Are you positing that they were designed to break and not be elbows?

I just had horrible luck with this fix on the Warrior Grimlock I got today, it cut up the joint up pretty good, pin didn't budge a bit

How were you trying to remove the pin?

Occasionally the direction you need to push out the pin varies from figure to figure

He's the only figure other than Drift that interests me from this series.
I just bought him based off the instructions on the box and that classic Transformers Grimace (like my avatar).
The transformation is unique satisfying and stable.

Having toyed with him some aspects seem like an improvement in quality.
    - I was excited to see pin joints return.
    - I was disappointed that mushroom peg joints are still here, but are at least tight and reliable.
    - He is very hollow (especially the chest), but in places you'll hardly see (its normally covered by the dino head or his feet).
    - Transformation is on the Prime vehicon scale of interesting.

All in all a nice figure Thumbs Up, only wish he had a sword or something.

Note the elbows are wierd, I was at first impressed with the ratchet there but after reading others posts I'm scared :(

Got myself Grimmy today, and yep, his right elbow exploded straight out of the package. That ratchet is stupid and unnecesary. I've popped it back in through the hole that it ripped in his forearm and glued it in place but I don't know if that will hold up that well.

Even without that though, he's not as good in hand as I thought he'd be. He's... Ok. I was expecting to be more pleased with him than I am.

Warrior class Grimlock - Robots in Disguise 2015 - Hasbro

Another model of the warrior class, Grimlock thus integrates the cast of the main characters with a whole new look that may surprise those who are used to a grayish T-rex, the behavior seems pretty close to the character: brutal, short-tempered and (unfortunately as in the cartoon g1 ) simpleton.

The packaging is in the same vein as those from animated, clear with a cartoon style artwork (the series is CGI cellshading, the rendering is quite different from the artwork) and the instructions on the back summed up in a few steps. The toy released from his bonds (which incidentally is now some sort of hard plastic links, much like those linking the labels to clothes, I found the twisted paper's one more convenient, but I guess they facilitated the stealing in store) you can then enjoy the new look of Grimlock, which for once is adorned with black, medium green and bits of gold, the typical bulkiness is present so he got massive arms, legs, strong shoulders, broad chest, just one thing actually bug me, he has a face, exit the mouth-plate, the Dinobot got a mouth, like it or not, matter of taste, but since the Prime characters largely used the concept of battle mask that triggers when necessary, it makes sense that their successors apply the same rule it's just a shame that the toys do not offer the option.
The joints are altogether correct, although again the head is limited to an axis (that is less visually disabling than on Steeljaw I think).
Now, and it is an extremely IMPORTANT point as I think it will trigger your decision to buy or not this figurine in his first run of production, it is affected with a production defect manifested by the simple and irreversible explosion of the elbows .... in fact, the ratchet joint is too powerful, result, the gray part located in the forearm exerts too much pressure against the green part of the arm and the plastic there being too much thin, if you do not place your thumb to maintain it when you unfold the arm (the other way there's no problem) you take the risk of ending up with a one-armed robot. ..or a one-legged dino ... you choose, also, on some sample, the arms are de facto loose giving them the rigor of a cooked spaghetti, you have been warned ...

The transformation is again quite simple but satisfying, I would say it is efficient for a dino deluxe, the tail and back become the legs in robot, the head flip in the back covering the hole in the chest, and of course the classic Grimlock "the legs become the arms". Dino Mode make's me think of Godzilla, color has a lot to do with it of course, but the thick dino arm, prominent jaw and spines along the back and tail reinforce this impression, and being a fan of the King of monsters I appreciate the stylistic influence, others will see more of a tribute to the Dragonzord from MMPR, or just a dino with animated Lockdown colors.
Joints are obviously limited here, the fact that the arm become the legs imply they got the same joints, arms are each molded in one part and mounted on a stud and the jaw opens by moving a scale above the head.

So, a good deluxe, a unusualy stylised Grimlock (and without weapon, saddly) likes it or not, but also a toy cursed with a defect that may carry him for numbers of children directly to the landfill.
If you're careful and you love this design, then you can try your luck, if not, wait for another run and lets hope the problem will be corrected

Just for a bit of fun, by pulling back the bot mode feet in dino mode you find yourself with a nice little cavity to stick lego minifgs in!

Got to go get my third copy of this guy. Both of them shattered their right elbows. When I get the third one I'm going to try the fix mentioned in this thread. Hopefully that'll take care of it. I'm annoyed that this figure has this design flaw, those ratchets areway too tight and powerful for such a light figure. I normally wouldn't care, but I really want this figure in my collection.

Got Grimmy today. While at least the elbow doesn't break right away, it's sort of wiggling around... is that a good thing or a bad thing? I want to try the fix in this thread, but I don't have the tool to pokes out the pin...

How long does it usually take for the elbows to break? I've had mine for a few weeks and have yet to experience any problems with it. Am I one of the lucky ones or do I need to get on it and fix the ratchet in place?

I've applied a bit power glue with the help of mighty thin stick because I can't knock out the pin.

Transformed him many times already, and no sign of cracking though it still make a loud sound when I try to move the right hand.

Is this a good or bad sign?

I bought him earlier this week, as soon as I took him out of the package I noticed a problem with the elbow hinge...but I was too late to realise that the plastic was being bent out of place by the loose part. Trying to take the pin out right now to repair it but it's not budging.

I like the figure and all but for my first RID one really disappointed :<

I literally got my Grimlock the day it was sighted in USA. I've transformed him dozens and dozens of times with no stress or damage. Same with Steeljaw, though, TBH, his elbows frighten me a lot more than Grim's.

Grimlock looks too big in both modes (unless you want the giant monster/Godzilla look). Optimus scales perfectly in alt mode.

A fun little toy marred by a the design flaw/QC causing the ubiquitous bust elbow after transformation #3, Hasbro is becoming very sloppy.
