Last of the Aerialbots is Skydive! I'll do a quick overview of him and his modes...

Skydive is my least favourite of the Aerialbots in robot mode. The golden face is very Cartoon-savvy but I absolutely hate the face-sculpt. The eyes looks nice in blue but the face just comes across as overly-detailed and looks extremely creepy. Definitely not a fan! Outside of that niggle, his robot mode is very similar to Firefly's and Alpha Bravo's simple yet effective, with a very G1 look to it. As with the others, he has about your standard expected articulation for a Generations figure. He's fairly posable, but won't be able to get in quite as great action poses as some of the more recent Generations offerings.

Jet-mode is very nice, although, like Firefly, he has a pretty big under-carriage and not a lot of effort has been made to hide his arms. Its a bit of a shame that the lightning decals of the original toy are lost, but he gets the job done well enough. His transformation is nigh-identical to Firefly's.

Like Alpha Bravo, Skydive has no landing gear that I've come across. He gets by via resting on his robot kibble undercarriage.

Arm-mode is my preferred mode for this guy. Transformation is simple, keep him in robot mode, fold the head and arms away and connect the legs together before plugging in the hand. Skydive's hand is molded with what appears to be missiles.

He looks good as an arm, although Skydive's place is traditionally the right leg. For my combinations, this is his usual spot for both Superion and Ultra Prime.

Transforming to leg mode is extremely simple, swap the hand to a foot, fold up the legs, plug the arms into the sides and bang! You're done!

Skydive is very stable as a foot. I do wish the "feet" part were a little bigger (although that'd make the hands look awkward), but the Aerialbots are all very stable as feet, which I am impressed by.

And that's that! A very quick look, but I hope it was enjoyable.

Looks good to me. Superion is definately the winner here in the Combiner wars. I look forward to completing him.

Undercarriage is just a fact of life for most plane TF's, so it generally doesn't bother me that much. Not sure if I'll grab all the Aerialbots, but I always liked Skydive, so I'm definitely going to pick this up.

Man, Superion could really benefit from some ankle tilt. If there's any kind of add-on kit developed, I would want it to be that. Maybe some added thigh bulk that also covers those exposed hands.

Skydive will not work as a leg with Optimus as a body: the red pointed shoulders on Skydive catch on Optimus' foot sticking out to the side of the combined knee

The shoulders rotate down, there shouldn't be any clearance issues:

Is it possible for the leg bots to be flipped around so the robot chest are in the front? More like the original G1 combiners.

Not possible for Superion since Silverbolt's hands are folded behind the thighs they get in the way of the nosecone (or helicopter tail).

You kinda can if you unpeg them. But you still lose the articulation (at least Skydive cant since his head catches onto his kneeguard).

Edit: Firefly cant bend at the knee either.

I just noticed on the packaging with all of the deluxes...

The art is terribly low resolution. Look, you can see the pixels!

    That's... pretty cheesy.

So I thought I would share this since I found this kind of interesting. Got the first wave of combiner wars from BBTS and they managed to get it to me by Xmas. My 8 year old nephew was over and is somewhat of a Transformer fan. So I was showing him the new figures and he absolutely loves the combiner war line. I let him also play with some of my AOE figures and he actually prefers all the combiner war figs to AOE and even the new PRID figure (he said they had no noses and didn't like the faces). He said the AOE figures were not fun to transform where as, in this case Skydive, he could transform it quickly and that he didn't need to look at the instructions. He also really like Dragstrip. I actually bought him a Skydive as a gift since he like jet figs the best. Just thought it was interesting that he preferred the simpler more intuitive figures rather than the complicated AOE.

Also you lose the knee bends, but you can put him in a more G1 config

There's totally a way to transform him into arm mode without being weirdly long while keeping a 90 degree elbow bend and swiveling intact.

This is the only one I've opened so far but I'm guessing all the others can do the same. Sorry if it's been pointed out before.

If this one is indicative of the rest I'm liking this line. A bit simplified but nice and hefty-chunky, solid. The hollow arms aren't a big deal. I don't think I will have a problem accepting these as true classics aerialbots (once we get to ditch that copter).

Hes a nice figure, but I have to say he's not the best, Firefly is a much better mold and surprisingly Alpha Bravo is probably the best mold of the limbs.

Skydive is an awesome figure, but Alpha Bravo's transformation is so much more fun.
