Hi All,

I receive Hotspot in the mail today and wanted to share some quick feedback.

Please note that something has happened between taking photos and posting them here. The originals look much better than what you see here.

He looks great although I'm not a fine of the ladder hanging off of his back. That being said what the ladder can do more than makes up for this.



Hotspot looks strong and heroic, the colour scheme is simple but effective also. Red eyes aren't my thing on an Autobot but I know that this is much like the original figure.



Here's a couple of pictures from the side and back




One thing about his backpack is that it allows for some rather epic poses.



Here is a comparison with CW Prime, the Prime/Motormaster mold is still the largest voyager it seems.



Also Hotspot was the subject of a GDO release a few years ago using the Universe Inferno mold. Here's a comparison of that mold with this Hotspot. I believe it's quite the improvement.



Transformation to vehicle is simple but has some nice care and attention to it in the way of clips and pegs that ensure legs and ladders stay in place.



The fire truck is quite nice and the ladder has much more mobility that I first expected. It can bend and rotate 360 degrees. The combiner head even splits in half to disguise the true purpose.



Obviously, as per usual, scale goes out of the window.



The way that Hotspot forms the torso for Defensor is amazing. I won't spoil it here but it is very clever and leaves with you a beefy combiner body with a striking head.



My Defensor limbs will arrive on Monday so for now I'll use the Aerialbots. I think this torso is the best executed of the 3 unique combiners to date.



In summary Hotspot isn't a balanced figure, he is a fun but clearly makes some compromises in order to form Defensor. If you can make peace with that you'll have plenty of fun with this guy.

 

He looks great to me! I have found my torso bot. Now to just figure out what limbs to put on him.

I'm not 100% sure about the panels from the side of the cherry picker, which are just folded to the side of the combined head and just sit on top of the body at an angle. Would have been nice if they'd recess into the shoulders. I've seen one shot with them left up which looked nice.

I don't like the chest plate for Defensor. Too big. How is it attached - pegs into holes or a metal bar run through holes in the plastic? I'm hoping someone 3P can come up with some smaller more G1 looking chest plates.

Love the guns and all the choice attaching them in vehicle mode, with plenty of 5mm holes. Nice play feature.

 

Chest plate clips into Hotspot's shoulders and there's a tab in the center. It's quite solid.

Hotspot looks like the best voyager of the line, and I love all of em so far.

I was never a fan of the protectabots or defensor... But CW has made me a fan of THIS protectabots. Hotspot looks fantastic.

 

Looking good so far. Can't wait to get him & the rest of his crew.

 

holy fuckin hell. cannot wait for this guy. glad that he doesn't have the awful hands that the other voyagers have been weighed down with.

 

I ordered a set of Protectobots from Agesthreeandup, still no status on when the order will be filled. But now I can't wait. Thinking about cancelling and buying it on ebay.

 

He looks about as awesome as he did in previous pictures I've seen, but this is the first time I've seen Defensor's head up close-- my God, it is AWESOME! The cop shades he's got going on are just a really cool touch, and I love how they're actually moulded to look like sunglasses up-close.

 

The good thing with him slowly appearing on eBay is that it means we're going to get him in a month or two (considering it was a month after Motormaster was on eBay that he was sighted in the US).

 

Hot Spot is looking good! I saw him posed with the ladder as an articulated cannon in bot mode and that looked pretty cool, although my HS (when he comes) is definitely gonna stay in torso mode (those badass aviator shades!) which looks incredibly solid. Now I gotta decide which of the limbs is gonna go where. I actually like the official configuration a lot, although I might try Rook as a leg when I get them.

 

I wasn't planning on getting it, but the pictures I've been seeing are convincing me to go get it when it's in the states.

 

I absolutely love my GDO Hot Spot, but this new guy is simply beautiful. He's really nicely detailed, the blue is super sweet, and his poseability is just so damned dynamic! I'm really looking forward to having him in my display along with his teammates.

The torso transformation on this guy is pretty awesome. I love how the ladder wraps around the whole body and more or less disappears
