I decided to post a story I posted on DeviantArt awhile ago. Seeing that it was about Transformers, I thought I'd post it here. :)

I plan to try and start writing Transformers fiction more often. I'll post whatever I finish on here.

    I hope you enjoy!

    --------------------------------------------------------

The slick red Ferrari sped down the long, winding roads along the mountain side, not really paying any mind to the Stop-sign's or the sign's indicating the speed limit. The air was quite chilly, with a blanket of snow draped over the expansive landscape. Large grey clouds floated above, threatening to unload their burden onto the world at any moment.

He didn't know where he was going, and frankly, he didn't really care.

Ever since the moment he had arrived on the planet Earth, it's been nothing but rules and protocol. He was told where to go, when to change form, when to talk, It felt like he was back in Iacon's Militia program. One time, he was even forced to stay in vehicle form as they "transported" him, like simple cargo. The fact that Optimus Prime continuously gave him orders was bad enough, but when the "humans" began to order him around? That's where he drew the line in the sand.

Autobot Mirage didn't really care about Humanity as a whole, and he had a hard time understanding why Optimus was so compassionate about them. They talked to him like he was stupid, like every little detail about Earth, about the mission's he embarked on needed to be explained in great detail. Like English is "such" a complex language, how about they try learning Cybertronian?

When conversing amongst the other Autobots he felt like a sentient being, a living life-form with purpose. When speaking with the Humans he worked with, he felt like a machine that just happens to be alive. Some of the humans even referred to him as "Dino", for reasons unknown to him.

He slowly came to a stop, on a ridge that overlooked a small town, much to his surprise, as the area seemed mostly devoid of any life. It was a "very" small town, but it sure looked lively. The human children frolicked about in the street, kicking a round spherical object around at each other, he also noticed two humans holding hands, walking together.

Mirage observed quietly, which was one of the things he could do best, with his expertise in the business of espionage. He quickly covered himself in a cloak, which rendered him entirely invisible, allowing him to blend in perfectly with the surroundings.

He spent almost a full hour, just watching the humans in the town interact with one another. There were no tall skyscrapers, no mobs of people crowded in the streets and it was all very small and simple, which oddly to him, seemed kinda nice. Before the war broke out on Cybertron, he was a member of a high class society, the upper class. He was quite wealthy, he owned property, had high-priced friends, enjoyed the finer things in life. Some of the other Autobots saw him as a snob, some even questioned his loyalty to the cause. Yet something so simple, so ... what was the word? He had difficulty thinking of a word that described what he was feeling, something very foreign to him, but somehow it made him feel at peace.

A loud cry suddenly broke Mirage from his concentration; it was coming from the town.

A large, gruff-looking man ran through the streets, knocking people and anything that got in his way to the ground, holding a small boy over his shoulder. The small human was clearly in a state of distress, calling out for his "Mama" and reaching for the older woman that pursued the man in question.
The chase soon entered town square, the child's cry's becoming more desperate as the distance between the boy and his mother became ever larger.

The woman pleaded, when suddenly she lost her footing and tripped over an uneven bit of land, falling onto the ground harshly, quickly scrambling to try and get back up, keeping her eyes on the man

Just as the man began to smirk, seeing his imminent victory, he turned to mock the woman when suddenly he came to a dead stop. Slamming into what seemed like a wall; he fell backwards and landed on his lower back, groaning in pain.

When he opened his eyes he was met with....

    Nothing.

He looked around, trying to see what he could have run into, still gripping onto the child who wildly kicked and flailed in his grasp. He was about to get up when suddenly he felt something incredibly sharp press against his neck, the child suddenly stopped, looking ahead, to see what stopped his kidnapper.

Before their eyes, Mirage dropped his cloak, revealing himself to them and the others who had now gathered in the town. His blade was pressed right up against the criminal's neck. Their eyes widened in fear, the town becoming dead silent.

The red Autobot narrowed his optics, and leaned towards the man, speaking in his most intimidating voice.

    "Eliminare il bambino...."

Without a second word, the man placed the kid down, he looked like a deer caught in the headlights. The kid hurriedly ran back over to his mother, who quickly embraced him, holding him close to her as they both sobbed softly.

Mirage stood, looking down at the man as his blade retracted, walking around him, the man wasn't the only one who was scared, it seemed like the other's who lived their have gone and hid. He then leaned down towards the man once more, meeting his fearful gaze, while pointing to the road that led out of the town, into the vast, harsh landscape beyond.

"Walk...Leave, and don't ever come back...Because now I guard this town...and I don't take kindly to schifezza walking the streets with the good people..." He demanded as once again, giving no second glance, the man ran off, going past the city limits and soon, disappearing from sight.

Mirage sighed softly, preparing to transform when suddenly he noticed the mother approaching, holding her son in a loving embrace, the both of them watching him, they seemed to no longer be fearful of his presence, looking to him with awe and wonder.

Silently he turned to face them and knelt to the ground, the woman moving in close, with her son gently reaching out a hand to him, his eyes full of curiosity.

"...Thank you... So much...I am eternally grateful!" She spoke softly as she bowed her head, tears still in her eyes. Her son gently placing his hand on Mirage's head, feeling his cold metal forehead, his fingers grazing over the etched Autobot insignia.

Mirage looked at the two humans with a soft expression, silently nodding in response when suddenly something finally clicked in his head. For so long, he's been so brash towards humanity. When he looked at these two humans, he no longer saw something to avoid... he saw something to cherish, to protect. For every selfish, rude or mean-spirited person, there's always another who can be wonderful, kind, caring and loving.

Now, it all made sense. Why Optimus was working so hard to protect the humans, why he cared about them so much.

He found himself smiling as he left the small village and changed back into his exotic vehicular form, the child and mother looking on with amazement, he quickly peeled out and drove off into the distance, but not before making sure to mark this small town on his own personal GPS, So he could return someday.

He would come back one day.

But for now, he drove off as the sun began to peak out from behind the dark clouds.

He didn't really know where he was going, but that didn't bother him any, perhaps his next discovery was just around the bend.

    The End~
