both Onslaught and his wave-mate Scattershot to me suffer from having their mold-mates highly G1-referential weapons rather than their own.

otherwise, and slightly gimpy turret in alt mode, he looks great, much better then the version they showed at SDCC with the weird brown wheels.

I've got Onslaught rocking Cyclonus and Scattershot's long rifles 24/7 which leaves him open to dual pistol action. It looks fantastic on him as Onlsaught and it looks just as well on him as Bruticus. I mean, sure, I probably could've done the same by spray painting two straws silver, but what else was I going to do with those stupid rifles anyway?

I don't like how to lock the knees on Onslaught in place, but the intermediate step for it works just as well for me in most cases. His left shoulder arm joint is pretty floppy, but at least the forearm doesn't suffer the same problem.

Onslaught overall is my favorite of the five Combaticons; he certainly looks like he can 'bring it'. The only trouble now is whether I should keep him as Bruticus or as Squad Leader Badass.

So the Alt mode "cab" has one tiny little peg + hole to keep it together? Mine will not stay tabbed in no matter what I do, and it is pissing me off. A second tab would have done wonders.

Yeah, it seems so. They didn't alter the tabs that formerly clipped onto Hot Spot's ladder assembly, so there's a big gap between the shoulders/upper arms that don't attach to anything. My copy holds together okay with the single peg, but it is much easier to dislodge than any of the other pegs or tabs on him.

Just got this guy with the PE hands and feet from the Chosen Prime and combined him into Bruticus straight out of the package.

Here's the UPC for anyone looking:

More details and thoughts coming up when I get a chance to play with Onslaught by himself.

Something I've been wondering about with this guy is, is it possible for him to transform between all three modes without having to remove the guns, assuming they're pegged in the right spot from the start?

^Yes. The part they peg onto doesn't need to move when changing from robot to alt mode, and is hinged to flip up and over Bruticus' back in torso mode.

Sweet. So we'd just need better guns. How about Shockwave? Could he stay plugged into the top/back without removing him?

From alt mode to robot, maybe, although he doesn't peg in well enough to not fall off. To torso, no. The atacchment point for the guns flips over going to torso mode, so the spot Shockwave pegs into ends up on the inside.

I don't have any extra Silverbolt/Cyclonus/Scattershot guns lying around for Bruticus/Onslaught's back cannons. Any good alternatives? 3D printed, maybe?

I figured I'd use some of the guns from Fansproject Explorer and Munitioner, since I have two sets of each. They're just in storage in Northern California, where I used to live but am not right now and can't get to them. :(

Onslaught is an extensive remold/ retool of CW Hot Spot, but he's an improvement on that figure, especially in combined mode. This is probably my favorite Decepticon torso-bot from CW. He's better proportioned and more stable then Motormaster, and unlike Cyclonus, has his own team for limbs.

This toy is exponentially better in every way than the FoC Onslaught that we got.

The robot mode looks awesome, and is very poseable and stable once you get his knees pegged in correctly. It took me a little while to figure out how to do it right. I think he looks loads better than even the G1 figure that he's based on, since this version has actual feet, knees, fully-functional hips, and elbows as well as shoulders and a turning head. And the chest plate doesn't fall off like one of my CW Hot Spot's and isn't as easy to lose like the original Onslaught's chest plate, which really didn't have anywhere to go while he was combined.

Too bad CW Onslaught only comes with two guns which are grey duplicates of Hot Spot's fireball cannons. I use the PE hands and feet as weapons to supplement these in robot mode so Onslaught can have cannons on his back and a gun in his hand at the same time. Sadly, Onslaught's fists have too much vehicle kibble to hold Shockwave straight.

The vehicle mode is the weak spot, but it's still not bad. The reversal from Hot Spot is clever, but there's a gap between the two truck cabins which wasn't as visible on Hot Spot. The turret looks just like what it is - a crumbled up ball of combiner chest and head kibble. The top of Bruticus's head sticks up and is kinda glaring, and in order to get the turret to rotate, you have to unfold the chest wings from the sides of the vehicle, showing more gaps.

At least Onslaught's turret can rotate if you mistransform it, which is more than I can say for Brawl. The removable guns can also elevate, but that was a given. I think the PE feet as guns look even more awesome and help hide the Bruticus head better just because of their size. Onslaught's guns can also be pegged in to the screwholes in the sides of his cab. Shockwave can be plugged in to the turret, but is very loose and floppy. If you turned the vehicle sideways, much less upside-down, Shockwave would fall right out.

He's even better as a torso than Hot Spot, despite his robot shouldders transforming differently when combined. It holds the arm pegs in much better, and is more G1 accurate to how Onslaught combined, but it leaves his robot fists exposed on top of Bruticius's shoulders. I hated that look initially, and tried to transform the arms to the sides like Hot Spot's do, but they don't peg in and are much less stable. Unfortunately, Onslaught's hips also want to pitch forward like Hot Spot's do, but the ankle tilts on the PE feet can be used to compensate for this.

So, Onslaught was definitely worth the wait and makes am awesome Bruticus. He even succeeds in elevating some of his more mediocre team mates (<cough>Brawl, Vortex<cough>) when combined. Onslaught is my favorite CW torso after Silverbolt, and a recommended buy when he finally appears on store toy aisles.

    Onslaught.

Seems like his head won't push completely back due to the actual head size, along with two teeny little blue tabs inside his body.

    Take a peek.

I just got one today. I completely forgot how to lock his knees into place and began to regret my purchase until I checked pics. Now that I've got that sorted out I really love his robot mode. The cannons still suck and I'll be looking for a 3rd Party set to replace them.

Onslaught is fantastic. The guns don't look horrible for now. I would almost say best torso in CW line yet, and his bot mode is just as good. If the front of my truck pegged together well, I would say best CW voyager yet.

Got Onslaught a few days ago. Robot mode and Torso mode are great. I think Bruticus as a body looks better than Defensor body. That might be due to Bruticus having a crotch plate over Defensor's hips being molded into the thighs. It gives Bruticus the appearance of having his hips being seperate from the thighs.

Vehicle mode isn't the greatest looking. Every time I see it I imagine a backward firetruck with a block of kibble for its canons. Instead of an anti air vehicle.

The toy still has issues with the hip ratchets like how hot spot had. The lean a bit to forward and when it comes to side spacing they aren't mirrored. So if you click them all the way up into a split formation one leg is higher than the other one on its final click.

At this point all I need to get is all of the deluxe class combaticons and I am done with combined wars.
