub with this repaint! I mean the head sculpt is Firefly's but dang they must have some sort of magic on their side because with enough paint it captures Needlenose excellently. Now while he looks all dandy but upon looking closer at his face I noticed on mine the yellow is not really that well put on, its faint and there are spots of grey all over his face. I also noticed on the inside of the legs it was a little rough on the rim but nothing to bad. Otherwise the colors are nice! The green on his knees, back, and wings are a really nice shiny green(close to Turquoise). His arms are this pinkish purple broken up by dark blue in the arm joints, the only other place this color shows up in are his toes. The rest of him are decorated in a darkish blue and some yellow to break up all the blue and shiny greenish turquoise. Its odd but he really gives me a hardcore 80s vibe and I love him for it. His joints are REALLY tight, I'd advice caution when transforming him. First time I transformed him and I noticed some paint on my fingers. The only loose joint is his wing on the back of the jet mode, but it isn't too loose. So onto his Targetmasters, but not much to talk about. So Sunbeam is a redeco of Tracer, his colors are purple, a maroonish red, and white in the stomach and legs. Zputty, renamed from Zigzag, on the other hand is a redeco of Caliburst(Holepunch) into a pukish green, black, and white in the face and stomach. I've noticed that the handle on Zputty is not the best and it tends to lodge in Needlenose's hand and when transforming falls off but I'm use to it on Scoop's version too. Joints are tight too and surprisingly fit and look well in Needlenose's hands. The hand foot weapon is the same as Firefly's and his various repaints/retools. It is done up in this very bland gray that makes up most of Needlenose. When I was taking the pictures below I actually for a moment got confused whose was whose between Needlenose and Blast Off's hand foot piece. So that is my analysis on Needlenose, would I say he is must? Well that depends on the price, I wouldn't pay too much for this guy especially since the mold isn't too special considering all the repaints. I can't give an exact number you shouldn't go over as its all personal preference. Unless you have an attachment to the character or like the character in IDW he really isn't a must. For me he was as I am on the road to getting every G1 figure in a CHUG form. Plus, with Spinister coming in the same set as he and the rumors of Quake in Titans Return, we'll finally have all the CHUG Decepticon Double Targetmasters!
