My Ratchet's left shoulder area squeaks a bit when rotating the shoulder ratchet.......I may either keep moving it or just use floor polish.......if floor polish where should I put it in?
Floor polish thickens joints. If anything it would make the squeaking worse. Or even worse, it may tighten the joint to such an extent that moving it will break it.
Mines awesome, looks very sharp but for one issue. There is a pretty bad scratch in the front on the roof in front of the light bar. It's black and stands out. Might contact bbts.
QC on mine is good, and no issues. I loved Ironhide's transformation, and Ratchet is obviously more of the same. Love all of the accessories, but I hate stickers for MPs....I wish they'd have just tampo'd on something to the shoulder instead of making me use stickers. I just kind of feel that for something as high end & expensive, it should be perfect right out of the box...but that one issue aside, I love this guy!
Loving Ratched as much if not more than Ironhide! Of course the Red Cross, the bloodsucking vampires that they are, made his shoulders an issue. I just cut the corners off those stickers with an xacto knife and they look perfect. the only thing I have to worry about is the Red Cross finding me.
That is an unbelievably stupid policy. If the figure is broken in the box before it's even been opened, how is that the buyer's fault? And why should the buyer be forced to accept it? I would contact them anyway, see if they will do anything for you. Explain the situation and be polite. If they actually value their customer base, they'll take care of you.
What? Since when? I had no problems getting a defective Unite Warriors Hook replaced with them earlier this year.
From their T&C's, the only part in caps I should add: WE DO NOT REFUND ON ANY ITEMS BROKEN WHILST BEING USED OR PLAYED WITH OR QC ISSUES OF A COLLECTING NATURE - THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE. ANYONE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN ITEMS DAMAGED IN USE WILL NO LONGER BE ELIGIBLE TO PURCHASE FROM KAPOW TOYS LTD. Technically I had to take the toy out of the box and move the part for it to fall off. I have a lot of MP, 3rd party and even original TF's from when I was a kid, I do not handle my toys roughly and I applied no pressure whilst transforming him. I made the post mostly to warn other people this could be an issue and to watch out for it. Ironhide's hinges in the same area are rock solid. I've had similar issues with returns before. I picked up a Toyworld Muddy from AA and it had a broken mushroom peg (I managed to fix it by making a a new peg with a screw and nut assembly, I was quite proud of myself!) I sent 3 emails asking if there was any way to get a spare part from Toyworld and was ignored. I sent an email using the same form asking a question about when an item would be in stock and got a response same day. So yeah, not going to be using them again as it's a pattern I've fallen foul of twice now. The panel stays in place with friction while in robot mode, and that's how mine stay anyway so I'm living with it. I will say I think the colours work much better for Ratchet than Ironhide in making the mold look its best. The hipskirts are much less of an eyesore and I always loved the character. Just recreating classic comic poses is a lot of fun
If it were me, I would never buy from them again if they won't replace it. That's shitty if you ask me. You have to open it, to know or find out if it's defective or broken. Bbts, and Toy Dojo will refund, or replace the figure in a situation like yours. Might pay a little extra, but it would be worth it to me.
That is some bullshit customer service right there. So the moment you execute the intended function of a Transformer (transforming) you are no longer covered? That's ludicrous. Sorry you gave your dollar to such a crap business.
Is the Chrome holding up better than Ironhide? Or are people just being more careful now they know what to expect?
Ironhide and Ratchet were waiting for me when I got home and I've spent the better part of the night messing with them. The paint on Ratchet makes me nervous but after a back and forth transform and some posing I'm not having any issues. I can definitely see why some people would though because it's super easy to rub parts while transforming the upper torso. The neck tilt wouldn't lock down straight out of the box. I took it apart and identified a couple issues - the pin that holds the neck in place is slightly crooked. The slot that is meant to lock is also slightly crooked. I cut a tiny bit of plastic out of the slot to even it out and that allowed me to move it into its natural resting place. I ran into an issue with Ironhide - I placed one of the silver pistols into his hand (it put up a bit of a fight), posed him a bit and walked away. Came back a bit later and had a really hard time trying to get the gun out of his hand and suddenly the thumb snapped at it's base. The tabs on the gun handle stick out too far. I trimmed a little bit off, problem solved. I'm posting this here because they're mold mates and I'm betting Ratchet would also have the same issue though I don't know for sure because I've not tried his guns yet. Why would I, he's a medic! As happy as I am to have these guys... it seems to me like they were a little rushed and I'm slightly peeved about it.
I'll have to take some photos and some point but I'm considering sending my Ratchet back. There is an issue with the circular "ear" pieces on the side of his head - one of them isn't correct. It's kind of hard to explain, but basically, only looks like it's just hard of the head, and the other looks like a separate piece with a gap in-between. I haven't looked properly at Ironhide so I don't remember which one is correct. On top of that, mine has a lot of chrome chipping right out of the box. Most of it is minor - tiny dots - but there's quite a bit of it. Now, they did use the chrome on Ironhide, Ratchet and Rodimus in the right places and it looks really good, but I still hate chrome because it typically chips like crazy. And just like the terrible idea of painting Soundwave's die-cast feet, Ironhide and Ratchet's heels having chrome on them is a terrible idea. Finally, his right skirt piece was stuck in place, and when I moved it, it tore the paint off the hinge. Now, that's only really an aesthetic problem, and since it's on the underside of the hinge of the flap, you don't typically see it, but it is still a pain. Mine has a few imperfections here and there with the white paint too, but for the most part, the white paint on mine is fine. The white paint does look nice, but the fact that they painted red over white in some areas (and, I THINK, white over red in one or two places) is confusing. It was all moulded in white, that might make sense, but I don't think it was. Could be wrong though. I'm just recalling this off the top of my head. I still love the mould overall though. I didn't even noticed he had less accessories than Ironhide since I actually think Ratchet's accessories are a lot more interesting (though I wish he also had an "angry" face like Ironhide has).
If I understand your description of the issue correctly, I believe I have the same problem. The "ears" are supposed to be distinct from the helmet. On my figure, excess white paint on one side of the head ended up in the gap between the ears and the helmet and now they look like a single piece. It's the largest QC issue on mine, but I've opted not to send mine back to BBTS out of fear the replacement will have worse issues.
Somebody mentioned this before and the thing with the ears is part of the design. I believe one side is a separate piece, because it's a cap or screw cover or something, while the other side is molded into the helmet.
Grabbed a set of real red cross stickers from Marto6 today at a local meetup. I really like the look better than the Takara options!
