90's visual assault in excelsis, baby.

The Generation 2 Superion release sets out to pay homage to a frowned upon yet still well loved era of Transformers and does so incredibly well. Where you stand with these guys will depend on your appreciation of the homage and the side of the fence you're on regarding Hasbro's current output.

QC wise they're as good as their original releases, my only bugbear has been a less solid torso lock on Superion, although this could just be a one off with this copy.

For me, the sheer pick up and play accessibility of Combiner Wars was a breath of fresh air and while the onslaught of retools and repaints saw the line quickly become the snake that ate itself, this one manages to feel removed from all of that.

Revel in the excess and enjoy.

Great review. Great photos. I've had this set in my cart a dozen times, just can't pull the trigger.

Awesome review. I love having him just for nostalgia.

Mine had some serious qc issue on Silverbolt,Skydive and AirRaid. Luckily I was able to exchange them, but now my Silverbolt has a slight stress mark on the hinge for his hand and thats very scary especially after hearing how many broke theirs. Im being super careful with him. I also feel like the plastic feels a bit cheaper or maybe its just re use of the mold so many times now and mold degradation is starting to show. Comparing the first CW Silverbolt and G2 Silverbolt in hand, they just feel different.

I would of like to have seen them with their names on their wings like with the original G2 figures. I also dont care for the weapons in blue, they should of been black to break up the colors a bit, again just like the original G2 figures. I still love him tho and I cant wait for Bruticus(Despite the Slingshot repaint:rolleyes2 ) :)

For me, I'd like to have the other dual cannon in blue too, not silver!

Love this deco. Wish I'd never bought the original CW release so I could justify grabbing this set.

The limbs work great for Sky Reign too, blue hands included. In case anyone needs some extra convincing to pull the trigger. :)  :)  :)

... between that, the fact I had a G2 Fireflight as a kid, the fact my Powerglide is verrrrrrrrrrry slightly broken, and the fact he's down to $82 on Amazon... I may have to get this.

Silverbolt... probably going to my nephews or something. And his gun will go to Swindle.

I got this box-set at full price. As much as I like it, I wish I had waited for the price-drop. Still, it's a fun set that also fixes some of the more glaringly wrong issues with the G1 deco release.

... like what? I mean, it can't fix the feeling that the four limbs are really similar, nor Silverbolt's "IGNORE MY ROBOT ARMS" alt-mode. What are other peoples' issues with the figures?

I really would like to get this set, but I'm hesitant because of the QC issues I've heard of about Silverbolt's bad tolerances around the flap near the torso. So long as I'm fairly careful with it, will it actually break, or will it stay on?

I would just be careful with them,as I do with mine. I think now they are more for show then to play with. Im still worried the Silverbolts hand will break off one day. The plastic definitely feels different and cheaper then the other CW stuff we have. Im still enjoying my set,but Im very careful when take him down to transform into in the other modes.

got my set today and i am impressed as all hell. the combining links are much better than power core combiners and figures do not sacrifice much to allow for the gimmick.

Late on this line but recently got this guy for $65 ($70 with tax, free-shipping) from amazn a couple weeks ago.

My thoughts on him is that he is rather nice and stable in combined mode with those dorky Hasbro HFGs.

The individual Aerialbots are ok. Nice quality for regular playing and rough handling.

They're still quite a ridiculous joke as jets, tho. Speaking as a macross-fan, of course.

Anyway, CW Superion-G2 is very good for $65. Even if the HFGs are still so dorky. Don't want to afford those rather overpriced PEs/KO-PEs addons.

    Anyway, me pics...

I just got mine this week, a tad late to the party.

    -Great looking combiner
-Superion visor light gold complements the silver face
-torso visually appealing; the flow of colors in jet mode are simply stunning
    -Fireflight lighter red looks alright
-love the matching alternate colors on Sky Dive and Air Raid; maybe FF and QS should have matched
    -Quickslingers gold blows me away
    -blue HFGs rock

I've done a couple of swaps to mine
-Superion antenna replaced with Scattershot/Betatron, more orange but a lot more durable (not swapped when image was taken)
    -white Perfect Effect feet

I was laying in bed one night thinking what would be the best replacement for Quickslinger. I almost was going to use my other G1 Slingshot to fill the void but then I decided on the choice for the other arm: Alpha Bravo.
