Robot Mode: Tigerhawk is a bulky, powerful-looking Ultra-class figure that comes mostly in white, but with quite a few blue and green highlights. The white paint swallows up a few of the details, which this figure has aplenty, but overall it still looks pretty great and nicely conveys the powerful image. Articulation is good, only a bit hampered by the bulkiness and the fact that Tigerhawk’s shoulders are not pegged in that tightly, making them come loose when you pull on his arms with even moderate force. It’s not a big problem, mind you, but a more secure connection would have been appreciated here.

Tigerhawk comes heavily armed. Apart from sculpted weapon barrels on one arm, he carries two missile launchers on his wings that can be removed and be held in either hand or both in one. Additionally he can launch feather missiles from his wings, though just upward in this mode. Speaking of the wings, he can spread them and fold them, allowing all sorts of cool visuals.

So bottom line for the robot mode: pretty good. A few more painted details would have been nice, especially on the face, and some better shoulder connections. Otherwise, though? I like it. Thumbs up.

Alternate Mode: Tigerhawk transforms into a fuzor beast mode that is a cross between – you guessed it – a tiger and a hawk. The tiger supplies the head and front legs, the hawk the rear legs and wings. The tiger head comes with an opening mouth (including a tongue) and a hawk-shaped helmet, too, which can be slid up. The wings can move up and fold, with the feathers pointing back or snapping forward, which also causes the missile launchers to snap out. Tigerhawk can fire his missile launchers and feather missiles simultaneously in this mode. All four legs are articulated, too. Bottom line: a pretty strange-looking beast mode, but pretty cool, too. No complaints.

Remarks: Tigerhawk appeared in the third-to-last episode of Beast Wars, created from the bodies of the captured Maximals Airazor and Tigatron. Originally possessed by two of the alien Vok, the creatures were expelled from the body and replaced by the merged spark of the two Maximals, who then joined Optimus Primal’s crew for the final battle of the Beast Wars, only to perish in battle against the Decepticon cruiser Nemesis. Airazor and Tigatron returned afterwards as individuals (in the pages of the 3H comics), thus making Tigerhawk’s existence a very brief one. An alternate universe version of him would have you know that his name is Razorclaw.

The toy itself is a bit of an acquired taste, yes, but once you’ve got it in hand, it’s pretty cool. There are some parts of it that seem to be there just for the hell of it, such as the big green bubble thing on the beast mode’s chest, but again: a cool toy overall. Personally I like the Razorclaw version a bit better, simply because the darker paintjob brings out the details a bit more, but either way, it’s definitely among Beast Wars’ weirder and cooler designs.

I have been looking at this one. A buddy on here has straight up damn good prices on everything, and has $300 on one of these sealed in box, So it must be a rare one huh?

I went from "I hate Beast wars..STOOPID.." to "OMG..I think BW was the most revolutionary, tricked out TF toyline..ever." SO incredible detail on these.

I got a bit of BW bite, when I was at a buddys house, and he had Rampage on a shelf..Just about neck level.
Looked like a freakin FACEHUGGER ready to pounce..I wanted that one for years.
Finally a few months ago I bought a rampage from a local comic shop, That must have had a BW collector dump his entire collection there.

Since Rampage, I have picked up ..hell..Must be 20-30 of em now, some en route! I just bought a BM Night scream, MISB for $22 shipped. I CANNOT wait...to get a big ass light up, Clear Plastic.. BAT..SO awesome.. ;)  Utterly fantastic figures. Yea, I didnt get the Beast mode shit at first either..but these are just fascinating.

I looked at your reviews, here and your pages..using your pics and work as a guide to what I like and buy. I dont love em all, but some are just over the top amazing with the doubles sides panel details on lots of figures..WAY more articulation than I remember. TOUGH. I love Generations Skybyte, I thought I hate the original Skybyte. Bought one MISB $20, and The Original is SO much better than the new one. And like I said..I like the new one.

I figured out I like all the Later BW stuff. Transmetals..Beast machines ROCK.. hahhaa...

Great review as always. I look forward to them. This guy looks SO awesome.

Tigerhawk is an impressive toy, and one of the few Transmetal 2 figures I really like. Biggest shortcoming of the figure IMO is that semi-translucent milky white plastic Hasbro liked to use at the time - just obscures so much sculpted detail. You really have to stare to see that creepy zombie-grimace on TH's face.

Philister, you might have known this already, but the bubble was an abandoned feature. There was going to be a 'spark avatar' figure sitting in the bubble on the TM2 leader figs (this one and Dragon Megatron), but was dropped when someone decided they didn't want it to look like these guys were being piloted. There's little rollers on the wings which point to a dropped vehicular mode too.

I figured it was some kind of half-finished, never completed gimmick, but I didn't know the specifics. Thanks.

And you're welcome, Snake_eyes1975. Glad I could help make a BW fan out of you.

It was sort of UN-completed. As I understand it, the figures are part of the molding, but left out of construction. The Japanese release of Megatron-redeco Cryotek included its figure, which looked like Megatron before he took a beast form in the TV show. Dunno exactly what Tigerhawk's spark figure would've looked like.

Oddly despite being a kid at the time and having a lot of the figures, I never had it back then. Wasn't until earlier this decade that I finally got the figure. Though I knew what to expect due to having Razorclaw for a few years prior.

I do have to agree with you, Razorclaw just brings out more of the mold compared to Tigerhawk.
