Why should I? My first series was Beast Wars. I have seen 3 episodes of G1 and none of the Combaticons were in the film. So for me I have zero connection to G1 Blast-Off and thus enjoy the headsculpt.

I had blastoff and brawl, I didnt have the rest of Bruticus, thus Blastoff was kind of important, that and I like Space Shuttles. Funny thing is, I had G2 Blastoff.
If I didnt know that Takara was going a Shuttle version, I would be totally fine with this iteration, even though I think the CW jets are just barely transformers.

I like this version to a degree, so I might get him and Onslaught and then wait and see what Takara decides to do, before going all in.

So am I the only one who has found that his Blast Off can't really hold his rifle in either hand well without it being a little loose? This same thing is what is wrong with my Quickslinger too.

I'm kinda surprised by how striking I find the dark olive with purple & silver accents color scheme. I've been OK with a jet-mode Blast Off from the start, but the use of the Slingshot head remains a disappointment, especially since Combaticons were presumably a given since Alpha Bravo strolled out of wave 1 wearing Vortex's face. At least the toy itself remains as solid or better than previous variations of the mold. and he'll probably be an arm for the vast majority of time I own the thing.

I found Swindle and Blast Off today. Out of Swindle and Blast Off, I think Blast Off is a close second. He and Slingshot are both the best of any air vehicle limb). Paint is beautiful and really makes this mold perfect.
Plus, the bio is a beautiful middle finger to G1 supremacists.

I think he's actually pretty nice! The colors are perfect. The rest of the team looks a little bland to me. Well except Onslaught, he looks great.
Don't give the G1 purists the middle finger, without us why would there be a combiner wars. Probably just more Bayformers, mangled and twisted things. LOL ;)

Maybe we're looking at him wrong... His head may not resemble G1 Blastoff, but there is another one...

That does bring up an interesting point. What if they've retconned Blast-Off to not have a faceplate anymore?

Well, strictly speaking, the Kreon Blastoff came out early in the Microchangers line, when they were more worried about what shape the head would look like in vehicle mode than robot mode and before they started painting faceplates on.

It's a shame, because it mean't things like Blastoff and Spinister had weirdly shaped heads and no faceplates. Things like Rhinox fell in a similar boat when all beast-modes had the same helmet rather than having the beast-mode head connect to his back ala Kreon Sharkticon.

Maybe it's not og blast-off, but not a bad looking robot.
This was an impulse buy, because it looks so nice in-person.

I thought so too, if I get The Takara version I might replace Vortex :)

A lot of characters have faceplates added or removed with new toys. Especially with straight repaints.

Take Tracks for example. Original toy had a faceplate, now he doesn't. No big deal. Its not like they're giving Megatron a faceplate.

I like the brown and purple space jet. The evil Slingshot. Odd pink visor.

Gotta admit, I was nonplussed about this figure when it was first shown, but in hand he does have some charm to him. Maybe it's the color scheme, or that he's kind of skinny and pulls it off in this scheme, but I personally really think he stands out for some reason that isn't a bad one.

I think he looks great. Saw him in the store today but passed, he was the only Combaticon. But the colors are very nice in person. Very decepticon, and he looks great with galvatronus.

I hope someone at least makes a third party kit that replaces the jet kibble with shuttle parts and a new head.

I think that CW red alert or alpha bravo's head could be kitbashed into a pretty decent G1 interpretation for blast off. I'm really surprised I haven't seen this done yet. The "shuttle vs. plane" thing is a whole other issue though.

They should have retooled the alpha bravo mold and given us a space shuttle blast off. Alpha bravo's front looks pretty close to a space shuttle

I own this mold twice already so was expecting to be put off by Blast-Off, but he's probably my favorite incarnation of the Phantom mold (now that I've had a chance to fiddle with him). That's entirely down to the colors, which are convincing as a military deco -- something I can't say about Fireflight or Slingshot. No notable QC issues on my copy, which puts him ahead of the other figures I picked up from the wave.
