I'm not much of a reviewer, but I wanted to at least share these pictures for those who aren't aware of what this toy is a homage of. I appreciate how FP tried to "go off the beaten path" with this one. I just wish he was an original character instead what he is supposedly referenced to be (Steeljaw). The paint apps came out great on this figure. Unit-3 is easily one of my favorites from this year's exclusive offerings!
Thanks for the photos. Mine is in the mail and I can't wait! I am a little disappointed in the head, though. The McD's toy is so clearly an Optimus head. The lion motif and that Streetwise head make me think of Magnaboss Prowl.
I can't see any of Steeljaw in Unit 3. His robot mode looks exactly like Under 3, I don't see how they could have painted him differently given the mold. As for the head, I'll allow it. I don't think anybody here is unaware that he's the same character as Under 3. Unit 3 is an original character though - its not as if Under 3 had any characterisation.
Of course it looks exactly like the McDonalds toy. The comic (I believe) is what made the vague references to Steeljaw.
Unit 3 is easily one of my most-wanted Botcon 2016 figures. The Streetwise mold looks really good in those colors and he can be repurposed as Laster from Victory.
I just posted this elsewhere, but I think it also fits here: Has no one mentioned that the change from "under" to "unit" is most likely to reference the BotCon 2006 Tigatron that was named Unit 2...? Seem appropriate to have Unit-3 and a new Tigatron, who is unit 2, together like this Haven't seen anyone talk about it anywhere, so I figured I would just throw it out here ;-)
The whole thing is supposed to insinuate that Steeljaw IS Under-3 who IS Unit-3. Under-3 is a stupid name. Then again so is Unit-3. I'll just keep on calling him Steeljaw. Also his bio card is what matches the bio for Steeljaw.
