Superion is awesome. Easily the equal of anything any third party has done, especialy when you factor in price. He has better balance and better proportions than Menasor. He's much easier to transform and pose then FoC Bruticus. This kills any need I might have to own the G1 figure - it's good, solid and plenty poseable, though sadly without a neck or turning waist. You can mount Powerglide on top of Silverbolt's weapon, of course, but I think it looks better as a separate gun.

Was it worth the wait? Oh hell yes! My Autobot Air Force is nearly complete! Can't wait 'till Quickslingshot comes out in May, but this guy is still the best in Combiner Wars so far. Menasor doesn't quite stack up. We'll see how well Defensor compares soon enough.

You know, I like the fact that they used some variety by making his weapon white. Problem is, that all the other Aerialbots have black weapons, so the one white gun sticks out when they are in a group together. I might just be nit-picking here, but I kind of wish they were either all black, or there was an even distribution of white and black for all the members.

This bothered me becuase I use them to fill out the hips.

A little black rit-dye for the white weapon fixed it up in a few seconds.

I think Air Raid is my favorite CW Aerialbot, though that's largely because he was my favorite G1 Aerialbot and I was an F-15 fan (too bad he's mostly an F-14 now, but still nice). Can't help but wonder if there's any plans to redeco the mold into Leozack, as the toy matches well in both modes (minus the Breastforce sidekick)

Superion is pretty great as well, without the funky proportion and/or spontaneous dislocations of Menasor. It's only the iffy head antennae that let it down a bit.

Was it in math? I'm not good at math either. :D

Man I wish wave 2 would show up on TRU.ca or in my area. Hopefully at reduced price.

Got Air Raid and the rest of Wave 2 yesterday. Right away he became my favorite Aerialbot and damn near the best figure from the first 2 waves. From the color scheme to the design, he's just a win all around.

Can anyone tell me if Air Raid's arms peg onto the wings in arm mode like how Skydive's do? That would be awesome if they did.

Thank you! I couldn't tell from reviews that are currently out. I think that seals the deal for me.

I dug out the old Crazy Devy gun for Superion and it actually looks pretty good with our new version. (Took this in my office today, line art behind him is a commission that Andrew Griffith did of him for me almost 2 years ago based on Superion's early RID appearance.)

To the board members who position Superion's legs with the jet parts on the back of the leg like the G1 cartoon animation:

Does this hinder the ability of Superion's legs to bend at the knee?

    Yes. Essentially loose knee articulation.

I posted this in the Combiner Wars appreciation thread and it should be mentioned here too:

I've been out of TF collecting for a while now. It was simply costing way too much money and it was taking up too much of my time. (it was mostly becoming way too costly for me to continue)

I sold my entire classics and MP collection a couple of years back. All I kept was my Grimlock collection and a few sentimental pieces.

I would buy the occasional Transformer that I thought was cool once in a while (Generations Beast Wars Waspinator, Rattrap, and Rhinox, Generations Roadbuster and Brainstorm) but for the most part it's been very few and far between.

With that said, I had to take the plunge recently on Combiner Wars Superion. I always thought it looked like a fantastic figure.

Let me tell you that he hasn't disappointed. Each individual figure is fantastic in it's look and posability. When they are combined into Superion, the same can be said. The whole set up is just great looking, solidly built, and posable as all hell. Plus the nostalgia factor is through the roof as they do the G1 characters so much justice.

I also appreciate the simple designs and transformations. I remember being a kid and ripping open a new Transformer and being able to transform it without even looking at the instructions. I can definitely do that with the Combiner Wars figures and a couple of the Generations ones I mentioned above (Brainstorm and Roadbuster). It looks like Hasbro has returned Transformers back to its roots and that's a great thing.

I wonder which Combiner Wars figures I should go after next? Any recommendations? I have no interest in Menasor because I just don't like the look of the individual figures or the combined mode. What about Defensor? Is he as solid and as great as Superion?

Here's some pics of Superion with the Nonnef Antennas. I plan to get the Perfect Effect hands and feet for him too but that's still up in the air.

I really wish silverbolt wasn't so...."yellow" Looking in his white.

When you have the stark whites of all the jets combined on to him he just looks like old discolored plastic by comparison.

Air Raid is one of the best combiner limbs, and Superion is the best of the CW combiners so far, IMHO. So awesome, I had to get two: one to display in the G1 style with Sling as an arm, and the other in "nu-CW" style with AB as a leg.

I don't understand putting the jets on the back of the legs and the robot bodies forward. You totally lose the knee joint, and Silverbolt's elbows don't make up for it. I don't like how it looks. Same with shortening the arms, where you lose the elbow. I guess it's a matter of personal taste, but I thought part of the point having classic G1 characters redone as modern toys was to get better articulation. Different strokes and all that, I suppose.

So I was looking for HotSpot and finally found Air Raid, distributions is horrible down here:thumbdown .

I love the guy. I dig his white, black and red colors. I have to put some polish on the hips but what else is new. His combiner piece is all kinds of loose on the thumb and finger area. I never did like those things. I cant wait for the G2 version of him to come out :)

Im also starting to miss weapon storage on the Generation figures, you use to be able to hide them or store them really well, now they just stick out of place. I guess not anymore on these CW figures.

I picked up an uncarded version from eBay since wave 2 was cancelled in the UK, and he's my favourite Aerialbot (which was always likely as he was the only team member I owned as a kid). I love the colours and the ability to switch his wings about in bot mode. Worth the premium to get him even if I do resent Hasbro for making me pay extra due to their ridiculous distribution model.

I've really enjoyed the CW line so far - I even sprung for First Aid and Streetwise despite having Takara's set on pre-order just do that I could fiddle with them. Hopefully we'll get all the future lines natively, importing is getting expensive...
