This is the best classics shockwave figure. Sadly he is a legends class figure. For a legends class size he is really dang good. Out of the 4 combiner companion legends figures I think he is the best. If you collect combiner wars or 3rd party figures like iron factory or dx 9's stuff he will fit in great.
Mine arrived this morning. I love him! Only complaint is the tiny head, otherwise he's basically a perfect Legends class Shockwave. Both modes look great, lots of articulation, fun transformation. I'm enjoying having other figures wield him.
just got mine, This is definitely my favorite figure of 2015, his gun mode is perfect. complete pose-ability here! Shiny paint, transparency (why has that been outlawed lately). This Mold is truely inspired. If all legends were this good, I'd say to hell with deluxe. I hope for repaints on this one, new heads, this mold deserves some use! Best looking gun period!
these pics show off the thigh detail well. Theres alot of detail there. If painted, that could look SWEET. It would be awesome if they did an exclusive with vac, or chrome grey parts. I doubt they would do it to flexible parts anyway. Looks SO fun.
I'm curious to see how Takara will release him. Will they release him under the TAV line repainted into another character like Energon Sixshot or something else?
If it follows the rest of the line in Japan, Shockwave will get a dumb circular scanner sticker and a big imprint carved into his chest, ruining the toy.
Another thing I've noticed: He has a much higher level of intricate detail than anything since Generations or the second movie line. He makes the legends Insecticons look like animated figures.
The Prime version definitely has a lot more presence than the CW version. After putting them side-by-side, I have to admit that the CW one's legs and arm protrusions really do bother me. I've been a life-long Shockwave fanboy, so I'm a bit more critical when it comes to updates and whatnot. Overall, it is a good figure, but the design choices bother me more than they should. Like I said in the review, this works a lot better as a Legends figure than it would as a voyager/leader.
The Prime version has huge but interesting hollow in that oversized arm. Unfortunately the hollowed part faces the inside of the elbow, other than that and the strange but mostly accurate alt mode its a pretty nice fig. Not as fun to pose because of the realllly awkward back collasping feet. Still one of my favorite molds. The paint job with metallic paint is my favorite version. I still like the new CW SW better. He has all the right joints in the right places, no backpack and very cohesive alt mode. A nice head Reveal and transparent plastic, let me say that once more transparent plastic! His gun mode is flawless. I really don't see anything to nitpick. Legends Prime looked this good but had a droopy head and floating chest. Powerglide had most of the joints but jet mode wasn't quite as convincing as SW gun mode. If we go back to the Prime Insecticon Hardshell, that is almost comparable except Hardshell had curling arms and no head swivel.
It's very cute, but I don't like the way all that cheap grey plastic breaks up the palette. I may get one and break out the spray gun Nothing has beaten Legends Shrapnel for me so far, he looks fantastic when you apply silver paint to his antenna...
The gray plastic is pretty much the same as what is on Shrapnel, and the quality is pretty good. Then again, I also silvered-out my Shrapnel, so this may get the same treatment. The only issue that may come up is that the upper arm is pretty much one big rub point with the hinge and ball joint.
The sculpted detail around his eye is very inspired. You can see that it's a square set inside a hexagon (so G1). Such great attention to detail.
You forget the magic of Legends Cosmos. Anyway, this guy looks phenomenal and I'm happy to have mine lined up for Christmas morning.
My bad, Cosmos is Magical! But Shockwave beats him with a much better, non-frustrating, head reveal! Can't believe I forgot Cosmos, craziness. Okay yeah I too thought the gray plastic might be a valid nitpic, I've been trying to predict how Takara might improve this figure, perhaps they'll go with purple instead of Gray. Only thing is, Takara hasn't been beating Hasbro Legends releases in quality.
It's probably just me, but this guy looks a lot bigger than most of the legends we've been getting recently. Like, probably 1.25 the average combiner wars legends size.
