Couldn't find a thread for this guy, so I figured I'd post a brief review just to cover the basics, seeing this must be the fourth or fifth release of this mold, so I'll mostly focus on comparisons and paint and such. Apologies in advance if the photos are a bit odd. I just got a new camera and I'm still getting used to it Anyway, let's begin with the box. The Takara boxes are typically much more visually interesting than Hasbro's and the Adventure line is no different. Because of his size, Lockdown doesn't come in the standard deluxe packaging, but rather, a voyager figure box _DSC0025 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr The sides of the box have a neat Lockdown design on them - not quite RID, but not quite Animated either, in terms of style. Still, it looks cool. One side also has a graphic showing his transformation from vehicle to robot mode The back has all the usual business; the bio, the tech-specs, and a cool graphic of Lockdown surrounded by a hive of Bombshells and Skrapnels _DSC0026 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0029 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0027 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0028 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr On to the actual figure itself, Lockdown is primarily a dark grey, with some light grey/silver highlights such as on the bumper, and clear green windows and lights. His deco is clearly inspired by his Age of Extinction counterpart, and while it may not be as visually interesting in vehicle mode as previous decos, it still looks quite nice He does come with a remolded "cab" piece to accommodate the sticker, but with it being on the roof of the car, it's not super obvious, and so doesn't bug me too much _DSC0010 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0012 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0013 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr In robot mode is where this figure becomes much more visually interesting. His basic deco is the grey from the vehicle mode, along with plenty of light grey strewn around to break it up. Some nice light-purple paint is also introduced, particularly around the head and chest area Speaking of the chest, he has a massive Decepticon logo painted on his torso. While this may be odd for Lockdown, given his neutral/bounty hunter status, it does look really nice, better than I was expecting it to in person. The Adventure sticker also ends up on his back in robot mode, so much like in vehicle mode, it's not really a visual bother _DSC0014 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0017 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr Looking at his face really quickly, he does have green light piping, but his eyes are painted red. His "tattoos" in purple also look quite nice against the white _DSC0015 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr Unfortunately, he does still suffer from the same issue as previous Lockdown's, where his hands only fold out half way. I know there's a mod, but this figure was expensive, and I'm not willing to take the risk of modding it _DSC0016 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr He does of course come with the hook piece and the EMP Generator, which flicks open into "battle" or "medic" mode when you attach it to his arm _DSC0018 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr Pose-ability is pretty good. Mid-neck swivel, ball jointed hips, shoulders, elbows, double jointed elbows, hinged knees, hands, and ankles. His shoulders don't tab in anywhere in robot mode, which is kind of annoying, but not Blitzwing/Doubledealer annoying _DSC0019 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr So now, I'll finish up with some comparison photos. Over all, as a first experience with the mold, I really like this figure. The deco is great, and evokes the Age of Extinction Lockdown quite well, while still managing to be it's own thing. The issues with the wrists and shoulders are a little frustrating, but not enough to turn me off this figure. While the aesthetic of the figure might not fit in with your AOE collection, he does look great with some of the movie figures. If you've never had this mold before, this version is a great one to get. If you do have a version of this mold, and are unsure about this figure, base your decision around what you think of the deco, because that's really all that's different this time around But it is a really nice paint job . If you're looking for any other comparisons, let me know, and I'll try to accommodate _DSC0020 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0021 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0022 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0023 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr _DSC0024 by Brandon Farrelly, on Flickr
You just sold me on this figure, he's got some of the key characteristics of both major Lockdowns and for this reason I think he will become my Generations stand-in for the character.
looks really good! Ive had 2 different animated lockdowns and both had the same problem with a leg falling off the ball joiont at the hip. hows this one?
Happens every now and then, mostly during transformation if the the front of the car knocks off something else, it can pushed off the ball joint
It's amazing how Lockdown looks in the AOE colours. I'm strongly considering getting this for not only my RID15 collection but also as an Aligned version of Lockdown. He looks like he can fit in well in the TFP line too should one consider doing so.
awww man...that drove me NUTS. I would be all over it if it had fixed ball joints. I love animated lockdown..and with these colors its awesome..but the hip kills it for me.
I have every Lockdown (Regular, Stealth, Blazing, and this), and I never had that problem until now. This one doesn't do it every time, but it does do it occasionally. I actually didn't realize there wasn't a review thread for this; several of us have been discussing the figure in the Animated figure thread and it didn't really occur to me that there wasn't one in the feedback forum. Personally, I love this guy. The deco is great and he looks so good on my mixed universe shelf.
I got this guy, first time handling Lockdown, i missed out during animated, come to think of it never saw a prowl, and Holy slag this guy is tall, I heard it was tall but it towers over my classics Voyagers and modern voyagers, I never expected this height on a figure, Love the color scheme, i do wonder where i will put him in my collection,
