woo! i know i'm jumping the gun here with this post since i haven't even taken him out yet, but i'm just so stoked at finding him at retail. hopefully can post a review proper when i get back home.
here ya go citizens. the alt mode is sinfully sweet. sure the viper was a supercar, but the this baby here has a legacy originating from ferrari killer specs. the bot mode is interesting. having the benefit of a rear mounted engine you dont have to worry about hood kibble. still, due to the aerodynamic design, theres some glaring flaws to the mold. - the canopy doesnt really click into place, unlike the recent skids which did a solid job. - ditto on the hood/chest kibble. dont take my word for the above tho since i didnt bother with the instruction. i did refer to the advertised method of affixing the chest/pelvic piece, but i didnt like it. and yes, i'm aware the engine TFs into 2 shooters, but i didnt like how they looked insubstantial. verdict? killer alt mode, decent bot mode. but who cares? new alt mold! woo! also, somebody needs to kitbash this bitch into hardcastle-and-mccormick-bot.... DRIVE!
In vehicle mode.... The two blue 'tabs' (in the first pic) snap into the two holes in the centre (second pic) <a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/329/img29681qo.jpg" border="0" width="640" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a> <br> <a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/395/img29699wo.jpg" border="0" width="640" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a> in Robot mode, you just have to 'tuck' it in under the roof.
the articulation is generally okay. but hes got a stumpy neck and high knee joints like prime and prowl. i'm not in the states.
Certainly doesn't on the test shot. real problem is the strut which connects the hood to the nose section - the shape means that in order for the hood to lie flat, the nose section ends up somewhat out of line.
Not really.... The strut bends a little.... but doing that exagerates that angle at which the nose sits.
