Didn't see one for this, and I just got him today.

Didn't feel like getting the lightbox, so cardboard box away!

I don't have the original RID Grimlock, but I've heard of the issue with the arms and the ratchet. I don't feel like it will break or stress on mine as I have transformed him many times just to see for stress marks, nothing at all yet. It is stiff pulling the arms back but going forward is very smooth.

He has no weapons and can't hold a lot of them due to his forearm kibble. He's also tiny, like almost scout sized I feel.

But in dino mode... the pin is coming out due to transformation and fills it, so you can't use it.

 

I'll get him, but I do wish the "gold" on his chest was actually gold, and not carmel brown.

 

Yea I'll be redoing that in a different gold. Not sure which one, most likely Tamiya Gold Leaf

nope, not at all. the only ones are in his hands and those are locked away in alt mode.

 

Damn, no way to mount Constructbots 5mm parts on him in Dino mode then.

 

"Butterscotch Armor Grimlock" doesn't look as good printed on a card.

 

I really want that...and like the colors... Good CV scaled Grimlock.

Thanks for posting the pics and review! I like this Gold Armor Grimlock but am waiting for a sale price. Been hemming and hawing about picking it up from Amazon but the $15.99 price tag for this seems a bit steep to me. Also was waiting to hear more about whether the elbow problems had been addressed - so far 2 of 2 people who've talked about this one in-hand haven't had any issues, so that's promising at least.

Wait, what is this now? Voyager RID Grimlock? Can you link to more info about this?

Ohhhh... Ok thanks. Personally I was really disappointed in the FOC Grimlock mold so I'll likely pass on this, unless color and/or in-hand pics can persuade me to the mold another chance.

Is this a regular release or exclusive of some sort? Might get this at some point if this is regular, I just love his head...compared to the green one.

 

It's not an exclusive.

 

I want to like the G1 colours but it just comes off as very band looking. Not a fan.

 

I'm not a fan of the FOC mold (the way the entire arm and shoulder assembly is just weird). The RID warrior mold actually fits this guy better.

 

Throw some decent joints into the warrior one and upscale the design to a voyager, and he'd be pretty much perfect.

That said, this redeco/remold isn't quite doing it for me. The original warrior just has so much more life in the face sculpt and the color scheme pops out much more than this one.
