I have no idea what you mean by this. Because you can't change the color, we should ignore the fact that the color of the Platinum is far, far, far better then the regular, with or without reprolabels when comparing them?

But I'll agree to disagree. I stand by my case that the Platinum is superior to regular with repros and you obviously will stand by your case that the opposite is true. Differing opinions, nothing more then that.

More pics (now with a fully painted Drift):

I think the gold G1-esque Matrix that came with the "Walmart" Battle Blades Prime is a perfect fit for this deco of Evasion Prime and wow, putting the two together, Evasion Prime is a massive improvement. I didn't notice how much more streamlined and accurate the Evasion Prime is compared to the Battle Blades until they were together!

    Excellent photos!

I find it cool yet ironic that evasion Optimus has the most accurate robot silhouette from the first trilogy despite having a different alt mode. Kobayashi continues to work wonders!

I like that Prime. I'd love to trade my Evolutions Evasion Prime for it.

Do you guys think this is still worth getting even if i already have them except for BB? Also does your drift tabs good on alt mode? i think its one of the QC issues with the deluxe drift the rear part always keep popping off with slight movement.

It took a little massaging but I got the back to peg together. I was having trouble with the hood/front fenders for a bit but got it sorted too.

And I think it's definitely worth it for the most part. Bee is the only one that I think didn't look substantially better, but he still looks good.

You know I do wish these guys were released individually like how the Premiums of the first movie were done.

I'd definitely get Crosshairs and Hound but the retail versions of Bumblebee, Drift and Optimus look fine to me.

oh jesus, i just noticed optimus has black windows. my heart can't take this. i might just pay $150 for him alone... too bad his lower body sucks. random silver on the legs but none on the wheels and random blue by his front wheels?

These guys look great and I'm tempted to get them, but the quality of the movie/their portrayals isn't enough to convince me.

Man, I remember when I first saw it at Botcon how badly I wanted to break the glass and take the set. Looking at it now, it just doesn't impress me remotely. I'm surprised how much interest I've lost in it as we saw more and more pictures. None of the figures in the set really pop for me except Crosshairs, who I already have improved with some paint and a set of Reprolabels. This set would most likely be a pass for me unless some miracle 50% off sale happened or something.

I think perhaps the main deal breaker for me for all these figures regardless of Platinum Edition or not is the scale. Hound looks too tiny, and I still think Crosshairs is a tad too chubby to be a sporty Corvette.

Finally got all my piccies done (and redone), for those still on the fence about buying this set, even if you already have the regular versions.

I've only posted the comparison photos here from the Ozformers news site, as SG here has already done a better job of with the photos of the Platinum versions.

    The robot modes.
It's almost like, these Platinum versions are what the designers originally wanted for the regular toys, but then the bean-counters came in and told them to keep removing paint apps until they were under budget.

Accessories are mostly the same, except silver swords for Drift instead of gold, and a black gun for Optimus instead of grey. Hounds weapons are a slightly lighter grey as well.

    The differences in Vehicle mode.

Since Optimus is my favorite mold, a group shot of the six versions I now have. (I really wish I had that Japanese black one now)
From left - Breakout Battle - regular - Autobot 5-pack - Evolutions - Silver Knight - JP Rusty.

Not sure why I forgot to keep the same order as above, which would make it easier to match up.
From left - JP Rusty - Evolutions - Silver Knight - regular - Autobot 5-pack - Breakout Battle.

On this one you can see the back of the trucks, and most of them have the entire back section painted because of the post holes showing different plastic colors in them.
The second one (Evolutions version) is unpainted, probably so that they could have the painted flames on the front and legs, or just different colored feet.

And again, I mixed up the order without realizing it.
At least this time they are in a specific order... rough release order.
From left - regular - Silver Knight - JP Rusty - Breakout Battle - Evolutions - Autobot 5-pack.

A look at the underneath of the three cars to see a lot of the extra paint apps of the robot modes.

The extra paint apps in addition to the regular versions (probably not all of them either)...

Drift robot - upper arms, right forearm in gold, left forearm in blue, abs, thighs, shoulders, knees, feet.
Drift car - Front bumper, rear engine, "3B" on rear bumper, light blue skirting goes along the entire sides. (blue wheels instead of silver - the silver of the regular version look better though)

Bumblebee robot - face, chest/pecs, forearms, thighs, feet.
Bumblebee car - top strip all the way to the back, red tail-lights, back rear spoiler, black skirting on sides and back, side-mirrors, silver wheels.

Crosshairs robot - goggles, chest, abs, forearms, thighs, knees, calves, toes.
Crosshairs car - car logo on front, green front skirting, headlights, tail-lights, extra striping that covers both sides now and back.

Hound robot - head, arm shells, hands, crotch, abs.
Hound vehicle - front bumper/grill, star logo on one side, black camo pattern on both sides.

Optimus robot - chest, shoulders, upper arms, knee-pads, hips,
Optimus truck - (actually has less paint in this mode, and no other extra paint apps)

They really should've released this Optimus in the Evolutions pack, put the rusty Prime in here, and just scrapped the Breakout Battle altogether. That would've made a lot more sense.

It does seem weird that this version of Optimus is done up to look like G1 Optimus. It even has insignias on his shoulders!

Perhaps the one that came in the Evolutions 2 pack would've made more sense. While it's robot mode seems to be decoed to resemble the movie's second body, it's the only version other than Takara's Rust version that has a movie-accurate-ish vehicle mode deco, albeit without rust.

I think this Autobots united prime should've been in the Evolutions set too. The rusty prime should've been here IMO, with Rollbar and the Cemetary Wind cannon fodder as single releases in waves 1-3. Or the evolutions prime in this set as you suggested.

I do get the emphasis on providing the best repaints catered to collectors in a special gift set but I really wish this set was announced ahead of time, like when wave 1 was announced. That way I would've skipped wave 1 prime/crosshairs and wave 2 Drift(I don't have Hound and Bumblebee yet as I am waiting for this set).

Thanks for the comparison pics bro, those really looks great. Those evasion prime collection is cool, so i take it that your not planning to get the takara version? i gotta agree that the nemesis evasion is a black hole in collecting this repaints damn it,

Dang it, this set is really tempting since I only have Evasion Optimus Prime. The killer for me is the price, as I cannot justify dropping $100 dollars on these guys. Which really sucks as I don't want to have to apply Reprolabels onto Crosshairs to get that nice pattern on both sides.

you could offset costs or something when you get it by selling off the prime from this set. i'm definitely interested in it.
