Ultra Prime looked really good with the Protectobots while I waited for Hot Spot.

I disagree, Mine was tight, like broke within a hour tight, during normal transformation. The shoulders are practically useless because I was afraid to break the shoulder, Underneath the stickers are pins no screws. so the shoulders suck. So basicly I had G1 Transformation movements.


And the Part that broke, the hip, it felt normal, not tight, normal, then the plastic that hold the gear to the thigh broke, without warning.

Yes it could have been an easy fix, but with the locked up shoulder, cheap plastic, and I didn't want to buy super glue, this was a easy return.

And the worst part is, I like the Mold, It really comes down to cheap plastic and pin hinges.

 

Am I the only one who folds Optimus's arm flaps against his normal chest in Combiner mode? It does a decent job of hiding his windows so it doesn't look like he is just turned backwards.

You're doing yourself a disservice - Motormaster is fantastic. He's an example of a redeco/remold that turns a crappy toy into something new. Of course, I'm not saying go pay full price since you're not keen on the figure. Just... don't write Motormaster off completely. You might be surprised. I'm so glad I went with him over Prime. Prime looks AWFUL in comparison.

 

Mightion, I did the same as I waited for Hotspot except I used Alpha Bravo with Optimus and Blades with Superion.

Renidragon, I prefer Optimus over MM

 

I like this figure but not the combined aesthetics. That, and having some problem with some of the non-combined proportions made me try and create a makeshift "semi-combined" Optimus.

First, I decided that I'll use the Combined Headpiece, and afterwards I went with the combined "upper body" with the weapons functioning as "shoulder missiles / weapons".

I decided to leave the legs as-is, and for the upper arms I used Generations Legends Optimus (he really connects to himself   ) and a legion-class Animated Bumblebee.

The lower arm parts were (at first) a couple of Legion-class Seekers, but afterwards I settled on two extra TFP Cliffjumper arms I had laying around..

.. not something to write home about probably, but I thought it was nice enough  

 

Does anyone know if there's going to be a revision of Optimus Prime with the hip fix?

 

This is the best configuration for this mold. The blackjack/rodimus chest piece in this configuration kind of covers the thin waist of mm or optimus....only real drawback is the lack of backpack to fill in the back.

 

nah, i like him with all white limbs. i don't like rodimus in any config. rather use bj or nothing. i don't like either chest wing.

 

Nobody has yet proved the existence of one in an existing case and he's not due in any forthcoming Hasbro case so it's unlikely.

If you want a fixed Op you'll need to buy the Unite version.

 

Has anyone tried to remove the cab portions that hide the combiner head? I'm thinking of doing this w/ mine as I don't plan on using him as a combiner and think both vehicle and robot modes _might_ look a little better.

 

The head sculpt on the torso mode Ultra Prime is probably THE BEST Optimus Prime head sculpt I've ever seen. Definitely my favorite.
