So this is my first ever fanfic in which I collaborated with another author named DemonsDaughter on Wattpad. It's still a WIP and I'll post up new chapters as we come up with more. Do give us your honest opinions guys. :)

Also check us out on Wattpad and if anyone's on Wattpad, do give us a fan.

    Abigail (DemonsDaughter) - Wattpad

    Ryan (Starscream600) - Wattpad

    Summary
    -----------
Wheeljack returns to the Autobot base to find many things have changed, the biggest being "pets" are allowed to run about headquarters. Upon learning humans are highly intelligent and fun creatures to be around, the mech starts to grow close to Miko's sister, May. As he and May become good friends and he begins to love her, their time of happiness is shattered.

Starscream arrives at the base begging for mercy and aid. Optimus takes him in, yet Wheeljack suspects treachery from the Seeker and watches as the mech weasels his way into Autobot ranks. In the end he will do what he must to keep May safe, even if it costs him his spark.

This story is set in the TFP universe before the base gets destroyed. R&R!

    Prologue
    ----------

How much he wanted to go home...how much he longed to return to the place he belonged. Sure, wandering through space had once seemed fun to him, but that was when he was younger and far less touched by the hand of fate. Life had been so good to him until the war. He had taken his stand and now he was truly lost. His friends were either missing or long dead and he was all alone in his starship as he crossed over thousands of miles.

His bright blue optics were suddenly pulled to the monitor screen on his ship, a blue dot blinking and beeping loudly. It was coming from the closest planet. Well, he may as well go see what his sensors picked up. Even if it was a pack of roving ‘Cons, he would be more than willing to dispatch a few for lack of anything else to do.

    ***

“That signal isn’t an enemy...I wonder...” Ratchet mumbled, watching his own screen deep within the hideout of the Autobots.

“Hey...I know that signal anywhere! That’s Jackie!” Bulkhead exclaimed, clomping into the main room to get a look at what was coming ever closer to Nevada.

“Who’s Wheeljack?” Miko and May asked, Miko’s friend just as excited as the green transformer.

“One of my best friends from the Wreckers! We were great together back in the old days!” Bulkhead laughed, pushing Ratchet aside and sending some coordinates to the nearest uninhabited area where Wheeljack could land.

    “Is that you, Jackie?”

    “The one and only!”

“I sent you some coordinates and I will meet you there in a klick! It’s been so long!”

“Too long! I will see you soon!” the deep voice of Wheeljack said from across the com line before it clicked off. He was finally going to see his old friend again.

“Who’s Wheeljack?” May whispered to Miko. Miko shrugged.

“I don’t know, but if he’s a friend of Bulkhead’s, we are going to love him!” she squeaked, holding on as Bulkhead trotted to the ground bridge as if powered on.

“This could be a trap. I advise you to go with extreme caution.” Optimus said, sending Arcee and Bumblebee along with Bulkhead in case they met a party of Decepticons instead of a long lost friend and ally.

“We’ll be okay, Optimus! Don‘t you worry!”

    ***

Wheeljack’s spinal cable almost broke when he was latched onto by Bulkhead, the other mech squeezing him tightly in greeting.

“Hey, easy! I’m not unbreakable!” Wheeljack laughed, pushing his friend off. “So, how have you been all these years?”

“I have made some new friends.” Bulkhead said, motioning with his head to Miko and May who were perched on his shoulder plating. Miko and May waved, staring widely at him.

    “Are they pets?”

“Not at all. They’re the organics that live here. Nothing to be too scared of.” Bulkhead chuckled, introducing them both.

Wheeljack watched May for a moment, the little “human” as Bulkhead called her, was pretty in her own way.
The little femme creature had reddish gold hair and a cheery face. Her eyes were blue as blue could be, signaling she must be very loyal to the Autobot cause. He knew instantly he could get along with her. Why not? Bulkhead seemed to like the little creatures, anyways.

“You gotta come back to meet Optimus!”

“Alright, alright! Let’s go see the Prime.” Wheeljack chuckled, padding alongside his old friend, his optic straying to catch a look at May once and a while. She didn’t seem to notice, so he was entirely fine with that. Best to keep it one sided.

His curious nature would have to wait when it came to humans. He had to meet the Prime.

    Chapter One
    ---------------

Wheeljack met Optimus, playing it cool. He knew the larger mech was one he wanted to fight beside, but on his own terms. As much as he liked the Autobot crew, he preferred to march to his own orders, so to speak. He was not a creature that liked to be ordered around.

"I'm honored to have met you all, but I really must be going. There are a lot of 'Cons out there to crush." Wheeljack chuckled, giving them a short salute before turning to go. He nearly stepped on Miko and May, the two humans having got right under his pedes.

"Can't you stay a little while? We barely got to say a thing to you!" Miko mewled, fussy as always. Bulkhead did nothing to stop her this time around, also wanting Wheeljack to stick around for a little longer. He knew his old friend was not one to be tied down by anything, but he thought it would be good for the mech to get some time around his comrades.

    "I-"

"Can't you stay a little longer? Just for a few Earth days?" May begged, giving him the best pleading look she possibly could muster. Wheeljack groaned and leaned against one of the base's walls.

"Alright, fine. But you have to let me go after a few days. I have a lot of important things to do."

"Glad you're here with us, Jackie." Bulkhead laughed, clapping his friend hard on his back plating, nearly denting it. "Now let's have some fun!"

    ***

Wheeljack played along, trying not to crush some of the humans by accident as he sparred with Bulkhead. He wasn't sure what made the little creatures so annoyingly stupid when it came to getting to close, so he decided if he stepped on one, it was their fault, not his.

'Aww, you can't mean that! The one they call May is kinda cute...' Wheeljack thought, dodging a hard hit from Bulkhead's fist. 'I wouldn't want to step on her. And if I messed up Bulkhead's pet he would probably be pretty angry...'

    "Hey, Jackie. You okay?"

"Huh?" Wheeljack asked, coming out of his daze. Apparently he had been so clumsy the other mech had noticed.

    "You seem to be distracted."

"Well, you know how it is...I have a lot of stuff on my mind, Bulk. It's just how I am."

"How about a drive, then? I am sure May and Miko would like that." Bulkhead laughed, seeing the two girls watching them closely. Wheeljack tried to ignore the look from May, not wanting her to think he was too interested.

"Alright, alright, we can go for a drive." he laughed, seeing Miko out on the poutiest face he had ever seen anyone-human or Cybertronian make.

The little group made their way out of the training room to be met with shouts fro, the other Autobots. Apparently they had an unwanted member of the Decepticons hadn't right for their base. Wheeljack drew his swords and rushed outside, leaving Blukhead and the humans behind for a few moments.

"Starscream." he growled, watching as the sly aerial transformed and stumbled a little, one leg mangled pretty badly and his left wing hanging at a nasty angle. Whatever fight he had gotten into hadn't gone over well for him. He gave Wheeljack a nervous look, skittish as ever.

"Please! Have mercy on me! I just barely escaped!" Starscream mewled, wringing his long claws as he limped a little closer. Wheeljack wasn't going to buy it, keeping his swords pointed at the dangerous mech.

"And you really expect me to believe that kind of slag? We all know you're Megatron's glitch..."

"I am NOT!" Starscream yelped indignantly, unharmed wing pulling back to show he was aggravated. It didn't take much, it seemed. "I am just here looking for help now that I am a rogue. Optimus Prime certainly wouldn't turn me away. He had a good spark, unlike some." Starscream said nastily, aiming the insult at Wheeljack who merely shrugged it off.

"Well, we can't all be perfect. But since Prime isn't here to save you, I can put you out of your misery nice and quick. How does that sound, 'Con?"

"No! Please!" Starscream squealed as Wheeljack lunged at him, only to he held back by a strong servo.

"That will not be necessary, Wheeljack. I will take things from here." Optimus's powerful voice declared, offering a servo to Starscream who was now giving them the most pitiful expression he could muster.

"I need your help." he said softly, trying to be as innocent and cute as possible. It made Wheeljack sick but it seemed to work well enough on the Prime.

"There is always a place to stay in our ranks." Optimus assured, leading the way back to base with Starscream in tow and Wheeljack taking up the rear. "Once you have been repaired we can discuss the next course of action." he advised, somehow finding it in himself to trust the mech that was so well known for being traitorous. Primus help them.

'Ya know, we might even need Unicron to help us. Anything we could get to rid ourselves of this menace would be nice.' Wheeljack thought as he shut the door to the base tightly behind him.

    Chapter Two
    --------------

Starscream stayed well away from Wheeljack, the two like fire and oil when they got too close. Optimus insisted they all treat the wounded aerial with some form of respect, but Wheeljack was not part of the team and did not feel he had to abide by those rules.

“Don’t touch it!” Starscream yowled from Ratchet’s med bay, the red and white mech attempting to mend the fussy Seeker’s broken wing.

“If you pull away again I’ll break the rest of it off and you won’t need to worry about me repairing it! Hold still, slaggit!”

Starscream whined, curling up on the berth like an organic cat, his optics full of worry as the medic took out some horrible looking tools...There was a soft “thump” and Starscream passed out in a heap on the medical berth. Ratchet raised an optic ridge, but got to work.

“Remind me why we bothered to let him into the base?” Arcee snapped, turning to Optimus.

“Every being deserves a second chance, Arcee. He belongs to no side, so therefore he is no real threat.”

“He is a threat! Have you seen what these can do?!” Bulkhead demanded, taking Starscreams hand and splaying his long claws while he was sedated. “He’s far from harmless!”

Optimus ignored it all, his good spark wanting to believe that Starscream was no longer a danger to himself or his team. He knew there was a small chance it could all be some kind of trick, but one could never be sure.

Wheeljack glared the whole time, leaning against med bay doors, optics narrowed. This was surely some kind of ruse. Starscream was not to be trusted for a second. Deciding he had had enough, the mech returned to his room and slammed the door. He wanted nothing to do with the madness any longer.

    ***

“You did NOT give him a room. Please tell me you didn’t do something so stupid!” Wheeljack shouted when he learned Starscream had been put in a normal room and spared from the brig. Optimus put up one hand to cease any more arguing, but Wheeljack would have none of it.

    “Wheeljack...”

“I’m going to wring that little frag’s neck!” he snarled, bursting into the room where the recovering Seeker had been placed.

Starscream didn’t wake even with the loud noise of the door opening, the only movement he made was to pull his huge blanket a little more over his wings. He looked purely innocent, curled up on the berth like a sparkling.

    “Frag it all!”

Red optics opened at that, Starscream looking confused and bleary eyed as he glanced up at the intruders. Optimus grabbed Wheeljack and threw him back before the mech could strike and told Starscream to go back to recharge. Amazingly the aerial listened, flopping back down to rest.

    “You’re out of your mind!”

“You’re the one who’s screaming, Jackie...” Bulkhead pointed out gently, azure optics nervous. What was his Wrecker friend thinking? Optimus wouldn’t think too highly of him if he tried to kill their new “guest.”

“Starscream is a beast and nothing more! Finish him off before he kills one of us!”

“He is hardly in the state for killing!” Optimus snapped, optics narrowed dangerously and meeting Wheeljack’s glare with the same silent challenge.

    “Fine. Whatever.”

    “Hey, Jackie?”

“Huh?” Wheeljack glanced down to see May was there beside his right pede, looking innocent as ever.

“Can we go for that drive now?”

“Sure can!” he purred, picking her up and turning away from Optimus. This would be a good way to get his mind off of the fight and Starscream staying in the base with them.

“Miko! Let’s go!” Bulkhead called, finding she was playing video games with Raf and Jack. She came to his call and hopped into his open hand as he transformed and sped off. “Race ya!”

    “Hey, no fair!”

Wheeljack transformed and grinned when May laughed happily and hugged his steering wheel with surprise and he was off in moments.

“Might want to watch what you grab in here, huh?” he teased lightly, speeding away after his friend.

    ***

Starscream woke with a little whine, wing sore and leg throbbing. Stupid medic...With a huff he propped himself up halfway and sent a com link through to Megatron.

-I have found what we are looking for. Permission to continue in the plan, Master?”

    -Do not fail me, Starscream-

-If I fail you, I die, my Lord. Fear not- Starscream purred, rolling onto his back to relax. Now all he had to do was gain their trust.
