For TF's in general, it's not worth it to troop build just because most people don't have the space.

Troop building only hurts the market in the rare case where there is a reason for troop building and the figure is highly popular or the goal is to complete a set and the manufactuere has a screwy assortment. The only examples I can think of off the top of my head are Lego Minifigures. They've gotten a little better but early waves would have one army builder (literally foot soldier or zombie to build an army) for every three clown/town person.

Has anyone tried connecting his weapon to the bottom of Menasor's sword? I remember hearing somewhere that it was intended to be a hilt.

I don't think it can. Massive wasted opportunity.

Many have tried (including myself), it seems like it would be a neat thing to do, but it doesn't work at all.

The closest anyone has gotten is that due to the design of the gestalt hands, you can plug the sword in on one side, and on the other side, attach Blackjacks to create the illusion of a longer grip and a pommel.

In preparation for Rodimus I had a go with using a clear rubber band to hold Blackjack's fin in place on his robot mode back:

The sides of the band is looped round each shoulder and the bottom of the band round the post at the base of the weapon in both pictures.

This first picture shows the fin sitting in a lower position and was done by looping the top of the band round the tabs on the back of the fin.

The fin sits higher here and was done by looping the top of the band round the post and through the gaps at the bottom of the fin.

    Sword hilt

Used that rubberband trick on my Blackjack when I found a small blue one lying around my place that was perfect for it. Then tried to find somewhere to store it in combined mode. Came up with this ghetto sword hilt trick. I'll probably end up modifying the axe to hold the sword on it's own eventually, but for now this is good enough for me.

    Menasor sword hilt

One more pic. Can't wait to paint this guy up and get him the Reprolabels set. I'm sure after a little detailing, panel lining, a simple dirty wash and some stickers he'll look as good as my Superion does.

I think the problem with this guy sticking on Motormaster has to do with the hole made from his legs since the other one works fins. Has anyone tried to cut some of the plastic out from the back of the leg hole?

I just wanted to post that I picked up a second Blackjack today and he fit a ton better on my Motormaster's pegs. I couldn't lift Menasor up by holding Blackjack, but he definitely didn't fall off when I flipped Menasor on his stomach and shook.

YMMV but this particular Blackjack had the embossed number 52021 on the box. My original Blackjack (one that I had to apply clear nail polish to) was one of the early ones that started with a 4-something and out of the box he was almost impossible to keep on Menasor without falling off.
