I can see why some of you prefer the original Armada Megatron. The original figure evoked power with the big shoulders and lower legs. Not that this one doesn't but the original was a unique design whereas this one is a figure with a new paint job and head meant to homage the original. This figure was always intended to be a modernized take on G1 Megatron so as anything else(aside from G2 Megatron) it was never going to match much. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Once I realized that I started to not expect much; it's just a repaint with a new head.

Hell, movie leader Brawl retooled with Minicon ports, with a new head and retooled with normal hands would've possibly been more accurate, even with gun placement. However that's a more complex, older mold and possibly would've costed more to use.

What sells me a lot on this one is the color matching, it impresses me a lot.

Prefer this deco and homage over the original. Sorry G1 you lose this round.

However I still have issues with the mold, not just as Armada but in General.

The Shoulders are too small in comparison to the forearms
And while this may be easy to fix with adding some extra plastic, the legs just look too0 thin and hollow.

One of your better write ups, Gaga .

I like Armada Megatron. I have one complete, and I have been eagerly awaiting some decent pics. This seals it for me, I will buy both.
This will not totally replace Armada Megatron itself... But I can see playing with the green one with my son, and keeping the G1 on the shelf so it don't get all scratched up.
I dunno why, but when I see the G1 version, I think "shelf product". When I see this Armada one.. I think "cool toy" and want to roll it around with the boy. Mabye something to the green army tank thing, but it just looks fun.
I rely like how you figured out his cannon can do that. You could display him lime that and unless you picked it up.. Man.. That's so cool.

It would have been nice it they tossed in a minicon to differentiate the sale from the other one.

    Good job, and thanks gaga

Great review! Armada got me back into Transformers in a big way, so it'll always have a special place in my collection. Armada Megs was one of the better figures in the line, so I'm stoked to have this new Generations/Combiner Wars version. I love how the paint apps and a few molded details really separate him from the G1 Megatron version. Can't wait to get him...yesss.

He looks absolutely fantastic! Can't afford both leader Megatrons, but this makes me tempted to try!

I already feel no regrets for skipping the G1 version for this guy. Also, I'm renaming him Terratron to continue the prefix-tron naming schema started with Gigatron

Did wish he got a new chestplate though

You know, with the new head, the paint apps they've given it, and the treads sticking out the back, I feel like this works fairly well as a reinventing of Armada Megatron. Only the cannon, and maybe the chest seem completely wrong.

I do need a decent Megatron for my cross continuity collection that won't be too big next to combiners. With this mold's small size, and some 3P upgrades to the combiners, this could work, and I like the Armada paint scheme a lot more than the all silver G1 paint scheme. Maybe I'll get this.

I'd like this one a whole lot more if the headsculpt was more on par with the original (though I dig that it looks like the Armada game version) and, far more importantly, if they had remolded the chestplate to look more like Armada Megatron's torso. I really don't get why they didn't in an era where extensive remolds are the norm, and it would have really pushed him into looking like a fantastic update of the character, rather then 'G1 tank Megatron in Armada colors'.

He looks better here than in the pictures I've seen up until now, so that makes me happy. I wish his antlers were a little more substantial, but that's about the only change I'd wish for that didn't involve heavy retooling. I love the face, and the smaller size of his head makes him scale better with other figures than the G1 version's does.

That is quite well thought out. It's gone from no to maybe. I really shouldn't buy it but I weight cleverness very heavily!

Can you a post a picture to show how CW Armada Megs scales to the original Armada Megs in their tank modes?

Hope 5mm compatible Constructbots parts can bulk up the robot mode

Great Review. Armada sort of got me back in the fold as well. Having ports is a nice homage that still supports the CW theme of the present.

goofy purple guns aside, i like this megatron better then the "g1" megatron version. it's probably the smaller head. and the paint apps really make this thing shine on the armada version.

The color injection molding looks spot on! That was another reason that sold me on this

Isn't it ironic that Armada Megatron, who was a combiner, isn't one in Combiner Wars? Unless there's a hidden mode that no-one's discovered yet.
