He kinda looks like Rescue Bots Optimus in Robot mode.

Which is actually neat because I wanted Generations versions of those designs!

I think this figure is actually looking very cool and a lot of fun - which is _really_ surprising considering I _hated_ it at the reveal.

But like many others here, I don't need another Prime, espeicially a remold of a figure I do plan on buying.

Ugly combiner mode. My expectations of Menasor dropped drastically after playing with Ultra Prime's torso. Because of the weight of the limbs, and the fact that the ratchet joints caused the leg to splay out and subsequently the feet cannnot rest flat on the floor, the end result is that the legs tend to split out wider than the original ratchet positions intended them to be. What you get is an ugly and unposable combiner.

Is it possible to make the hips sit close together in combiner mode?

That's the only real problem I see so far.

It is possible, according to TCracker's photo album. (Which is coincidentially the set of images that sold me on this guy!)

    Yeah, that's MUCH better!

You can even use the thigh swivels that way.

Thank you for the pictures :thumb
I must say that my expectations for Menasor also dropped... I am fine with vehicle-mode and robot-mode, but torso-mode... I have 2 big problems: 1-) the official torso-mode seems to lose the swivels above the knees (big no-no) and 2-) the robots in arm-mode are connected to the torso behind the line of the combiner's head, so the shoulders are not in line with the combiner's head (the shoulders sit behind the combiner's head when looking its side, which is unnatural and kind ugly in my opinion).

Yes, but then the legs become too long in relation to the body and the space between them becomes too narrow (and so you always need to give the figure an A stand)...

Yeah, but it's still a vast improvement over the drive-a-semi-truck-through legs stance of Ultra Prime under usual circumstances, as evidenced by the number of people who are excited by this new posing development. I'll be displaying it like that, personally.

The illusion of the upper legs being part of the torso makes it look like the waist is in the right place, so it's only weird poses where that illusion falls apart. I fully suspect I will be able to pose it in different ways such that articulation occours in the right place for each of the poses I want.

Ta for the half way head shot :)

So what do we think those slots on the backs of the legs just bellow the knees are for?

Yeah, ever since I first saw pictures of Menasor I figured this would be the case.

I'm not sure why there even engineered in those weird locking tab panels in the first place; it seems to be another case of AOE Voyager Grimlock's arms where the locking tabs make the figure look worse in addition to being detrimental to its posability.

I'm curious to see this version of the mold be done in Nemesis Prime colours. I mean while it doesn't work too well as an Optimus I can see this working for Nemesis especially since the huge arms fit a more evil and aggressive character just like how Motormaster fits this mold better.

I still need a Classics op. I just have the deluxe. Not sure if I will get the set of auto bots meant to combine with prime. Only time and money will tell.

This is the new classics Prime imo, large and commanding.

I'm looking forward to comparing him with the upcoming Leader Megatron.

Pic request: Could someone take a comparison snap with classics Voyager Prime in both modes?
