    Alpha Trion

I received the EX Gohkin Alpha Trion figure this week courtesy of HLJ. Alpha Trion is one of those mythical figures that I always hoped to have, but there haven't been very many toy representations made over the years. News that we were getting a high end Fewture version of Alpha Trion was very welcome. The figure is not transformable, but is very well articulated, and very hefty. It oozes quality, and craftsmanship. This won't be a super-in depth examination, but rather more of an overview of the figure for those who are thinking about purchasing him, or are simply fans of the legendary Alpha Trion.

So here we go with a few photos. Here is the front of the packaging.

    And the back.

Insert now separated from the cover sleeve.

Here are the contents of the box. A-T comes with two heads, so that we can have the elder Alpha Trion, as well as the younger revolutionary leader A3 from the G1 episode "War Dawn." Also included are a total of 7 different hands, and a stand that can attach to Alpha Trion's back for additional poseability.

Now a few poses, first without the stand. "Optimus Prime, why have you returned? . . . "

    Closer shot of his headsculpt.

Shot from the back with his removable cape.

Now with the stand attached. The stand is not necessary, but does add some stability.

"G1 Optimus, to you I pass the Autobot Matrix of Leadership."

From a slightly different angle. FYI, this is the MP Rodimus matrix. "I found this lying around and thought I might give it to you, it may eventually be important."

A shot of a possible statue pose for the younger A-3.

Another shot of the young A-3 with G1 Optimus.

Bottom line: this is a great figure for fans of Alpha Trion. The figure cost just over 100 shipped from HLJ, which saves a little from domestic retailers. He is about six inches tall and scales well with G1 figures, though of course he is far more detailed. He would also scale well with Classics figures, but is probably too small to set up with Masterpiece figures.

I've always wanted a good representation of Alpha Trion in my collection given his legendary stature in the TF mythos, and this fits the bill very well. This is a proud addition to my collection and I highly recommend him.

Thanks for the review. It truly looks stunning but it's a wee bit small for my collection (MP). Easily the best Alpha Trion figure we've ever got.

Cool review! I really wish they made it to scale with MPs but it's still a good figure in this size. Might consider getting it when I see one locally.

Glad this is helpful to people. Alpha Trion is a cool figure and it does fill a hole in the TF mythos. As the pictures show, it scales well to the 6 inch size, so it works well with G1 and CHUG size figures, but wouldn't work so well for MP. If I can find some time I will add some pictures to compare the scale to other size figures.

A larger Alpha Trion that scales with MP figures would be cool. Not sure if we will get that anytime soon though, I think Alpha Trion is too niche of a character to command a wide release large enough to justify a larger MP scale release, official or otherwise. Also, he doesn't transform, so he is a very poseable high end item similar to the Reveltech poseable figures done a few years ago, like Prime, Megatron, Starscream, etc. That may limit his appeal as well. For me though, I think he's great and am happy to have him.
