So, how the heck did TFSource get one already? There's still 3 weeks to go before the release. Maybe TT was so ahead of schedule that vendors already have some of there stock but have to sit on it until the official release? Just speculating.
I doubt this was release stock. It came loose with accessories and instruction sheet, but no bio card or packaging. A few samples always end up out there early legitimately. Vendors often will get final product samples to help push orders, in just about every industry. I assume the same is the case here. . It's why we've already seen pics of MP-28 from other photographers and had several pics of the final Ironhide leading up to his release last month.
He looks surprisingly cool next to Carry... I'm looking forward to pic of him standing next to Mp-9 is such a thing doesn't already exist somewhere.
Again it appears to be bang on the money in hand, I am so looking forward to this now. Cheers Peaugh.
Thanks for the review and pics Peaugh! Eagerly looking forward to this one. Anyone know if it can hold Offshoot? I am aware that Offshoot would look huge in hand but I don't care, functionality>looks.
Thanks for this and the video review, Peaugh, as usual. Bummer about the paint scratch on the forehead, but otherwise, Hot Rod looks to be a fairly straightforward toy, especially compared to the other Masterpiece cars. I've been staying away from most of the line because I tend to prefer simpler, less fiddly toys, but Hot Rod is a favorite of mine, and this looks like the best version of that character released to date. Makes the Classics version look primitive.
Thanx for the reply Peaugh, much appreciated. Hot Rod is a childhood favorite. To know there is this physical imperfection on him makes me sad (cosmetic design is one thing, the basic human posture and physique standing upright is another) Thanx again!
Transformers aren't human. Man, I'm so glad I don't let stuff like that bother me and ruin my enjoyment of toys. They're supposed to be just a simple pleasure in life. I can't believe how bent out of shape we get about the smallest imperfections. It feels good to just unclench your ass and just ENJOY these toys for what they are.
Well, I'd been going back and forth on keeping my HLJ preorder of this guy, but I'm convinced he's a great figure now. What a great start to the year for MP figures.
MP Hotrod v2.0 - MP28 Thought I would get the ball rolling with MP28. Received mine yesterday and whilst I have some issues of where the MP line is going I wont bring those into question and just put my views on Hotrod himself. First up, just like Ironhide & Tracks he has a very solid paint job with a great feel to the plastic, the move to the new factory seems to be paying off because they are feeling a lot better in hand, more durable and cleaner all round. Good job He looks near perfect as a car, I would like the exhaust pipes to end in a point rather than be rounded off and them to be a bit shorter, they start quite far up the car but besides that, it's hard to fault him. The engine block has great detail, doesn't look like the weak engine MP09 had. The shape is all round sleeker and everything clips together tight. He rolls on all four wheels just as you would hope. The proportions also look much better than MP 09 in car mode, it's hard to explain but when side by side he just looks all around better. Onto the bot mode. When I first saw the prototype I was completely underwhelmed. The proportion were way off, the collar bone gaps, the sticking out bonet from his waist, the backpack. Everything looked wrong. When in hand though he is excellent. The proportions are slightly off but are so much better than than expected. I thought the shoulder joints looked like an immediate breaking point but they are very strong and clip in well, he has great mobility in all joints and is insanely posable. The backpack is no where near as obvious once he's fully painted, it's large but does blend well with the design and it clips in very solid, there's no movement like MP09. All round he's a a much tighter bot mode. His head sculpt is also perfect, very boy'ish whilst looking a bit tough. Great. There are some niggles, the gaps in the collar bone are a poor design, very prominent. The screw holes in the wrist leave you just asking why ? Putting them on the back in the darker marron plastic would have hidden them much better. He has chunky square hands. I'm not a fan of many of the masterpiece hands but he has some of the worst. Overall an incredible figure but with some odd design choices.
So, just to clarify, this mold only represents Hot Rod (plus the matrix holding ability)? I don't know all that much about the differences between the two, since theast Masterpiece toy didn't incorporate the trailer into Rodimus mode and it was sort of just slightly lankier guy with a more angular face when it transformed. Like, I guess my question is if ai ignored the babyface would he look anything like Rodimus?
