The only thing about this that slightly bugs me since this is an mp figure is the part coming off each side of his face should be either clear plastic, clear blue , or some variation considering it lights up blue in the toon when he talks.

Honestly, MP Cars is the best thing Takara ever decided to do, each iteration is improving and is awesome, and is what is keeping me buying one of each mold.

 

I agree with the whole MP car thing. I've never bought any G1 cars (Except Jazz during a convention) Also because some of those cars didn't really resemble the actual character's design. But this is the 20th centaury and there are better toy designers and ones with good minds to make the actual car into the actual G1 cartoon design.

Dr. wu needs to be making the Shockblast cannon from Heavy Metal War, only add on kit we need that and comes with speaking head flap covers.

My god, all the panels and pieces tab in so securely in car mode. It's just perfect.

Robot mode is so solid too...the backpack doesn't seem to tab in, but it stays in place well...doesn't flop around. Also it seems like the windshield might be able to tab into the sides of the arms, but I didn't want to force it...maybe it's not supposed to.

This toy is amazing, people.

Yeah, it'd have been neat if his "ears" were blue or translucent or something, but as is, the head sculpt is just perfect. I remember trying to give my G1 toy eyes by drawing on the toy with a marker cause it bugged me that he didn't have a face. I mean...I didn't mind that he didn't have a mouth cause other TFs didn't, but the poor bastard didn't even have a face! I just wanted it to match the cartoon! This toy matches the cartoon. And it apparently even has a face! I'm not gonna break out the screwdriver just now to look, but I'm sure it's under there.

If I had one complaint it's that I wish the hands had the flat black piece under them, like on the cartoon and the G1 toy, cause that was a cool unigue element of his design, but honestly it's such a non-issue, it's not even a complaint.

Car mode is a 10/10....robot mode is a 9.75/10. Take a bow Hasui and company...you NAILED this guy!!



Oh yeah.....and another nice touch. The slots on both hands for the gun to peg in are extended to the end of his hands. Meaning, you can slide the gun in place if you choose. Much better fit and no problems like with Rodimus, Datsuns, and Lambo. I've had problems with the guns on all those molds, but this one fits both hands pefectly.

One side of the gun even has an indent so that it actually "double" pegs into the car mode to form the exhaust pipe. It looks like they really thought of everything with this guy.

 

Sorry...me again. Just put him back in robot mode and noticed why the backpack doesn't flop around: it's on a spring! It's small, but it does the trick. May be something to worry about breaking though, so take care with this part/hinge cause it's a delicate little piece!

And just for fun, here he is with Prowl's launchers for that G1 toy look. Fit isn't great, but if this is your preferred look, it might do until Exhaust comes out and Wheeljack can steal his launchers.

These reviews are getting me all worked up again to get him at the beginning of the week after getting a bit bummed about the absence of a coat of paint. Anytime a new MP shows up at the door feels like Christmas.
