So yeah. This is my first time writing a fan fiction of any kind. It revolves around a small group of Autobots who travel to the newly discovered Earth on an exploratory mission. However, originally unknown to the Autobots, a group of Decepticons arrives on the blue planet searching for something precious to the Decepticon cause.

I hope you enjoy, but I can't say that this will be regularly updated, haha! I'll do my best to aim for at least one update a week, but for now I'm going to work on some Autobot designs before I continue the actual story.

    Anyways, let's begin!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Transformers
    Earth Bound

    Chapter One

    01

Rodimus was left standing in a large, round room. The room was little by small lights that circumnavigated the circular frame of the room. Beneath every second light, there was a mural. Each mural portrayed an image of a Prime, past and present. On opposite sides to one another in the room, were two sets of doors. One was the entrance through which Rodimus had been lead in, and the other lead into the office of the current Prime; Optimus Prime.
Though Rodimus appeared to be rather calm, inside he was jumping around with excitement. Optimus Prime was his idol, a hero, a father figure. He had met him once, near the end of the last civil war, where Optimus rewarded him for his bravery and innovation on the battle field. That was the best day ever that Rodimus could remember, and he’s cherished that moment ever since. However, he never expected to be called upon by Optimus ever again, seeing as how the war had been over for a few decades now, and little to no Decepticons had been heard from since they were exiled from Cybertron.
Very few Cybertronians actually saw Optimus anymore. Since the last few treaties were signed, and the rebuild of Cybertron began, he became a social recluse in the little office situated about thirty feet in front of Rodimus. Some thought it was because he didn’t know how to be part of civilisation any more, having been a military leader at war for so long. Others thought it was because Optimus saw himself as a symbol of war, and that he himself would stop the Cybertronian people from returning to normal life. If anything though, most Cybertronians saw Optimus as a symbol of peace and freedom – The soldier who freed the Transformers from the tyrannical rule of Megatron and his Decepticons; the leader who brought Cybertron back to a time of prosperity and wealth. Rodimus had never heard a single bad word said about Optimus, at least not from someone who wasn’t a Decepticon.

The doors to the office slid back and retracted into the wall. A slim, white and black robot with a single yellow visor and a red crest on his forehead stepped out of the office. He stood tall and firm, with his hands behind his back. He had door panels mounted with semi-automatic weapons, and wheels on his shoulders.

He was Chief of Law Enforcement on Cybertron. His name was Prowl. And Rodimus did not like him.

To say that Rodimus didn’t like Prowl was putting is bluntly, at best. The two were like fire and ice – Two completely different elements of nature that couldn’t stand to be around one another. Rodimus thought that Prowl was up-tight and narcissistic. Strangely enough, Prowl thought the exact same about Rodimus, but for entirely different reasons.
“He’s ready to see you, whenever you are.” said Prowl calmly. Rodimus didn’t reply. He walked towards the door, not even looking at Prowl and into the office. “Thank you.” He replied, just before the doors slid closed, leaving the Police Officer on his own in the large waiting room. Rodimus walked down a small corridor into yet another large, round room. Once again, a series of lights were placed around the circular frame of the room. Only this time, instead of murals on the wall, there were shelves. Shelves filled with data pads- Data pads as old as time that you wouldn’t find in any other library on the entire planet of Cybertron. Stored within them were tales of old; wars from long ago; theories on the origins of Cybertron and the Transformers; technology beyond comprehension; and almost anything you could think of. Optimus had them all. Not to Rodimus’ surprise. From what he’d heard, Optimus had spent a lot of his time reading in the library before the war started or he became Prime. If anything, this must be the reason he doesn’t get out much, thought Rodimus. He just likes to read.
“Sir,” said Rodimus, before stepping any further into the room. “Rodimus,” said Optimus, somewhat enthusiastically “Please, come in.” Optimus didn’t turn away from the shelf he stood before. He finished scrolling through the data pad in his hand before putting it back where he had taken it from. Rodimus glanced around at the various shelves. “Big collection you’ve got here,” exclaimed Rodimus. He stopped for a moment, having realised how he had just spoken to a Prime. “I mean, uh, big collection you have here, sir.” Rodimus relaxed, feeling as though he had redeemed himself. “Thank you,” replied Optimus, showing no hint of offense “No need to worry about formalities, Rodimus. This meeting is in no way related to the military.” “Yeah, but, you’re-” Rodimus stopped. He decided to just let his shoulders drop and do as he had been told.
He took a few steps further into the massive office, or rather library, and continued to admire all of the data pads before him. “How’d you get all these?” he asked, curiously. “After Megatron shut down all the libraries to prevent revolutionary thinking, I snuck into the one in Lower Iacon, and took as many as I could to read in my own private quarters.”

    “All by yourself?” exclaimed Rodimus

“Well, I had a bit of help from some friends.” replied Optimus.

“When Megaton took away the libraries, he took away one of the few things that made me happy,” stated Optimus, rather firmly. “You may not know this Rodimus, but Cybertron was nowhere near as prosperous as it is now, even before the war. Reading allowed me to dream of a golden age for Cybertron, like the one mentioned in some of the older data pads,” he continued “The Cybertron that you and I are lucky enough to live on today.” “What else kept you happy?” “My job, and my friends,” Optimus finally turned to face Rodimus “Over anything else, never lose faith in those closest to you Rodimus. For in your darkest times, they will be the light that guides you to safety.” Rodimus stood in awe, not sure of how to reply to what Optimus had just told him. The Prime could see this, and decided to move the conversation along. “Now, the reason I brought you hear,” he began. Optimus strolled over to a desk in the middle of the office and pressed a small button. Almost as soon as he did, a hologram of a planet appeared above the desk. A planet that Rodimus had neither previously seen nor heard of. “While going through old data logs and Space-Bridge co-ordinates, the scientist Mainframe discovered a set of trans-warp co-ordinates which lead to this planet,” Optimus continued on, as Rodimus stared at the rotating hologram “This planet was not previously known to Cybertronian scientists, and so a small study was carried out on the planets geography. From what he can tell, it does indeed support life. Many forms of it, in fact.”

Optimus stopped and looked over at Rodimus. “Rodimus?”

“Yeah, yeah, different life and stuff, I’m listening.”

Optimus returned to the hologram. “As I was saying, we would like to gain a better understanding of the creatures that inhabit this world. From what we’ve gathered so far, we can tell that they have built towns and cities across almost the entire span of the planet. We’d like to know more about their culture and science, more than anything.” “Uh huh,” replied Rodimus, rather dimly “And what does this have to do with me?” Optimus began to walk closer to Rodimus, before directing the small, red Autobot to follow him. “Come with me.” Optimus walked out of the office, and Rodimus followed swift. The entered an elevator, but not the same one which Rodimus had come up to the waiting room through, which soon began to descend. Soon, Rodimus couldn’t see into the big city outside, only the dark ground beneath it. Wherever Optimus was talking him, it was meant to be hidden. They stepped out of the elevator after going down for a few minutes, before walking down a long corridor into a massive, well lit room.

“Rodimus,” said Optimus “Welcome to the science division.”

Oooh, I like this. The idea of Optimus running things on Cybertron is a different take on things-- he's kind of like Animated Ultra Magnus in that regard. And the idea that the Autobots just go to Earth out of curiousity changes things up for once. There's currently no Decepticon threat looming over the Autobots, so they can breathe a little and live their lives out peacefully, doing whatever it is they want to (within reason)-- in this case, go out and see the universe around them. This will likely lead to a good deal of character development, seeing as the Autobots actually have plenty of time to sit down and talk this time around.

Anyways, consider me hooked. I'll be looking forward to further installments.

I like the premese so far. :)  And Zombiebot's right having Optimus in the role of TFA Ultra Magnus is a creative touch. :thumb

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Yup, Cybertron's all calm and quiet and what not. Nothing really goes on there anymore, save for the odd construction site. While the first few updates will focus primarily on the Autobots, and their settling in on Earth, there is a group of Decepticons that will show up.

    ;)

Thanks. Always good to have another reader on board! :)

Assuming you really do continue updating this, consider me one of your loyal readers. I like the premise so far. I also love how you write Optimus; if I ever had the talent of organization to write, I plan on Optimus being a bookworm too. It's an odd touch, but it seems right for some reason. It feels very refreshing to have a living Cybertron; I always see that as better than the barren alternative. Cool idea to leave Optimus on Cybertron and have the newbie leader be the one on earth too. I'm curious now on what he would be doing then, but it is something that might make more sense than the usual status quo.

In other words, great job. :thumb

Thanks everyone for the warm reception. As I said, this is my first experience at writing any sort of a fan fiction, so I'm so happy to see that every one is enjoying it so far. I hope you all continue to follow the story as it progresses, and enjoy each new part as much as the last.

Thanks. Always good to hear someone else enjoying it. Optimus being a book worm came from the idea of Orion Pax being a librarian in Prime, and a few other continuities, and I thought that his love of reading old texts should be a trait that lived on in Optimus as he got older. He likes knowledge, not for the same reasons that say, Soundwave or Perceptor would, but he still likes it all the same.

Anyways, I had some free time today, so I whipped up the next part of the first chapter. Here, we meet another Autobot, and Rodimus gets to see his brand new (heheh) ship. Enjoy!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chapter One

    02

Rodimus looked around the massive, rectangular room. It was bigger than any other individual room he’d been in. It made the Kaon Stadium look like a bucket in comparison. There were flood lights all around the room, so that that no tool or piece of equipment was left in the shadows. Cables and wires were strewn out across the floors and pinned to the wall. All around the room, there were Autobots working on one thing or another. But the biggest piece of all was set on a large conveyor belt in the centre of the room.

This is what would no doubt become Rodimus’ ship, he thought to himself.

“I assume by your silence you are amazed by the room, yes?” asked Optimus. Rodimus shook his head to bring himself back to reality before looking up at Optimus. “It’s incredible.” replied Rodimus. Optimus’ eyes perked up, as if he might be smiling behind the plate of metal that covered most of his face. “I just have one question…” continued Rodimus “Why do you keep all of this stuff underground? Is it like, top secret or something?” Optimus chuckled a little. Rodimus thought it was weird seeing Optimus act like this. From what he’d heard, the Autobot leader was normally very dull and serious. Seeing him chuckle seemed out of character. Not that it bothered Rodimus too much anyway.
“Not at all, Rodimus,” began Optimus “We keep this bunker underground so that if any mishaps occur, they can be controlled and contained without worrying about the general public.” “Huh. Makes sense.” replied Rodimus. The thought that Optimus might be hiding something did occur to Rodimus, but the Autobot leader’s trusted him with a lot so far, why hide anything now? “Rodimus, there’s someone that I’d like you to meet,” Optimus gestured out his hands to a small, disproportionate looking robot that was waddling towards them. The Autobot scientist had long, bulky arms, in direct contrast to stumpy, skinny legs. His torso was wide, and mounted by a windshield and car roof. Small square, lights protruded from his head, which seemed to flicker as he moved. Small wings protruded from his back, and a mask of sorts wrapped around his small head like a big scarf. “Rodimus, this is Wheeljack. He’s an old friend of mine.” Wheeljack lent out a hand towards Rodimus, who gladly took it. “Nice to meet ya, kid!” Wheeljack’s handshake was strong, and left Rodimus rubbing his hand from the cramp the scientist had given him. Wheeljack had evidently been around for a long time. His joints creaked as he moved. Parts of him seemed loose, on the verge of flat out falling off of him. For all Rodimus knew, he might be twice as old as Optimus, which would be saying something. Although, it might have just been from the long-time exposure to chemicals and the like, thought Rodimus. “It’s nice to meet you too.” replied Rodimus. “Optimus has told me a good deal about you. About how you took command of Kup’s team after he fell injured during the battle at Sim-Fur. What rank were you on his team than?” “Um, scout.” “Wow, Scout! And you just jumped right into the spot for leader. And on top of that, you and your team won the battle for the Autobots. No wonder Optimus wants you for this job!” Wheeljack was definitely an enthusiastic character, no question. He certainly seemed to know a lot more about Rodimus’ new job than Rodimus did. Then again, so did everyone, it seemed.
“Wheeljack, would you mind showing Rodimus his ship? He’ll need to become familiar with it before he heads out on his mission.” “Wait, what? MY ship?!” exclaimed Rodimus. Optimus looked at Rodimus for a moment before understanding the meaning behind his enquiry. “Rodimus, I brought you here because I want you to lead the mission heading towards this new world.” “What?!” said Rodimus, with shock in his voice “But why me? Surely there are loads of other Autobots out there that are much more qualified for this kind of thing! Warpath! Pyro! Bulkhead! Any of them but me!” Rodimus was desperate to get out of this – Not because he didn’t want to be a part of it, but he really didn’t want to be entrusted with leadership. “Rodimus, all of those Autobots are highly experienced military soldiers.” replied Optimus.
“Exactly! And that’s just what you want on this mission.” Exclaimed Rodimus.
“No Rodimus,” continued Optimus “I want leadership experience.”

“Then once again, it begs the question,” questioned Rodimus “Why me? I had a one-time thing. Nothing else.” Optimus put his hand on Rodimus’ shoulder, and suddenly Rodimus felt a lot better about everything. He looked up at Optimus. “Rodimus, you may not have a lot of experience as a leader, but I believe you have the potential to be a great one,” Rodimus smiled upon hearing this “Please, will you lead this mission?” “Yeah, okay. I’ll do it.” Replied Rodimus, feeling better about it now. Optimus’ ability to reassure anyone about anything in any given situation is what made him such a good leader. His speeches to the Autobots throughout the war are what kept them alive and fighting. If it weren’t for his brilliant way with words, many believe that Optimus wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Decepticons and win the war.
“Good to hear.” Stated Optimus “Now, if you’d kindly follow Wheeljack down to the ship, I’m sure he’d be happy to show you around.” Wheeljack nodded, before leading Rodimus down a flight of stairs toward the ground floor of the room. Mounted to the walls were a series of cranes and conveyor belts, built with the intent of easing the transport of tools and materials around the room. Rodimus was still in awe at the size of it. Wheeljack glanced back and noticed Rodimus in his entranced state. “It’s certainly something, isn’t it?” said Wheeljack with a sense of pride. Rodimus turned and lucked at Wheeljack. “Hmm? Oh yeah, definitely.” “Designed the place myself. With a little help of course, but all my ideas.”

    “That’s pretty cool.”
    “You think so?”

“Yeah, definitely! I don’t know many people who’ve designed their own bunker before. And something like this at that. Seems like quite the achievement.” Wheeljack’s eyes lit up with glee. Rodimus’ words were probably some of the nicest things anyone had ever said to him. Most people thought of the loony old Autobot scientist who just blew stuff up. Maybe Rodimus would grow to think that in time, maybe not. But for now, Wheeljack thought he was a pretty nice guy. The two reached the ground floor and walked towards Rodimus’ soon-to-be ship. However, upon closer inspection, the ship looked like it was about ready to fall apart. It was covered in rust, one of the engines was coming loose, and it was missing panels.
“Wow,” said Rodimus, surprised by the poor condition of the ship. “Now, I know it doesn’t look like much,” “You can say that again.” Rodimus interrupted. “It may not look like much,” Wheeljack continued “But it should be enough to get you and crew off planet, through the Space-Bridge, and land safely on this marble you’re headed for.” “Should be?!” exclaimed Rodimus, now somewhat terrified of just being near the ship. “Well, we won’t know for sure how well it’ll hold up until we send it through a Space-Bridge,” Wheeljack could see that what he was saying wasn’t easing Rodimus’ worries in any way, so he decided to move on. “But, eh, it’ll be fit as a fiddle by the time you’re leaving. Trust me, you won’t even recognise it!” “And you’re sure about that?” Wheeljack remained silent for a moment. “Wheeljack?” “Yes, I promise you, it’ll be in tip-top shape before you’re ready to head off on your journey.” “Alright, if you’re sure,” replied Rodimus “But don’t let me down!” “Wouldn’t dream of it.” Chirped Wheeljack. “Now then, shall we take a look inside?” Wheeljack said as he gestured towards the open air-lock on the side of the ship. Rodimus stepped on the stairway leading up to it, and the ship creaked a bit. He stopped to make sure nothing would fall on top of him, before moving further into the ship. Wheeljack followed shortly behind.

The walked into the bridge of the ship. A long row of control panels lined the front of the ship just under the main viewing screen. Two seats were situated on opposite sides of the console, and then a command seat was placed directly behind them. Behind that, stationed at two separate consoles on opposite sides of the bridge, were another two seats. Other than that however, Rodimus found the bridge to be very dull looking. Nothing about it really wowed him. “So, this is the bridge, eh?” “Yup,” replied Wheeljack “This is where all the magic happens. From that seat, is where you’ll be commanding your team.” Rodimus glanced over at the tall chair in the centre of the bridge. He sat down in the chair, and adjusted himself to get comfortable. “Yeah… I could get used to this.” Wheeljack chuckled, watching Rodimus fiddle around in the chair. “Does the ship have a name?” “Hmm?”

“The ship? Does it have a name?”
“Oh! Hold on a second, I’ll check.”

Wheeljack flicked open a small screen built into his right forearm. Using his index finger, he flicked through the information. He suddenly stopped, having found what he was looking for. “Aha!” he cried, happy that he’d found the information he was looking for. “So, what’s it called?”

    “The Lost Light.”

Lost Light? I haven't had the oppurtunity to read MTMTE, but it sounds interesting so having a series based on that voyage could be interesting.

Wheeljack's my new favorite character (until the next one :p )

Rodimus' leadership issues were done well and very believable so that's another plus.

All in all, great update. I can't wait for take off.

    Wheeljack! Yay!

    Lost Light! Yay!

I can't tell which I like more! Anyways, looking forward to the crew. It'd be kinda awesome if you made the crew the TFTM cast, but that's just wishful thinking and I bet what you have in mind is just as awesome if not more so.

Oh yeah, I'm on a roll! But please don't get too used to this level of updates, as I might eventually just slow down all of a sudden. :lol

Oh good, everybody likes Wheeljack! Always good to hear! Rodimus' crew won't be a large one I'm afraid, but hopefully you'll find it to be a good selection of characters. Rodimus' leadership issues are something that I'm hoping to continue working with as this story progresses.

    Anyways, on to todays update, and there's a lot to read in this one. I think I might make the next one a bit shorter to balance things out a bit;

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter One

    03

    “The Lost Light, eh?”

Rodimus looked around the bridge of the ship, glancing at the various leaks and cracks in the ceiling. This ship was definitely past its prime, and would require a lot of work to get it flight worthy again. “I can see where someone might come up with a name like that for this old rust bucket.” “Like I said, she may be old, but she still has a bit of flight left in her. She just needs some fine tuning is all.” replied Wheeljack. Rodimus trusted Wheeljack, and believed that he would get the ship ready and on time for his departure. His biggest worry right now was the responsibility for several other Autobots that would soon be placed up on him.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” smirked Rodimus. Suddenly, a small panel on his arm popped up and began flashing. Rodimus stared at the little screen on his forearm before realising what it meant. He pressed a small button and Optimus’ face appeared on the screen. “Rodimus,” began the Autobot leader. “I need to report to Prowl and I to meet your team and get your debriefing. We are approximately five clicks from the research centre.” “Alright Optimus, I’ll be there as soon as I can. Rodimus out.” Rodimus pressed another button on the panel and the screen collapsed back into his forearm. He looked back up at Wheeljack.

“Looks like I gotta go.” stated Rodimus, rather disappointed at that fact.

“Don’t worry about it, kid. I’ll see you again before you leave.”

Rodimus smiled at the old scientist, before transforming into car mode and driving out of the ship and out of the science division. As he drove through the streets again, he found himself observing everything around him. He looked at each individual building, every sign, and soon realised that it’d be a long time before he ever saw any of it again. This saddened him a little. He always enjoyed going out for the night, spending hours on end in MacAdam’s Old Oil House, watching Autobots arm wrestle one another and drink to their spark’s content. Most of all, Rodimus would miss his friends; Sideburn, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Cliffjumper. He would miss them all, and Rodimus couldn’t imagine anyone replacing them.
Suddenly, Rodimus bumped into a short, blue and orange robot mode. The Autobot appeared to turn into some form of truck, and most of his vehicle mode seemed to protrude from his back. “Hey! Watch where yous is goings!” screamed the robot down at Rodimus. Rodimus transformed and calmly slinked past the bot. “Sorry, just, a lot on my mind.” The short Autobot smirked before returning to his conversation. Rodimus soon arrived at his destination. He entered a large, oblong building with a massive Autobot Symbol printed on the side. Two Autotrooper guards stood at each side of the entrance. Rodimus expected some hassle from them, seeing as how this wasn’t a building he regularly went into. Fortunately, they gave him no trouble, and he walked right in. They must’ve been pre-programmed to recognise him when he showed up, Rodimus figured.

He came into a small square room, where Optimus and Prowl and were standing, waiting for Rodimus. Optimus noticed the small red Autobot enter the room, and immediately greeted him. “Ah, Rodimus, welcome.” exclaimed Optimus. “Hello, again sir,” replied Rodimus, nodding towards Optimus. He glanced over at Prowl. “Hello, Prowl.” The police officer said nothing, wishing to speak to Rodimus as little as was possible. “We are here so that you can meet your team, and then Prowl will give you a debriefing.” “Alright, cool,” replied Rodimus, looking around “So, where’s my team?” Optimus turned to his right. “You can come in now, when you’re ready.” Almost as soon as Optimus said what he did, a pair of doors slid open. Through them walked three Autobots, all roughly the same height as Rodimus. The first robot was a chunky yellow one, with lights and wheels on his forearms, and a moveable visor on his forehead. The second was a small, feminine, blue-green robot with gold high-lights. And the third and final robot was a blocky, white and red Autobot with head lights on his chest.
“Rodimus, this is your team,” stated Optimus, gesturing towards the three Autobot next to him. Rodimus was unsure of what to say. On one hand, he was expecting to be left in charge of a much larger team, considering that they were venturing to another planet. One of the other hand, however, having only three Autobots to command would make this whole leadership a lot easier for him. Optimus gestured towards the yellow robot. “This is Hot Shot;” he began “He’ll act as a scout for your team, and has been training for the last few weeks in the shooting range.” Hot Shot leapt over towards Rodimus, before grabbing his hand and shaking it. “Real nice to meet you, Rodimus, sir!” he exclaimed. Rodimus could already tell that the young scout was easily excited, most likely due to the fact that he probably had very little experience in anything, even scouting. He’d be fun to deal with on a foreign world. “It’s nice to meet you too, Hot Shot.” A huge grin appeared across the scout’s face, and he happily stepped back to where he was. “The next member of your team is Glyph,” Optimus introduced the small female robot. She didn’t stand forward to greet Rodimus, but instead smiled and gave a friendly wave from where she stood. “Hello!” she said. “Hey,” replied Rodimus, giving back a slight wave of the hand as he did. “Glyph is an Anthropologist of sorts. She studies foreign cultures and civilisations, and she’s looking to get a first-hand experience on this journey. “

    “Is that so?” enquired Rodimus

“Yup,” replied Glyph “I’ve always wanted to visit another planet. This seemed like my one and only chance, so, yeah.”

Rodimus grinned. He admired the young femme’s enthusiasm for her work. And plus, he figured he’d get more of an intelligent conversation out of her than Hot Shot. Optimus stepped over to the last member of the team, and put his hand on the Autobot’s shoulder. “And finally, this is First Aid,” said Optimus. First Aid stepped forward and shook Rodimus’ hand, but didn’t say anything. “First Aid will be acting as a medic on your team, as well as a Science researcher.” “I’m hoping to study whatever technology this planet and its people have to offer, and compare it to that of Cybertronian technology.” “Sounds cool.” replied Rodimus. Rodimus was far from the most tech-savvy Autobot on Cybertron, but he knew his way around the odd device. Maybe some time with First Aid would change that, for better or worse. Prowl marched in between Rodimus and the three other Autobots. “Right, if you’re all done being friendly, then I believe you have a debriefing to attend,” he stated firmly. “If you’ll follow me into the room on your left, we can get this over and done with. Believe, I want this all to be over as much as you do.” Prowl glanced at Rodimus as we walked by. Even though Prowl had a visor, and couldn’t express much emotion with it, Rodimus could tell that in his head, Prowl was glaring at him. Rodimus was never really sure why Prowl didn’t like him. Perhaps it was because Prowl was all about following orders and code of contact and all that, whereas Rodimus has always followed his guy on the battle field. Prowl’s mind worked using logic, and Rodimus’ mind worked irrationally.

Rodimus always figured that, no matter how hard he tried, he and Prowl would probably never get along. So, why try?

He followed Prowl and the others into a square room filled with chairs and desks. At the front of the room, attached to the wall, was a large holo-board. Prowl stepped into the room and pressed a button next to the board. All of a sudden, the board was flooded with writing and diagrams. Prowl took his place in front of the board. “Take a seat.” He commanded. There was never any ‘please’ or ‘thank you’ with Prowl, unless he was taking to Optimus. Otherwise, it was all orders and commands. Each of the Autobots took a seat, before Prowl began his forthcoming lecture. Rodimus sat in the back, so as to pay as little attention as possible. “Now then,” began Prowl “We have established a strict code of conduct for your unique type of mission,” “Of course you have...” muttered Rodimus under his breath. Prowl glanced up at him before returning to his lecture. “The first rule you must always abide by is; No contact with foreign entities. This is more for their sake than yours. Some civilisations might not take too kindly to giant robots walking around,” he continued on “Secondly; you are to obtain local vehicular modes as soon as you arrive. Don’t even think of leaving the ship until you have done this.
“Third; you are there to study these beings and their way of life. Nothing else. You are not soldiers, nor are you foreign aid. Just let them get on with their lives and watch from a distance.” Prowl paused for a moment and glanced around the room. “Any questions?” Hot Shot raised his hand slowly “Are you finished now?” “No.” replied Prowl, as Hot Shot’s head dropped on to the table in front of him. No-one liked Prowl’s lectures, except for Prowl of course. They just seemed to drag on forever. “Back on topic,” Prowl continued on “Through the use of construction drones, we have established a small Space-Bridge on the dark side of the planet’s moon, which will enable you to return to Cybertron, but only in an emergency!” Prowl’s lecture went on for another long while, much to everyone’s dismay.

“And that concludes that.” Prowl closed up a small staff that he had been using to point to different pieces of information on the board. He pressed a button and all the information vanished. Rodimus’ head lifted from the table “Huh? It’s over?” The four Autobots clambered out of their chairs and went to leave the room. Rodimus waited behind, hopping to speak with Prowl in private. “So, Prowl,” said Rodimus “How about one of these, before I leave?” Prowl looked back at Rodimus to see he had his arms spread out wide, indicating that he was looking for a hug. Prowl remained silent for a moment, before acknowledging the sentiment. “No.” Rodimus dropped his arms and sighed. “Fine the, but at least tell me this,” Rodimus began “Why do you hate me?”
Prowl paused for a moment, unsure of how to react to the question. “I don’t ‘hate’ you Rodimus.” “Oh really?!” exclaimed Rodimus “Then how come we’ve never been able to hold a conversation? Or have one to begin with?” Prowl kept quiet for a brief moment, giving himself time to formulate an answer. “I don’t hate you. I worry for you.” “That’s ridiculous.” “No, it’s not,” began Prowl “During the war, I saw plenty of young, confident Autobots like yourself, run into battle based on a gut feeling, only to have a limb blow off, or worse.” Rodimus was taken back a little by this. He had never really thought of Prowl as someone that was in anyway compassionate. “Autobots like that are just another problem for everyone else, in any kind of situation. We don’t need Autobots like that.” Prowl paused for a moment “I’m trusting Optimus’ judgement of you on this. If it were up to me, you wouldn’t take a step away from this planet. So don’t screw this up!”

Prowl went to leave the room. “Prowl,” The Police Officer stopped and glanced back at Rodimus “Thanks.” “Don’t mention it.” replied Prowl. He turned back around suddenly and pointed at Rodimus. “Literally, do not mention this conversation to anyone! Got it?!”

    “Got it.”

Prowl turned around and walked out of the room. Rodimus smiled to himself, quite happy with what he had just heard.

Heh. Clever reference to G_13 there.

Anyways, Yay, First Aid! Glyph was also an unexpected bonus.

    To Earth we go!

Wait, what? :lol  I assure you, it was unintentional.

Glad to see you're liking the character choices. And no Earth just yet. Rodimus still has to say good bye to a friend of his ;)

Oh that. That was meant to be a reference to Futurama, more than anything else. :p

Thanks, glad to hear you're liking it. And yes, it was Huffer. I don't know why I chose him for that part, it just seemed appropriate. :lol

Short update here, just to balance out the last one a bit. The designs for the characters in this are coming, slow but surely. Very, very, very slowly, I might add.

And just as an FYI, we'll be on Cybertron for a couple more updates still. I don't want to rush their heading towards Earth, but it shouldn't be too much longer until we head off. Anyway, on to today's little update.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter One

    04

Rodimus walked back out into the room where he first met his team. Optimus, Prowl and the others stood there waiting for him, as they had done before.

“Now with your debriefing completed,” Optimus began “I believe the most appropriate thing to do is for you all to go and collect any personal belongings you wish to bring with you, and say goodbye to your acquaintances,” Optimus handed each of the four Autobots a small data pad “In approximately forty eight hours, you are to be at these co-ordinates and be ready for your departure.” They each took a data pad before nodding and going their separate ways.
Not too long afterwards, Rodimus had returned to his personal quarters on the East side of Iacon. He had in his hands a small metal box. He took some of his favourite things off the shelf over his stasis bed, and put them into the box. They were things like photos of him and his friends, his medal for bravery and innovation during the war, his graduation certificate from boot camp. He also had a few music and film data pads in there, just for those days when he wasn’t really doing anything. He was going to miss it all; the tall metal buildings, the busy streets, the fun nights out. He knew that, for as long as he was on this alien world, leading these Autobots he knew nothing about, he wouldn’t get a chance to do or see any of that. Life was going to get more stressful, and a lot more boring.
Heck, Rodimus wasn’t even sure what his purpose was on the team. He was really only there for an emergency, many of which he couldn’t see happening. Glyph was going to be studying the lives and culture of these aliens, First Aid would be studying their science and medicine, Hot Shot would be doing, something, and then what would be left for poor old Rodimus to do? Nothing, that’s what. Rodimus stopped to think for a moment, before deciding on his next course of action. He opened the small screen on his arm and pressed a button.

    “Hello?” answered Optimus

    “Hey, Optimus, it’s me, Rodimus,”

“Ah, Rodimus, how can I help you?” Optimus happily replied “I was wondering,” began Rodimus “Could I possibly borrow some of your data pads for the trip, particularly ones about the last Civil War? I’d like to learn more about it.” “Of course Rodimus,” replied Optimus “I’d be happy to lend you some data pads.” Rodimus smiled at such a warm response “Thank you, sir. I appreciate it.” He stopped for a moment “I’m not going too far by asking this, am I?” he began “I mean, I don’t want to interrupt your reading of anything.” “Of course not Rodimus,” Optimus held up a duplicate set of data pads “I have copies.” Rodimus chuckled “Alright, thanks Optimus.” “No problem Rodimus.” The screen went black and folded back into Rodimus’ forearm. “Well, that should at least help me kill a few weeks before I get really bored.” Rodimus thought to himself. Suddenly there was a knock on his door. Rodimus went over and pushed a button, causing the two panels to slide back into the wall and reveal a short, red little Autobot with two horns protruding from his head.

    “Hey there, sport!”

I'm guessing Cliffjumper at the end? Nice to see Optimus and Rodimus bonding a little too. You're getting really good at this; I'm hooked already.

Because they are always my favorite part in transformers, I can't wait for those designs. :D

Oh hey, this exists still. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it, I've just been lazy, but here's a nice long update to make up for it.

Thanks, always good to hear good reviews. :)

For tonight's episode of "Transformers: Earth Bound", the role of Sideburn shall be played by Neil Patrick Harris.

    “Cliffjumper?!”

Rodimus was surprised to see his old friend at the door. Cliffjumper had been working shifts at the Kaon Prison for the past few weeks, and had more or less been on the opposite side of the planet, far from where Rodimus lived in Iacon. “I can’t believe you’re here!” He shook hands with the small red Autobot, but not in the conventional sense; they first slapped each other’s palms, then they slapped the backs of their hands, before bumping fists. “Yeah, I heard you were going to be going away for a while,” Cliffjumper began “So, I got two days off work in the prison, hopped on a train to Iacon, and here I am!” Rodimus smiled. The fact that his friend made such an effort to see him in his final days on Cybertron made him all warm inside.

“Heh, sorry I didn’t let you know sooner. The last day or so has just been really hectic. Haven’t had a drink in hours!” said Rodimus, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. Cliffjumper put an arm around his friend’s shoulder and guided him out the front door. “Well then, you’re in look my friend,” he continued as they walked through a long, wide hallway towards the entrance of Rodimus’ building. “I’ve got everyone waiting at MacAdam’s for you! We’re all gonna have a drink, some nice food, all to say good bye to you before you head off!” Cliffjumper paused for a moment, thinking about what he’d said.

“But, be sure to act surprised when we get there,” he exclaimed “I wasn’t supposed to tell you that last part.”

Rodimus laughed. The two stepped out of the building and into the busy night time streets of Iacon. Rodimus looked down at his stumpy little friend. “Who’s ‘everyone’?” asked Rodimus. “Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Sideburn, the whole gang will be there!” A huge grin shot across Rodimus’ face. He’d never been more excited for anything in his life. He kept thinking back over what Cliffjumper had said, itching to get to the bar, when something suddenly dawned on him.

“How’d you know I was leaving?”

Cliffjumper stopped in the street and looked up at Rodimus “What do you mean?” He asked. “You said you heard about me leaving, even though I hadn’t told anyone yet. How’d you find out?” Cliffjumper’s eyes twitched back and forth for a moment. “All right, I guess I should be honest with you,” he began woefully “It was a slow day in the prison, and I got bored, so, the files were there in the main computer, and I had a look through some of the stuff from Iacon; from the Science division in particular.” he finished “What?! Do you have any idea how much trouble you could get yourself into?!” Cliffjumper was silent for a moment, as Rodimus glared down at him waiting for an answer. “Nah, I’m just messing with you man!” Cliffjumper gave Rodimus a slight nudge. “I was talking to Wheeljack the other day, and he told me all about your mission.” Rodimus fell apart inside. He should’ve figured. He wasn’t going on some off-the-books, military mission. It was a routine exploration mission. Within a few weeks, all of Cybertron would probably know about it. “Man, don’t do that to me!” exclaimed Rodimus, chuckling as he did. “It really has been a while since you put any Energon in you, isn’t it?” laughed Cliffjumper, lightly backhanding Rodimus on the chest. “Come on, we’re nearly there.”

Within a few minutes, they reached MacAdam’s. As they entered, nearly everyone there was cheering Rodimus’ name. He smiled at the gesture, having never excited a crowd like that before. The two walked over to the bar, where their friends were waiting. As he did so, Rodimus received several pats on the back. “Thanks guys,” He said, having finally sat down “I really appreciate this.” “I can’t believe you’re ditching us, Roddy.” Said Sunstreaker “Yeah, it won’t be the same around here without you.” finished Sideswipe. Sideswipe and Sunstreaker were brothers, more or less. They were forged from a split spark, and shared a body mold. One of them is supposed to be backwards, but they never quite figured out which one.

“Good luck to you Rodimus,” said Bluestreak “You’re making us all proud. I mean seriously, how many of us will ever have the chance to go to another planet! It’ll be an incredible experience for you!” “Thanks, Bluestreak.” replied Rodimus, before the silver and navy Autobot next to him could say any more. Bluestreak always liked to talk, and once he started he found it hard to stop. Not that it bother Bluestreak. He liked chatting with others, even if it just meant sharing some trivial piece of information with a stranger on the street. Bluestreak felt it was the best way to make new friends. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Bluestreak was a nice guy, and there was no denying that fact.
Next to him was a similar looking Autobot with a blue and red colour scheme, called Smokescreen. Smokescreen raised a glass to Rodimus and smiled, but didn’t say anything. “Why’s he so quiet?” asked Rodimus. “Oh, I bet him he couldn’t keep his mouth shut for a week,” stated Sideswipe “He’s still got a few hours left.” That didn’t surprise Rodimus in the slightest. Odds are, if Smokescreen wasn’t at work or in MacAdam’s, he was gambling in one of Iacon’s casinos. He accepted any kind of bet, and it’s nearly got him killed approximately seven times, according to Rodimus’ calculations. It was a bit of an issue for the others in the group, including Rodimus, as they felt it was doing more harm than good to Smokescreen. Smokescreen, however, had never thought of seeking help for his gambling addiction, as he felt it was harmless.

“Can’t say that surprises me at all.” said Rodimus.

Rodimus looked around. He noticed someone was missing from the bar. “Where’s Sideburn?” All six Autobots glanced around, looking for the blue and white Autobot. “There!” Bluestreak pointed to a small booth, which was filled by Sideburn and three naïve femme-bots. “Watch me kill his buzz!” said Cliffjumper, chuckling as he slid off the bar stool and began walking over to his friend.
Sideburn sat with his arm around one of the femmes, while the other two listened in closely to his riveting tales. There was no doubt in anyone’s minds, except for the three femmes, that everything coming out of Sideburn’s mouth was entirely false. “So there I was, just about ready to head out to fight Megatron himself,” he began “when suddenly, a group of Autobots fell ill to the deadly disease that is cosmic rust!” The three femmes gasped at the thought. “But, because of my perfectly waxed armour, I was immune, and so I carried them all to the nearest medic-bay in a single journey!” “Wow!” replied one of the femmes. “So, whatever happened to Megatron?” asked another. “Oh,” Sideburn thought for a moment “He spontaneously combusted because he was jealous of how awesome I am.” The femmes all gasped and chatted amongst themselves.

Then Cliffjumper arrived at the booth, and Sideburn’s confidence dropped.

“Hey Sideburn, old pal!” he said gleefully “Uh, hey Cliffjumper,” replied Sideburn, knowing this could be nothing but bad news for him. “Can I help you with something?” he asked, knowing he’d regret it. “Oh, I just heard from the job,” “The job?” Sideburn was unsure of where Cliffjumper was going with this. “Yeah, you know, Pipes’ Plumbing, where we work together?” The femmes looked at Sideburn with surprise and disgust, as he chuckled nervously. “Yeah, they need you to head down to Main Street to fix a leak in the sewers. There’s waist all over the road and the path, really disgusting and smelly stuff.” The femmes pulled away from Sideburn, not wanting to be near him. “You should see this guy work, he really gets stuck into his work,” continued Cliffjumper, having now turned to the femmes in the corner of the booth “Of course, no one wants to go near him afterwards, but that’s the price you pay for a hard day’s work.” Cliffjumper chuckled as the three femmes slid from the booth and left the bar. “Thanks Cliffjumper.” said Sideburn, rather annoyed. “Anytime buddy,” replied Cliffjumper, directing Sideburn over to the bar where the others were seated “Now come on, this is our last night with Rodimus. Let’s make the most of it!” Cliffjumper sat Sideburn down next to Rodimus, before sitting himself over next to Sunstreaker. “Hey Rodimus,” began Sideburn “So I hear you’re headed off to an alien world soon.” “Yeah, ‘fraid so buddy.” Replied Rodimus “Well, while you’re there, hook up with an alien chick for me, bro!” said Sideburn jokingly, at least that’s what Rodimus liked to think, and hoped. Sideburn was an odd case as far as Rodimus was concerned, and he was far from surprised by his antics over at the booth. But he didn’t care either, mostly because it was always hilarious when he failed to get a girl.

“Now,” exclaimed Sideburn, standing up from the bar stool and raising a glass of Energon “Let us all give a toast to our good pal Rodimus, and let’s make one of his last nights on Cybertron – wait for it – legendary!”

They each raised a glass and cheered for their friendship.

Good. Then I have done well! :D

So yeah, we're just about to head off to Earth now. What adventures await Rodimus and his crew on the other side? All will be revealed, but not in this update..

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Chapter One

    06

“So Rodimus,” began Bluestreak “What rank are you on this mission? Are you a scout? I bet you’re a scout, because you’re usually-”

“Shut it Bluestreak!” interrupted Sideswipe. Bluestreak fell quiet, and made irritated gestures towards Sideswipe behind the latter’s back. “So yeah, Roddy, what rank are you on this mission?” Rodimus looked over at Sideswipe, who was leaning on the bar with one arm, and was holding a drink with the other. “Leader,” replied Rodimus “I’m leading the mission.” His friends were taken back. They had all heard his story about taking lead in the midst of battle, but none of them had ever expected him to become leader of his own team so quickly. “Wow,” exclaimed Sunstreaker “That’s incredible buddy. Congrats!” “It’s not really anything incredible,” Rodimus began “It’s only an exploratory mission, so it’s not as if I’ll be leading them into battle or anything. At best, I’ll just be making sure everyone keeps in line and doesn’t do anything stupid.” He finished. “Still man, it’s something,” began Smokescreen “And it could lead to even greater things.

    Everyone stared at Smokescreen.

    “What, wait, oh scrap!”

Smokescreen slapped himself in the face, having realised that he’d just lost his bet. “Haha!” laughed Sideswipe “Pay up you big talker!” Smokescreen reached into a pocket compartment in his shoulder and took out four small green tokens. “Fine,” he sighed “Here’s your fifty shanix.” Smokescreen handed Sideswipe the tokens. Sideswipe took them and counted them, making sure everything was there. “Haha! And to think you only another hour left and you’d have won!” chuckled Sideswipe. Rodimus looked over at Smokescreen “You really should get some help for your gambling addiction, Smoke.” Smokescreen shrugged and took another sip of his drink. Sideswipe held up the lot of tokens Smokescreen had given him, as well as a few of his own, and stood up next to the bar.

“Hey everyone, next round’s on Smokescreen and me!”

Everyone in the bar cheered, happy to know they wouldn’t be paying for their next drink. The rest of the night went along fairly smoothly. Rodimus had a good long conversation with each of his friends, drank a good bit, and ate a fair amount too. At one point, he turned to Cliffjumper and asked “Hey Cliff, you never told me, how do you know Wheeljack?” Cliffjumper turned and looked at his friend. “Oh, a few weeks back when I started in Kaon, he came in with a shipment of Stasis Cuffs that he’d recently invented. So, I got talkin’ to him, and we’ve kept in touch since.” Rodimus nodded, finding this to be a fairly believable answer.
The next day, Rodimus didn’t really do much. He stayed on his recharge slab for a little longer than usual, having been up late the previous night at MacAdam’s. As a matter of fact, the seven Autobots were there until last call. He went through the boxes of belongings he had filled to bring with him, making sure he packed everything he wanted to bring with him, and nothing unnecessary or unwanted had been put into the boxes. After all that, he just lied down to relax, and thought about everything that was ahead of him.

The following day, Rodimus arrived at the co-ordinates that he was given by Optimus on the data pad two days earlier. With him, he had his box of personal items. When he got there, Optimus, Prowl, Hot Shot, and Glyph were waiting. He got to where they were standing before transforming into robot mode and taking a step forward. “No Wheeljack or First Aid yet?” He asked. “Wheeljack will be with us shortly, and I’m hoping First Aid will do the same.” replied Optimus. Just as he did, First Aid stumbled up to the group. “You’re late.” stated Prowl “I know,” began First Aid “I’m sorry. I had trouble finding something, but I found it, and now I’m here!” He panted, his systems slightly over heated from moving quicker than he was used to. “What couldn’t you find that was so important?” asked Rodimus, out of curiosity. “Oh, um, it was a… um, an album.” replied First Aid, rather hesitantly. “Oh cool, what kind?”

    “Um, a Rosanna album.”

    “Rosanna?”

“Yeah. Why, is that bad?” inquired First Aid, unsure of what Rodimus meant by his reaction. “No, not at all,” answered Rodimus reassuringly “I just wouldn’t have pegged you as the type of guy who would listen to Rosanna.” Moments later, the ground shook beneath them as something began to rise from the ground. While Rodimus and his crew nearly fell on their backs, Optimus and Prowl remained still, presumably because they were used to this kind of thing. Wheeljack soon rose out of the ground on a large platform elevator, the Lost Light parked behind him. “Everyone ready to go?” He chuckled. “Everybody go on board and put away your personal belongings. Then, return to the bridge for a short briefing before your departure.” ordered Prowl. The four Autobots headed towards the lost light. Rodimus was quickly stopped by Optimus. “Rodimus,” began Optimus as he picked up a box “Here are the data pads you asked me for.” “Oh, thanks!” replied Rodimus “I’d almost forgotten about them. Just put them on top of the other box.” Optimus nodded and placed the box in Rodimus’ arms.

Rodimus put his stuff into a small room, similar to his own back in Iacon, but smaller, and went out to the bridge, which Wheeljack had shown him earlier, where Optimus, Prowl and Wheeljack were waiting. “Now that you’re all here,” began Prowl “We can begin. I have already given you all a set of guidelines as to how to behave on an alien world. In case you need to brush up on any of these guidelines, they have been uploaded into the ship’s data base.” Prowl pushed a small button on the ship’s main console, causing several pages of writing to appear on the viewing monitor behind them. He pushed the button again, causing the screen to return to its clear state.
“Seeing as how none of you know how to pilot a star ship, we have set the auto-pilot to land in a mountain range approximately ten miles from a small alien town, so far as we can tell. Once you enter the planet’s atmosphere, the ship’s camouflage will automatically activate, keeping you out of sight of any prying eyes. Once you land, the ship will then use this hologram technology to help it blend in with its surroundings. Then, you are to obtain your vehicular forms and begin your studies.” Prowl stopped for a moment to look around and make sure everyone was paying attention. “Is that understood?” “Yes sir!” the four Autobots replied enthusiastically. Prowl nodded.

“Good luck to you all,” exclaimed Optimus “You are making the citizens of Cybertron, and me, very proud.”

Prowl and Optimus left the ship. As they did, the four Autobots strapped themselves into their seats as Wheeljack put a timer on the Autobot pilot. Rodimus sat in the command chair, Hot Shot and Glyph sat in the two chairs in front of the main viewing screen, and First Aid took his place in one of the seats towards the bag of the chair. Wheeljack turned to face them. “Have fun you lot!” he exclaimed before waddling off the ship.
The ship soon began to rise. As it did, the Space Bridge in front of it activated, opening a large portal through time and space. Now that it was all happening, Rodimus felt both nervous and excited. Who knew what they would find beyond that portal, what mysteries and adventures awaited them. They would all soon find out, as the ships main thrusters activated, and sent them darting through the Space-Bridge vortex.

But in all seriousness, this is getting really good. The Autobots are finally heading off to Earth with all its excitement. You built this up quite well, and I'm excited to see where the Autobot's travels on Earth will take them. Hijinks will ensue!
