Well, well. What do we have here.
This is the figure I have been waiting all my life. Not going to lie - G1 Wheeljack was a sort of enigma to me when I first saw him back in the 80s. After all these years, TakaraTomy has see fit to give him the MP treatment and it does ot disappoint.

First up, the packaging. Your standard MP fare.






He comes packed with his shoulder launcher, his blaster and the side mirrors are bundled together with the instructions. You will have to cut it out from the plastic spruce and install it yourself. It comes with 2 set so just in case you screw up, there is a spare available.



The obligatory collectors coin which I have absolutely no interest in.


On to the vehicle mode - this is one GORGEOUS car. Everything is replicated in detail and among all the MP cars, this is the best I have ever seen in terms of paintjob and fit/finishing. I was worried about the white plastic that they used and afarid it might come out as those washed out white plastic Hasbro always been using. But thankfully it is not and I would buy another piece just for the vehicle mode.
The paint apps are flawless and unless you have microscopic eyes, you will be hard pressed to find any paint defects or flaws.









The transformation - Clever and not to the point that it will frustrate you. In fact, along with Prowl, I rate his transformation one of the most intuitive of all MP cars.











Bot mode is one of the best I have ever seen so far. The proportions are just right and he is produced faithfully in toy form. One thing I noticed is he is quite a tall MP car bot.















Shots with other MPs (or 3rd party figures that scales well with MPs)








Overall I am very impressed with this offering. My advise is get him now. He is one of the best MP car bots in existence and looks both awesome in car mode and bot mode. A solid 9/10 for me.

Note: As many has found out, beneath his faceplate the is actually a moustache and mouth underneath. Neat easter egg there.

nice review! i see they never corrected the weeljack typo on the coin packaging lol. question - is the bulk of the figure supported only by that ankle pin? if so, i hope that pin is pretty tight!

EDIT: nevermind, just saw a video review and it seems like the ankle pin isn't suspended in the air like i thought =)

 

Thanks for noting that the lack of paint doesn't detract from the figure at all! Here's hoping that he doesn't get the yellowing other white plastic figures get.

Nice review TCracker. Love your pics. You do a great job at bringing out the personality of a Transformer which is quite often a selling point for me.

 

I like the last pic the most. BTW your Prowl looks different, I suppose stickers?

Good lord this looks GOOOOOOOD.

 

MP-10 and the MP cars are some of the best things to ever come out of tf and wheeljack is no exception. i reckon every MP car we get makes up for one michael bay movie each

Just when I thought I couldn't get more stoked for wheeljack.....

Even the transformation is very G1/toon accurate. AE shipped mine early this morning and can't wait to get him in hand!

Just a small reminder to keep track of the side mirror guys, its not in the tray and I almost misplaced mind!
