Well, sister got me one for Christmas and, yup, stuck head. I'm not gonna fool with it though given how little the actual headmaster does and the fact that you can still transform the robot to vehicle mode without taking the head off. Limp wrist too, but the gun holds it in place pretty well so whatever. Love this guy.
There's a gap between the cockpit and the grey thing (not sure what to call it) how do I close? And I got a good head no looseness and the eyes and faceplate are pretty sharp the only bad thing is theres a pretty bad scratch on the inner left knee.
The gap is supposed to be there. It gives you space to oull the grey part down which would release the headmaster.(Of course the Headmaster gimmick isn't the best.) So it's supposed to be there.
Brainstorm was a pleasant surprise for me this year. I picked him up from the Chosen Prime in November. I'm not a fan of the Headmaster gimmick in general - what sentient being gives away its head to another, smaller, squishier being to wear as a power armor suit? However, Brainstorm ticks the other boxes for what I like in a Generations Transformer. He turns into an aerospace craft (I wanna call it a space plane or a space fighter) that almost looks like something from the Jetsons cartoon. He's blue, grey and cream-colored, so he's easy on the eyes. He comes with more than one accessory (two photon blasters, but sadly, not even one briefcase), he's got good, ratcheted joints at his shoulders, elbows, knees and hips, and a simple, yet fun transformation. The only downsides are the frequently mentioned difficulty of getting the Headmaster (Arcana according to the TFWiki, but he's never named on the box) out of the body. The Headmaster pilot docks by sticking it's head into a socket in the top of Brainstorm's chest. The grey lever piece just above his canopy is supposed to be pushed down to eject the head, but mine is very tight and has to be removed carefully. The tip about pulling the Headmaster forward as you are ejecting it works well. I've never had Arcana's head come off in the socket yet, and I'm too chicken to sand down the sides of the pilot's head for fear or ruining it. The seat inside the cockpit is also supposed to be spring-loaded to fold down when you plug the head in to show tech specs like the G1 Headmasters, but mine flops down if you so much as breathe on it. The hands are a bit floppy where they fold into the arms for conversion. Not a big deal, though. Anyway, he's a great figure and I'm glad I got him. Now what happens to him in IDW's MTME series remains to be seen, but he is easily one of the most interesting characters in that series, regardless of his true alignment. "So what if I went back in time to kill someone? So what?" "You might be bigger, but I'm smarter." "Yeah, he's big, but I'm still smarter." Obligatory Metroplex shot.
Got this guy over the holidays, and despite his Headmaster troubles and limbs-underneath-jet-mode syndrome, I REALLY like him. The smooth yet blocky sculpting is very cool, and the Headmaster gimmick is a nice and welcome addition. So now we have Targetmaster Cyclonus, Double Targetmaster Scoop, and Headmaster Brainstorm. Here's hoping we get an updated Powermaster.
Got this guy for Christmas. Loving him; he's currently posed o a flight stand here on my desk. Happy i waited. the headmaster balljoint is right in that sweet spot between too loose and tight on mine. it's really fluid moving the head around when Brainstorm's in robot mode and i really dont think that'll change. One hand, his right if the figure is facing me, is a smidge loose on the pin joint, but i dont mind that. Transformation is super fun and simple and honestly, i could care less about the legs under the jet mode situation. If anything, it makes him easier to grab and thus more "whooshable" in alt mode.
Got this guy for Christmas and wow does he rock, but.... 1) that light blue paint is crap. Flaking on the little guy something fierce. 2) Stress marks left right and center. 3) That head release button doesn't work. Like at all. Needed to fix the head but all it took was scrapping a little paint from the sides of the neck. Super easy and now no risk of ripping the head off. Also, had to trim the landing gear slot to keep me from having to use a screwdriver every time I wanted to lower them. Again, a little x-acto magic and everything is great.
I think we got the same one? Mine came from Hasbro and overall he is still a damn good figure. However, I had to fix the head issue by scrapping the neck part and like you the eject gimmick doesn't at all! Useless!! Paint job on Arcana is terrible like Charles Barkely saying it! But, again, everything is fixed and still looks good among his comrades.
I wish he scaled a little better with the other lost light guys. He's like a voyager from 2005! I'm going to shave down Arcana's noggin and fit him to Smart Robin. Surprisingly, the head scale is nearly identical.
Do it, it works great. The vent detailing and colors match almost perfectly. I had to remove Arcana's legs since they stick out a little far for Smart Robin, but it doesn't bother me. It's 1000X better than Smart Robin's ugly ass mug.
I need some help. His head won't come off at all and I think that his left hand was assembled wrong, it won't plug in jet mode. Is there a way that I could fix this? Edit: if you click on the image it would show you the correct side.
