Never saw any review thread about these two and since I just got them today why not change that?  

Ever since I first saw the TAV repaints of TFA Swoop and Snarl (Now Slug here.) I liked how well they seem to blend into the RID15 style. At first I considered getting them to go with RID15 Warrior Grimlock but after having RID15 Grimlock in hand and how small he is I wrote off getting TAV Swoop and Slug however when Battle Grimlock was revealed I renewed my interest in TAV Swoop and Slug since they go with Battle Grimlock so much better and it helps that since I have FOC Grimlock I have a good idea how well they'll scale. So now after getting them on amazon let's see how they are in hand.

First off here's the packaging in different angles. I really love how the art for these two really help make them feel like they belong in the world of RID15 despite being repaints.





Now on to the figures themselves.

First off is Swoop in his Dino alt mode. I'm liking how the details on the wings came out and how the red on his body is a small reference to the G1 toy.




His Robot mode is equally as striking. I dig how they copied the way Grimlock's robot face is gold and his dino mode silver's and they continued that with Swoop.




Here he is next to the original Animated figure for comparison.




Next is Slug looking equally as visually interesting in Dino mode. His colour scheme is based off of the AOE toy colours and it works so well here. Makes me wish we'd get repaints of TFA Swoop and Grimlock in the AOE toy colours in the future. I sort of wish the colour scheme was inspired by the blue colour he had in the original Diaclone line to go with Swoop being red and Grimlock being Green but still it looks so nice.




His robot mode brings out more colour. Unlike Grimlock and Swoop he doesn't have a gold face but it still looks cool. Sadly he suffers from the same flaws the original TFA Snarl figure had in robot mode like the hips not connecting together at all but other then that it's good.




Like with Swoop here is Slug compared to Animated Snarl.




Finally some pics of them with the RID15 cast I have so far.





Since they didn't come with weapons which is likely due to RID15 Grimlock not having a weapon you can still have them carry the TFA weapons and they work especially for Slug.



Overall these are such fantastic repaints of already cool toys,so since we don't know if we're going to see the rest of Grimlock's buddies in future episodes of RID15 or not I'd say these are still worth picking up since they do look good with the other RID15 characters especially with Battle Grimlock coming out soon. I should say they do feel a little loose probably due to probably QC issues on my copy or mold degradation but it's not that bad. Now if Takara decides to do a repaint of Animated Grimlock into Overkill or Crullock to go along with a hopefully happening Warrior Scowl figure My Dinobot wishes for RID15 would be satisfied.

Im a huge animated fan. but Ive never owned these two. Very neat. Swoop looks fun!

 

I like Swoop but not Slug

 

Pity they don't come with their original weapons.

 

How well does Swoops head stay on? My original Animated version has always had an issue with is head being a bit too easy to pop off accidently during transformation.

 

While it would be nice if they did come with them I'm not bothered by it since I get why Takara did it because RID15 Grimlock doesn't come with a weapon until Battle Grimlock came in that is.

It has the same issue actually I'm afraid.

 

I just got Slug off ebay for £6.70 after shipping. I didn't really want it, but I thought I'd place a bid since it was cheap to see how much it went for. I had Animated Snarl but sold him years ago. I think I'll just keep him in the packaging for now.
