I am really starting to like Sentinel as a character he seems like a really nice and kind leader. I also really liked that little bit about Prime's gun and how only he can fire it and the Sky Lynx was also a nice surprise. I'm not to familiar with the character but the very description of the character was quite uniquely impressive.
SKY-LYNX!!!! Its nice to see him in here!!!! I also liked the part that sentinal knew his name and just stood there like he couldent beleive it gives you a sense that sentinal likes to know who he is working with and try to make connections with him!!! Awesome job as per the usual keep it up bro!!!
Decided to keep this one short. Chapter XXII Into Battle Silence. That's all Orion hears. Total silence. Inside Sky Lynx's cargo hold, Orion has zoned out, lost in his thoughts. Thinking back to the day when his life changed, and the day he woke up. All of a sudden, he's snapped out of his trance by Ironhide, who has taken a seat next to him. Ironhide: You alright, kid? You seem nervous. Pax: Guess it's just starting to sink in I guess. This war. Never thought I'd be fighting in it. Ironhide: Nobody ever asks to fight, kid. It's the harsh reality of the world we live in. Meanwhile, Sentinel Prime, Ultra Magnus, and Prowl discuss their plan to defend Kalis. Sentinel: Once we land, we'll need to push the Decepticons back from the city. Prowl, I want you to get to city and assist in defending it. Magnus, you'll assist me in pushing the Decepticons back. Magnus: Yes, sir. Sentinel: The Decepticons have taken enough cities. We need stall their momentum. Magnus: Sir, what about Orion? Do you really think he's ready? Sentinel: He was going to whined up in the field eventually. Besides, his training has prepared him for this. Magnus: I hope your right. Sentinel looks at Orion with a look of worry in his eyes that he doesn't let Magnus see. A few seconds pass and Sky Lynx speaks. Sky Lynx: Uh, attention passengers. You might want to hold on to something cause it's about to get rough. At that very moment, the entire cargo hold is shook violently. Sentinel: Sky Lynx, what's the situation out there? Sky Lynx: The Decepticons are attacking the city full on. And the cities defenses don't look like they can hold on much longer. Sentinel: Take us in, get us as close as you can. Sky Lynx: There's a lot of artillery and fliers are everywhere. I can't make any guarantees. Magnus: Everyone get ready we're going in! Everybody gathers near the back of the cargo hold. Ironhide: Ready kid? Orion pulls out his Ion Blaster and eyes his newfound weapon. Pax: More or less. Ironhide can see Orion's unease. Ironhide: Don't be afraid to pull the trigger, Pax. It's either you or him. Remember that. Sky Lynx: Your going to have to jump here. Any closer and I'm going to get blown out of the sky. Sentinel: Understood, Sky Lynx. Drop the ramp. Sky Lynx opens his back ramp. Exposing Orion to the chaos of war for the first time. Blaster fire fills the sky, explosions happening left and right, bodies moving and unmoving on the ground. It entrances Orion. Bot: Incoming! A lone artillery shot strikes the opening knocking Orion off his feet and sending flying out of the hold along with a few soldiers. Sentinel: ORION! Orion falls chaos all around him, the ground approaching fast, his life flashing before his eyes. He does his best to upright himself, but he only manages to do it partially and strikes the ground with a decent amount of force. The impact leaves Orion lying on the ground disoriented. And through his blurred vision, a large Decepticon appears before him, tank like in appearance, holding a machine gun. Unarmed, Orion can do nothing as the Con aims the gun at his head.
Intriguing part. I'm really enjoying Ironhide in this. Especially this line: "Ironhide: Don't be afraid to pull the trigger, Pax. It's either you or him. Remember that."
My longest chapter to date. Sorry if it's been so long. I've gotten sucked into work and videogames. Chapter XXIII The Battle for Kalis The Abyss, that's what Orion sees. The Abyss in the form of a machine gun barrel. He's lost his gun and is stunned from his fall, Orion resides himself to his fate and closes his optics. When a second passes and nothing happens, Orion opens his optics again. There the con stands... Or hangs. Impaled on a glowing energy sword. The sword is removed and cons body falls to the ground. Orion eyes his savior. A large bot, with a yellow chest, gray limbs, a faceplate, a red visor, gray flaps of armor on his back, and an Autobot insignia on his chest that shines. Orion feels a sense of valor within the bot. The bot doesn't seem to notice Orion and raises his sword in the air and let's out a battle cry before charging back into the fray along with two others that share similar color schemes. The next thing Orion sees is the form of Ultra Magnus driving into view, plowing through anything in his way. Transforming, he picks up Orion and carries him to safety. Orion watches the battle through blurred vision, destruction is all around, drop ships have crashed, anti-air defenses keep fliers away from the city as dogfights fill the sky, and Decepticon tanks(the marauders from FoC) fire at the city, trying to weaken its defenses. Magnus eventually reaches a nearby bunker, where Sentinel Prime is waiting with Ratchet. Magnus: I've got him sir. He's alive. Sentinel: Thank Primus. Magnus sets Orion down. Magnus: Chief. Ratchet: Okay, let's see what the damage is here. Ratchet scans Orion. Ratchet: He's rather banged up from the fall, it's all moderate impact trauma. He's partially offline as a result. His self repair should help, but to speed up the process I'm going to pump in some Energon. Ratchet reaches into a storage compartment in his leg and pulls out a small Energon cube. He takes out a tube and hooks it up to Orion and the cube which begins to transfer the Energon into him. Ratchet: Nothing more I can do for him now. Sentinel: (comms) Prowl, what's your status? Prowl: (comms) The cities defenses are holding. But the Decepticons are giving it everything they got. Sentinel: (comms) Then we'll give them everything we've got. Hold the line and don't let anything through. Prowl: (comms) Yes, sir. Sentinel: Ratchet, you stay here and guard Orion. Ratchet: I can't just stay here, Prime. I need to tend to the wounded out there. Sentinel: I'll have the wounded be brought here. Just make sure Orion stays safe. Ratchet: Yes, sir. Magnus: And what are you going to do, sir? Sentinel: I'm going to join the battle, Magnus. If you care to join me. Magnus pulls out his giant war hammer. Magnus: Wouldn't do anything else. Together, they transform and drive out of the bunker. They plow through several Decepticons before transforming and drawing their weapons. Cons are sent flying, have their chests smashed in, and are rendered flat with the shear force of Magnus's hammer blows. A large con has a hammer of his own and charges at Magnus. Con: YAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! Magnus does the same but without the battle cry. They both swing their hammers at each other at the same time, Magnus underhand, the con overhand. The hammers strike each other and... The cons hammer breaks into pieces. He reels from the impact and looks at the stick that was his hammer. Magnus: Trithyllium. And Magnus nails him with another hit. Meanwhile, Sentinel uses his battle staff to blast, whack, and shock troops. He also blows many to bits with the many cannons on his body. A lone flier comes streaking at Sentinel. Twirling his staff, deflects the fliers shots. Sentinel quickly levels his staff and fires a shot that goes through the flier, causing him to crash to the ground and stop at Sentinel's feet. Meanwhile, Ratchet has his work cut out for him at the bunker. Injured Autobots of various degrees litter the bunker. Ratchet: Just hold still and you'll be fine. Just then, an Autobot appears in the entrance. Ratchet: What is it? The bot says nothing and just stands there. Ratchet: Are you okay? The bot falls to his knees and to the ground dead. Behind him are two Decepticons. They enter the bunker, weapons pointed at Ratchet. Con: Hands up. Ratchet: I'm just a medic. I'm not a threat to you. Con: Shut it. The Cons survey the bunker. Con 2: What do we do? Con: We shoot him, then we'll clean out this whole bunker. As they decide this, they have their backs turned to Ratchet, who reaches down to his waist and grabs a round device. When the cons turn back around, they are greeted by the equivalent of a flash bang. Con: GAH! Con 2: My optics! As if the rest of the world is in slow motion, Ratchet runs up, at the same time transforming his arm into a blade, and delivers a single stab to both of the cons chests. By the time they realize what's happened, the cons seize and fall down dead. Out on the battlefield, Sentinel and Magnus continue to lead the Autobots in pushing the Decepticons back from Kalis. Though it's proving to be easier said then done. Magnus: We need to take out those tanks! Our troops won't last at this rate! Sentinel: I'm on it. (Goes on comms) Silverbolt, I need an air strike against these tanks. Silverbolt: Negative, Prime. We're barely staying in the sky as of now. Sentinel: (comms) Copy that. (To Magnus) Looks like we'll have to do this ourselves. Somewhere else on the battlefield, an Autobot drop ship lies in a crumpled heap. And from it's wreckage emerges a familiar yellow bot, Bumblebee. He appears shell shocked. He looks around, seeing carnage everywhere. No different from what he saw before the crash. He quickly realizes that he's forgotten someone. He re-enters the wreckage and pulls out an offline Silverstreak. Shortly afterward, a green and yellow bot with a stocky build and a smooth round gray head comes running up to him with a few others. ???: Kid, you okay? Bumblebee is still shell shocked, he hears nothing. The bot gives Bumblebee a sharp push. ???: Kid! Bee: Huh? ???: I said, are you okay? Bee: (shaken)Yeah I uh... My friend needs help. ???: And you? Bee: I'm uuggghhh... Bumblebee proceeds to fall forward into the bots arm. ???: Slag. Someone get a medic! Magnus: Fire! Ultra Magnus and many others fire on the line of tanks. The shots leaving scorch marks and dents in their armor. The tanks decide to rid themselves of this annoyance and take aim. But, that's exactly what Magnus wanted them to do. Their gaze distracted, the tanks don't see Sentinel Prime coming racing from the side. WHAM! He strikes one of the tanks and pushes it into the one next to it. The second tank aims at Sentinel, but he transforms and leaps over the first tank and second one just as it fires, destroying the first. He then attaches a grenade to the second tank and leaps off before it detonates. The third tank tries to aim at Sentinel, only to be destroyed by one of Ultra Magnus's shoulder rockets. The final tank aims at Magnus. Sentinel jumps on top of it, and uses his strength to bend the barrel backward. The tank backfires and explodes. Magnus: Well that was easy. Sentinel has his back turned, and doesn't realize what behind him. Magnus: Prime, behind you! Sentinel turns around and gets hit with a plasma shell. The force sends him flying back and he skids when he hits the ground. Magnus looks up and sees the source of the shot. Straxus. Straxus: Primes fall so easily. Pathetic. Magnus draws his hammer. Straxus in turn draws his scythe. Magnus: If you want Kalis, Straxus. You'll have to go through me. Straxus: It's your death sentence then. The two charge each other and swing their weapons. Their weapons clash and lock together. Magnus: Surprising to see you here. I thought Megatron was the one in charge. Straxus: He is in charge, and he'll make his appearance don't you worry. But soon, it'll be my time. Magnus: Scheming as always. Magnus spins around and swings his hammer overhead. With their weapons still locked, this sends Straxus flying forward. He manages to right side up himself and lands cleanly. Magnus charges and swings his hammer again. They then engage in series of blows. Their skill is equal. Magnus is faster but his hammer is heavy. Straxus is slower but his scythe is easier to maneuver. Straxus then manages to cut Magnus a few times with his scythe. Magnus then falls to his knees, seemingly defeated. Straxus: (mocking) You seem to be off your game, Magnus. Did your recent medical stint leave you rusty? Magnus: Still on my game enough to do this. In a surprisingly quick move, Magnus grabs Straxus's scythe by the base of it's blade and pulls him in close and delivers a thunderous uppercut. Sending Straxus into the air and onto his back. Magnus: Your going to answer for your crimes. Straxus: You've got bigger things to worry about then me, Ultra Magnus. Straxus then transforms into his cannon form and fires at Magnus. Reacting quickly, Magnus dodges the shot. And as quickly as it happened, Straxus is gone. Magnus then turns his attention towards Sentinel Prime, who's banged up but alive. Magnus picks him up, wondering what Straxus meant. His optics then catch a lone drop ship entering the battle, speeding towards the city. Magnus then realizes what Straxus words meant. Magnus: Primus. Prowl, there's a drop ship speeding towards your position! Shoot it down! By the time Prowl receives the order, it's too late. The drop ship opens to reveal Megatron and the Constructicons. Megatron: Constructicons! The time is now! Long Haul: Finally! They leap from the drop ship and as they fall. And when they reach the ground, the giant Devastator stands before the cities walls with Megatron on his shoulder. Every Autobot near Devastator unloads on him to no effect. He approaches an anti-air cannon. Grabbing it by the barrel, Devastator rips it from its mounting. He then throws off to the side, sending it tumbling down the wall, crushing anything in its way. Devastator then tears through the wall of Kalis. Megatron: There's our opening! Seekers, initiate bombing run. Starscream and his squadron then bomb another portion of the anti-air. With Kalis's defenses failing, the Decepticons push their advantage. The Autobots are helpless to stop their might.
Enjoyable as always. I didn't expect Ratchet to be a strong combatant but no complaints here. Looks like everyone's taking a beating in this one.
The chapter after this one shouldn't take me as long to make. Enjoy. Chapter XXIV In Defeat All Orion sees is a light. Along with a faint voice. ???: Follow the light. The light gets brighter and the voice gets clearer. ???: That's it. Follow the light. And with that, Orion snaps awake and grabs the source of the light, First Aid's wrist. First Aid: Woah! Orion scans his surroundings. Pax: Where am I? Aid: Sick bay. Orion is still griping First Aid's wrist. Aid: Could you mind letting go of my wrist, I need that hand. Pax: Oh, sorry. Orion releases his grip, which has now left small dents in First Aid's wrist. Pax: Not really the best choice of words. Aid: Your actually not the first bot to say that. But you are the first to "lash out". Orion attempts to sit up from his slab. Only for pain to shoot throughout his body. He winces from the pain. Aid: Easy. Your still a little banged up. Pax: What happened to me? Last thing I remember I was about to deploy from a ship. Ironhide: You fell. There stands Ironhide in the doorway. Pax: I fell? Ironhide: Yep, artillery threw you from the ship and you landed hard. Your lucky to be as functional as you are. This partially brings it back to Orion, who remembers the bot who saved him. Pax: I was... saved. Ironhide: Yeah, Ultra Magnus found you and got you out of there. Pax: No, before that. A con had me dead to rights. But someone killed him before he could kill me. Ironhide: Did you see who it was? Pax: All I remember is that he had this sense of valor to him. Ironhide: There are plenty of bots like that Orion. Could've been anyone of them. Orion just sits there and thinks. Trying to remember, but the images in his head are too jumbled. Aid: You stay here and rest Orion, try not to exert yourself. I've got other injuries to attend to. First Aid leaves and this brings an obvious question to Orion's mind. Pax: Did we protect Kalis? Ironhide's tone changes. Ironhide: We gave them everything we had. But that giant Decepticon tore right through us. Once that happened, it didn't take long. Pax: So what happens now? Ironhide: Now, we do what we can to repair and figure out a counterattack. Orion then realizes something. Pax: Where's Sentinel Prime? Ironhide: He took a hit. But don't worry, he's as tough as they come. Pax: I guess we're both lucky. The same could not be said for someone else in sickbay. Bumblebee lies on his slab, he's external wounds weren't too serious, his internal wounds however are much greater. In the drop ship, he, Silverstreak, Huffer, Gears, and Beachcomber were all on their way towards Kalis. Beachcomber: You know what I plan on doing once this war is all said and done? Bee: No, what is it? Beach: I plan on going off to find a peaceful place to live. I'll purchase a nice little ship and find a lush green planet. Where I'll spend the rest of life till my spark fades. Silverstreak: Sounds lonesome. Beach: It'll be quiet, with nature to keep me company. Gears: I'd join you, but I'd take Cybertron over any other planet. Huffer: Me, I plan on going back to my life in construction. They'll be plenty of building to do once this war is over. Bee: You guys act like this war will be done quickly. Gears: There's been worse conflicts then this, the war of the thirteen, the age of the quintessons, and other minor "rebellions". This one will probably be no different. Bee: What makes you- BOOM! The drop ship is shaken by an explosion. The side door is blown off, exposing the passengers to the outside battle. Pilot: Everybody hang on! Beachcomber slips and is left hanging on the outside of the door. Bumblebee tries to save him. But before he can grab him, he loses his grip and falls. Huffer: Bumblebee look out! Thundercracker comes swooping in and fires a burst from his machine guns across the ship. Bumblebee manages to dodge the burst, but it penetrates inside the ship and two shots hit Huffer square in the chest. His body goes limp and he falls out of the ship. One of the ships engines then explodes from the blasts and sends the ship downwards. Bumblebee, Silverstreak, and Gears brace themselves for impact and the ship crashes into the ground in a heap, killing Gears and knocking Bumblebee and Silverstreak out. Bumblebee continues to squirm on his slab, the trauma of the crash still lingering in his mind. Meanwhile, in a private room, Sentinel Prime lies on a slab as well. The blast from Straxus was primarily concussive, but still left him pretty damaged. He's watched by Ultra Magnus who has stayed by his side since the battle. Prowl enters the room. Prowl: How is he? Magnus doesn't even turn to look at him. Magnus: He'll make it. His armor took a good chunk of the blast. Prowl: The courage of Prime's. Is there a reason you wanted to see me, Magnus? Magnus: Yes.(He turns to Prowl) I need you to put together a team. Prowl: A team? Magnus: Yes. Prowl: What kind of team exactly? Magnus: One that isn't afraid, one that'll accept missions no other bot would. If this battle was any indication, this war will not be over in a few stellar cycles. And we need to be in this for the long haul. And we'll need a team of bots that'll be able to do hit the enemy hard like they do to us. Prowl: Consider it done. Magnus: I've contacted Jazz, he'll be assisting you with the selection. Prowl: You know we don't exactly see eye to eye? Magnus: I know. But as they say, opposites attract.
I feel bad for the Autobots that died in the ship. Never got to do what they wanted with their lives. I wonder if Bumblebee has lost his voice from the damage?
