Lithium

-shifty eyes- Okay, I'm gonna post my fanfic 'Lithium' here. Only have the first three chapters done, so... yeah. Everyone in this is from G1, except for the Jet Twins. Fallout's my OC, she's Wheeljack's intern. Yes, she gets paid well for it. xD

It was originally a writing piece for my school, which is why I describe the way some of them look. Yep. And Charlie the Unicorn had no influence whatsoever on one of Wheeljack's lines. o.o

Prologue: Falling Away

The rays of the dying sun flickered over Jazz’s face. He looked at the red and black ball of fire before him and felt somewhat sorrowful that the solar system would be gone in a bright flash and a loud bang. He’d never been around a system right before a supernova, and everyone was on edge, himself included. The energy surging from the sun was severely interfering with the ships’ controls, and no one was allowed to do anything that required consumption of the energon being kept for the transwarp back to Cybertron. He opened his com link and heard only static. Interfering with communications too.

There was a particularly bright flash, and Jazz had to close his blue optics as the surge illuminated his black helmet and the blue visor that covered his eyes. The flash lit up his black helmet and his black and white body, catching on the two triangular (somewhat cat-like, but not quite) pieces on the top of his helmet. The robot turned away from the sun, which was increasing in size, and headed for the main cabin.

--|--

Wheeljack twitched slightly. “Alright, if this explodes, we blame Fallout.”

“What?! What did I do?” The younger female exclaimed indignantly. “Plus, people understand when you blow stuff up, ‘Jack. Why pin the blame on me?”

“Because if we destroy this,” The gray, green and red mech explained, “Ratchet will blow a circuit.” The panels on either side of his head flashed blue when he spoke, and the mask covering his lower face hid most of his nervous expression. The solar collector sparkled as another flash from the sun lit the room.

Perceptor and the twins ducked behind a work table while Fallout stood by Wheeljack, already slightly cringing. ‘Jack attached the wires and after a moment, he and Fallout high-fived.

“Awesome!” Jetfire exclaimed, standing up.

“I think you are on a lucky streak, sir.” Jetstorm high-fived his twin. The two were nearly identical, the only differences being their colors and the design of their heads. Perceptor shook his head at them. He had what looked like the lens of a microscope mounted on his shoulder. Perceptor was obviously undersized- he only came up to about Wheeljack’s waist, and was much shorter than the other three in the room.

Wheeljack replaced the solar collector in its’ proper place. He looked somewhat proud. “There- now we might be able to charge up the ships batteries before we make the transwarp.”

“If it doesn’t blow us up first.”

Wheeljack looked balefully at Fallout. “You’re like, a constant downer, aren’t you?” The female shrugged and started to follow the twins up to the main bridge when an explosion rocked the ship. Jetfire and Jetstorm rushed back down the hall. “We are under attack!”

--|--

Sideswipe secured one of the wrecked panels and tossed an out-of-commission piece to his twin, Sunstreaker, without even looking. Sunstreaker caught it deftly. Ratchet shook his head.

“Hmm.” He continued to watch the two for a moment before turning away to aide a few of the injured. “I suppose that’s the good thing about having the only two sets of Autobot twins on the same ship; they work well together.” The tall, lanky twins rolled their optics.

Bumblebee and Prowl reported to Sentinel Prime, the commander, on the shape of the rest of the ship. “Most of the rear has been exposed.” Prowl stated. “We’ve sealed off that portion of the ship; no one was inside, sir.”

“We didn’t take much other damage in that blast,” Bumblebee continued. “But the Engineering block has been cut off, sir.”

“Can we make contact with the occupants?” Sentinel asked in a deep, commanding voice. He was standing on the raised deck in the middle of the bridge, his hands planted firmly on the main controls. On slightly lower parts of the platform sat a large blue and red Autobot known as Optimus; the navigator. On the right was a older, red ‘bot with a helmet reminisce to a Roman’s, as a human would think. He was the weapons specialist, Ironhide.

Prowl shook his head. “No, the suns’ flares are interfering with all communications. We were, however, able to learn the fate of the blocks’ occupants, and I can assure you that no one was hurt, sir.” Sentinel sighed. The ‘internal affairs’, per se, were taken care of. Everyone was safe- for now. He turned back to who had shot at them. Decepticons, obviously.
“Jazz, report.”

“The Nemesis shot at us from behind.” The mech replied. “Didn’t see them coming ‘cuz their shields are still working and the flares from that sun took out our radar, sir.”

~*~*~

“Soundwave, status report.” Said the foreboding figure lounging in a chair amidst the other busy, albeit slowly moving, Decepticons working through the dark bridge. The wide bridge window was facing away from the dying sun, and the Ark was fixed firmly in its targets.

“The Ark sustained heavy damage to the aft.” Soundwave spoke in a monotone, computerized voice, but it wasn’t even slightly muffled by the slightly angled white mask he wore over his mouth. “Readings indicate no life has yet been lost, Lord Megatron.”

Megatron snorted. “We’ll soon change that. Blitzwing, Astrotrain, fire at will.” The two Triple Changers exchanged a sick, happy glance and moved to man the cannons again.

“Incoming, Autobots.” Blitzwing snickered and fired.

~*~*~

“Incoming!” Ironhide shouted as a huge purple plasma burst hurtled towards them from the Nemesis. Everyone held on to something as the much smaller ship jerked violently forward. Half of them tumbled anyways, and in the Engineering block, Perceptor was out when he slammed into one of Wheeljack’s projects.

Blaster, only a little taller than Perceptor, had been forced into a wall and was walking about crookedly, shaking his head. Ratchet came over to him and started messing around with some of his parts.

“Ironhide,” Sentinel stood up again and gestured at the red warrior. “Take Sideswipe and Sunstreaker and give those Decepticons everything we have.” Ironhide saluted and raced off with the twins. “Ratchet.” The red and white medic stood to attention. “When you finish with Blaster, have him go with Bumblebee to try and free those in the Engineering block.” He nodded, and Blaster gave a dazed sort of salute. There was a collective groan as the ship rocked again. “Damage?”

“More of the rear has been destroyed.” Prowl replied. “Nothing too serious yet, sir.”

“It’s only a matter of time…” Sentinel muttered to himself. He turned to look out the opposite window when a solar flare curled away from the rapidly expanding sun. “Get us out of here.”

“But sir,” Jazz looked up. “The destination points haven’t been set yet. We could end up anywhere.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Sentinel replied. “Anywhere is better than here right now.”

~*~*~

“Prepare to transwarp.” Megatron ordered, and the two Triple Changers reluctantly left their guns to help with the preparations.

“What about the Autobots?” Said his second-in-command, the Air Commander, Starscream. Starscream had an unpleasantly ‘nasal’ voice and a tendency to try and overthrow his leader.

“They’ll be transwarping as well,” Megatron replied. “Move close enough to the Ark to receive stray destination frequencies.” Soundwave and Bombshell nodded and steered the Nemesis towards the Autobot vessel.

Lightning-like energy shot forward in front of the Ark and a huge blue orb with white lights skittering across its’ surface formed in front of both of the ships.

“Sir,” Bombshell looked up from the controls worriedly. “The Ark isn’t transmitting any destination frequencies.”

“So?” Megatron’s red optics narrowed. “Don’t let that stop you; just go into that transwarp field!”

The purple, one eyed Decepticon standing behind Megatron’s chair next to Starscream spoke in an intelligent voice. “Sir, are you sure about this? Not only might we not make it into the field, but we will be at close range to the Autobots, in a perfect position for them to strike.”

Shockwave was right, of course; Megatron hadn’t picked him to be the tactical advisor for nothing. Still, the Decepticon leader smirked. “Full speed ahead.”

~*~*~

“Sir, the Nemesis is pulling alongside.” Sunstreaker said; Ironhide had sent him back to the bridge as a way to converse with their leader. “Do we continue firing?”

Sentinel paused while the rest of the crew looked on anxiously. “No. Cease fire until we’ve cleared the transwarp field.”

Sunstreaker sighed angrily and grumbled a bit, but went back to relay the orders to Ironhide and his brother after a moment. Prowl gave Sentinel an odd look. “Sir, are you sure about this?” The Nemesis was level with them now, and both ships were sliding smoothly into the ball of energy before them.

“…I’m sure.” Everything outside the ship besides the Nemesis appeared electric blue and white. The transwarp tunnel closed. The sun imploded behind the door of space.

--|--

“We just transwarped.” Fallout reported as she came up behind Wheeljack and the Twins with the prone form of Perceptor in her arms. The three were trying to find a way out of the Engineering block without consuming any more energon from the ships’ stores and attracting the Decepticons’ attention. “Without destination coordinates, and what’s worse is the Decepticons managed to follow us. And shot into the bridge.”

“That’s not good.” Wheeljack turned and looked with great concern on his accomplice/co-worker/friend. “Is he going to be okay?”

Fallout rolled her bright blue optics. “He’s gonna be fine, ‘Jackie.” She stopped when her com link crackled on. “I guess communications are back up. Fallout here, what’s our situation?”

“We’re gonna crash into an organic planet; brace for impact.” Jazz’s smooth voice came through the link. Fallout’s eyes widened. “The bridge is looking bad; we have a few dead.”

“What?!” She stopped listening at the first part. If they crashed hard enough, everyone would be dead. Or in stasis lock. There was a distinctive rumble as both ships entered an atmosphere. “Guys, we’re crashing. Get ready.”

The Twins and Wheeljack exchanged uncomfortable glances, but sat against the rubble that blocked them off from the rest of the ship. Holding herself firmly against it, Fallout held the small bot in her arms carefully so that Perceptor was technically braced too.

“If we survive this…”

“We are not ever following Sentinel Prime sir into another final collection mission.” The Twins were still calm enough to laugh a bit at this, but the fact they were finishing each others’ sentences without thinking about it was a sign they were already in their happy place.

There was a cracking noise, the sickening sound of crunching metal, and the last thing anyone on board the Ark or Nemesis felt was a jarring pain.

Chapter 1: End of the Beginning

In a small suburb off the coast, school was out for the day. Several people chatted in front of Tinrai’s Boarding School, but particularly, three middle-grade students at the school stood with their faces up at the sky, raindrops streaming down their faces. Their clothes were drenched, and the girl in the middle of the two boys actually looked sort of miserable.

Adrian really did like the rain, but yesterday it had been 85 degrees, and now she could see lightning flashing in the distance. Could the weather get any more bi-polar? She had been hoping to do something outside today, as she hadn’t been able to for at least three months.

“You look down today,” Shaun asked from beside her. “Get a lot of homework?”

Adrian snorted. “No, but life here is so boring. It makes you want something really big to happen, doesn’t it?”

“Be careful what you wish for.” Shaun closed his eyes and sighed. He pulled some wet blond hair off his face. “Still up for the hike tomorrow?”

Adrian nodded. “But only if it’s not raining.” She stood underneath a tree and wrung out her brown and black hair. The three were silent for a moment.

Luke shifted to sort of huddle underneath the dripping tree. He shook his short black hair to rid some of the water that had collected there. “So how ‘bout that earthquake the other day? It could’ve woken the dead.”

Thunder cracked overhead.

~*~*~

Thundercracker swerved to avoid a fork of lightning, hissing slightly as he did so. After a moment of fear at not knowing when another flash would pop up, the blue F-22 jet sped up to catch up with the rest of the Seeker Trine. He pulled alongside a purple F-22, and they made a V formation behind the red and white jet.

Starscream couldn’t help but snicker. “Afraid of a little light?”

Thundercracker cast a withering look at his commander. “Have you felt one close by? They feel like they have enough heat to blast one of my wings off, and don’t get me started on what they’d do to your flimsy ones.”

The Air Commander snarled and had half a mind to turn around and beat the slag out of his fellow Seeker, but there was a job to be done, and Starscream didn’t feel like getting another punch to the face from Megatron today. Find the Ark, kill the survivors. Yeah, yeah, but what if there were more than that glitch-head thought there were? Even the Trine couldn’t take on the whole crew.

“So, are we there yet?” Skywarp asked, bored.

“No, Skywarp,” Starscream hissed. “But if you want to go and teleport your way over there by yourself, be my guest.” Skywarp did just that, and disappeared in a swirl of purple light.

Thundercracker started counting. “3, 2...” And he was back.

“I changed my mind.” He reported, sniffing indignantly.

~*~*~

Sideswipe kicked at the jammed door one more time before his twin, Sunstreaker, pushed him aside and tried at it himself. They didn’t much look like twins, and one such as you, the reader, would wonder how to giant robots could be twins, but they were. Sunstreaker was a bright yellow, and he had two crescent-shaped panels where one (an organic) would expect ears to be. Sideswipe was a cherry red color and really didn’t look like his twin, besides their body designs. Soon they both fell back grumbling.

“So,” Sideswipe raised a brow ridge. “We crash into a strange organic planet, kill most of the internal controls, not to mention destroy most of our emergency power, and OUR door is the one that stops working.”

“Life’s cruel,” Ironhide snapped, “But you’ll have ta live with it.”

“Oh, don’t go philosophical on us.” Sunstreaker snapped, and Ironhide narrowed his eyes back.

“C’mon, Sunny.” Sideswipe pulled at his brother’s arm. “We have more important things to deal with right now.”

“I’ll say.” Prowl rounded the corner and stopped in front of them. “We need to find a way out of this solar system before the locals find us here. I did some scans, and I’ve confirmed that this entire planet is populated by intelligent organic life.”

“You figured how long we’ve been out?” Ironhide asked, and Prowl nodded.

“I’d say around four million stellar cycles.”

The three others whistled. “Well, I suppose we DID crash into the planet pretty hard.” Sideswipe said. “Being in stasis lock for four million stellar cycles does wonders for your joints, doesn’t it?”

“Sideswipe, Sunstreaker,” Prowl was giving orders again, like usual. “I want you to go down and help Jazz, Bumblebee and Blaster dig out the Engineering block.” The twins sighed and reluctantly complied with their superiors’ orders, giving one last forlorn look at their quarters before leaving Ironhide and Prowl alone in the hall.

“Who’d we lose?” Ironhide asked in a low voice.

“Overdrive, and a couple others…” Prowl looked down at his feet. “And Sentinel Prime.”

Ironhide dropped his gaze and rubbed the back of his head. After a minute or two, he looked back at Prowl. “So… who’s ta new leader?”

Prowl looked back up at him, conveying all of his earlier surprise at their dying leaders’ choice for the new commander. “Optimus.”

--|--

Optimus looked uncomfortably down the wrecked bridge. Why exactly did he get to lead the Autobots? He was a navigator. Why not Prowl? Or Jazz? Or even Ironhide- they were all better leaders than him. But no, Sentinel had to choose him. Ratchet raised a brow ridge at the musing leader.

“Kid, get over it. Prime chose you, so you’ll have to live with his decision.” Optimus glanced over at the medic. Usually irritable, he took his surprisingly calm words as some sort of consolation and stood a little straighter.

“Prowl,” He said as he and Ironhide entered the room. “I want you to scan the rest of the surrounding area and see if you can locate the Nemesis.” Prowl nodded and left. “Ratchet, once the others are dug out, they’ll need medical attention, so I need you to get down there now.” The medic left too. So Ironhide was left.

Optimus remembered when he had first join the crew of the Ark he had been clumsy because of his size and useless in battle, despite his brute force. Ironhide had decided to train him so he was less of a liability to the team and stood a chance against the Decepticons. Ironhide was gruff and grumpy, much like his friend Ratchet, but he had been kind and considerate to Optimus.

The older red mech smiled up at him now. “I knew ya had it in ya, kid.”

--|--

Jetfire’s yellow eyes blinked on slowly. He turned his head to find his brother, and Jetstorm was laying next to him on a table, Ratchet hovering over him. Right. We crashed into planet. Am I okay? Is brother okay?

Jetfire checked all his systems and found that whatever had been damaged had already been fixed by Ratchet. He was almost unbearably sore, but nothing that wouldn’t wear off in time. He couldn’t see anything wrong with his twin, which put his quickly beating spark somewhat at rest.

Fallout came up to the side of Jetfire’s table. “Why are you up and walking already?” The orange mech asked drowsily.

“Well, when we crashed, I hit Wheeljack pretty hard.” Fallout snickered. “He’s so soft that he cushioned my fall.”

“And I’m lucky Fallout and Perceptor are smaller than me.” Wheeljack groaned, and Perceptor laughed from beside his table. Part of ‘Jack’s chest plate had caved in, proving Fallout’s story. Jetfire sat up slowly.

“So where are we being?” He asked, flinching as his vocal processors grinded painfully. When they’d hit the planet, he obviously hadn’t been secured well enough. Jetstorm hadn’t been either, seeing as he was still unconscious.

“Some organic planet.” Fallout answered. “Prowl says there’s lots of sentient species on this mushy wet rock.”

That explained Wheeljack and Perceptor’s excited chatter, which they had just resumed. Jetfire was about to get up and go over to where Jetstorm was lying, when his equilibrium got messed up and Fallout made him sit down again. Ratchet gave him an angry glance but was busy and couldn’t spare the time to throw a wrench at him.

“Your sensors are having slow reaction times.” He scolded while he continued to work on Jetstorm. “Your voice box is pretty damaged too. And your balancing mechanisms aren’t firing properly. If I have anything to say about it, and I do, you won’t be leaving that berth for at least two solar cycles.”

Jetfire felt too tired to argue. He laid back down onto the berth and looked up at Fallout. “Will you wake me if Jetstorm does?”

She smiled and nodded. “Night-night, flame head.” His optics clicked off.

~*~*~

“There were too many!” Starscream yelled back at his leader. Then he was driven down to his knees as Megatron planted his powerful fist on the top of his head. “Practically the whole crew survived!”

Megatron shifted his optics, like he was disgusted to look at his second-in-command. “Well our entire crew survived. We’ll launch an attack tomorrow. Everyone should be out of stasis by then.”

“That’s not true, my liege.” Shockwave reported. “We have five dead.”

“Ah yes. They were inconsequential deaths, however.” He moved away, leaving Starscream to angrily pick himself up.

Megatron stood in front of Soundwave. “Send Ravage out to keep an eye on the Autobots. I want everything he sees back to me, by way of you.”

Soundwave nodded. “Ravage, eject.” He commanded, and a cassette popped out of his chest, transforming into the robotic panther. “Operation: Track all Autobot actions. Report everything.” The black spy dipped his head and ran off towards where Starscream and the Seekers had been.

Astrotrain lifted his hand up, rain pooling in his palm. He looked at it for a moment, then faced skywards, blinking water away from his optics. He frowned. “What’s wrong with this planet?”

Thundercracker flinched away as more lightning forked across the cloudy sky while Skywarp watched indifferently beside him. Blitzwing raised a brow ridge. “This isn’t right.” He mumbled. “I feel like something’s going to happen.”

“You’re not one to have premonitions.” Bombshell smirked. “But still; I feel it too. Like we haven’t won yet. Like this is just the beginning.”

The six looked at each other, and Starscream laughed. “Those pathetic Autobots will still lose in the end.”

Chapter 2: Communications Expert

“Ah,” Adrian lifted her face and let the warm light wash over her pale skin. “The sun. So nice.”

“Not a day too soon, either.” Luke glanced at her. “You look like a ghost. What a six month winter does to you!”

Adrian dropped her chin and glared at him. “Alright, Mr. I-Never-Leave-My-Room. Let’s see what you looked like after the gaming, um, incident.” The two got into a glaring match before Shaun, always infuriatingly calm, stepped in between them.

“Now, now, guys.” He smiled. “We’re here on a nature walk! Let’s have fun! FREE YOUR SPIRIT!!”

The other two stared at him for a moment, jaws slightly agape, before he started laughing. “I was kidding, people. Stop taking everything I say literally.”

They shook their heads and trudged up the muddy hill after him. “I don’t get your weird obsession with dragging us into your crazy hikes. I don’t see what you get out of it besides sweat and sore feet.” Luke complained. “Because seriously, I may look healthy, but-”

“Shh.” Shaun held up his hand suddenly. “There’s something over there.” He whispered.

Adrian and Luke exchanged a glance before they moved to stand beside him, taking partial cover behind some bushes. They were thinking some wild animal or even another person. Adrian’s heart started racing when she thought ‘crazy wolf-man serial killer’ but it was quickly cast down. Whatever was walking behind the trees was heavier than that. A branch snapped and fell down from where it was at least three quarters of the way up the tree. Bigger, too.

The three cautiously moved forward. None of them remembered what had possessed them to look at what was wandering the forest, but none of them could bring themselves to regret the decision either.

--|--

Blaster felt like someone was watching him. He looked up at Bumblebee, who was checking out the weird, tall organic plants that seemed to be everywhere. “You see anything?” He asked.

Bumblebee looked around the clearing. “No, I don’t- AGH!” He backed up rapidly, knocking the tree over.

“What?!” Blaster frantically looked around in the bushes for what was freaking Bumblebee out. Then he saw them- they were tiny and sort of pink. They looked squishy, too, like much of the planet they apparently inhabited. Their faces sort of resembled a Cybertronian’s, but the only apparent armor they had were colored scraps of some plant material they draped over their bodies. They also had some sort of fur on their heads.

Everyone screamed and backed up more. The tiny little fleshlings took cover behind a tree while Blaster ducked behind Bumblebee. There was a moment of total silence. Then Blaster and Bumblebee heard a fleshling mutter something to its’ companions. Neither bot could understand what it said.

“They’re scared of us.” Adrian whispered, peeking around the trunk.

“Really now?!” Luke was panting heavily while Shaun just stared wide-eyed at the giant robots. “They can crush us with a finger! Why would they be scared of us?!”

Adrian scooted out from behind the tree, and ignored Luke’s plea for her to come back. She waved slightly at the big yellow one. After a moment of shock- its’ face was surprisingly animate- it waved back. She smiled widely, and it smiled back.

“Oh, what do you think it is?” Bumblebee turned to Blaster.

Blaster shrugged. “I dunno. Probably one of those sentient organics Prowl was talking about.” He looked curiously at it.

Adrian looked equally curiously at Blaster. He was at least two heads shorter than the yellow one, but still at least twelve or so feet tall. She took a step. Both mechs cringed in surprise, but Blaster recovered first and moved towards her. He kneeled right in front of her.

“Woah.” Shaun breathed behind her. He was way bigger up close. “This is so cool!”

“I wish we could understand what they said.” Bumblebee said wistfully.

“Did you here them talk?” Adrian said to Shaun, who had come up beside her. “It’s all a clicky and robotic. Too bad we don’t know what they said.”

Blaster frowned. “Those radio waves I picked up earlier had their language in it. We might learn from that.” He found the stream of language racing through the air again. His processor began to analyze and translate it while the little organics kept talking beneath him. There were three of them before him now.

“…big robot…”

“…weird…”

“…come from?”

“…English?”

The black haired one snorted. “What makes you think he’d understand English?”

Blaster smirked and looked down at them. “Because I’m a communications expert.” The humans’ eyes widened and they gasped.

~*~*~

Soundwave clicked his radio receiver off. He had to give the tiny organics credit; their society was rather complex. However, it was built on a base of inconsequential and petty things. Much like Cybertron before the war. Soundwave wondered if they’d learn the hard way. If everything went according to Megatron’s plan, they would.

Rumble said something, and Soundwave came down from his thoughts. “So, what’s it like out there?” He asked impatiently.

“Humans are an inferior race.” Soundwave told him. “Their society is intelligent but incapable of seeing past their own selfish needs. They however are knowledge seekers.”

“They look so soft and squishy!” Frenzy snickered. “And they’re tiny. They’re only about as big as the two of us.”

Rumble laughed. “It’ll be fun to kill ‘em all when Megatron gives the orders!”

Soundwave ignored his cassettes for the time being. He thought about the humans. Perhaps they had something more to give the Decepticons, more than an object for target practice. They couldn’t last forever- already their energon reserves were low. Perhaps there was some sort of alternate fuel source on the planet?

Probably. And once they had sucked the planet dry of energy, then they would leave the world to crumble… with the Autobots on it. So many dying here would most likely leave less opposition on Cybertron. Though it depended on what had happened while they were gone.

If the Decepticon reigned supreme, it wouldn’t matter what happened here. If the Autobots had won, the amount of energy would surely turn the tide if they had not already found another fuel source. If the war was still raging, then exactly what Soundwave had speculated would happen. He allowed himself a small smile under the mask. In any case, the Autobots would lose.

((So basically humans meet Autobots and Soundwave thinking of different ways to destroy Earth. Definitely not my most well-written chapter. Dx))

Chapter 3: Unsafe

“Please?” Blaster looked pleadingly at Prowl, who glared down at him. Adrian sat on his shoulder, eyes huge. Luke and Shaun sat uncomfortably on Bumblebee’s while Jazz and Ironhide poked at them. Bumblebee eventually cupped the boys in his hands, clicking something to the two larger mechs.

The Datsun sighed and shook his head. “We don’t know how dangerous these things are.”

Adrian huffed indignantly and stood up on Blaster’s shoulder, using his head for support. “Kay, first of all, I’m like… eighteen times smaller than you. I’m a bag of bones and flesh and intestines that you can kill with a twitch.” Prowl looked at her, surprised. “I don’t spit acid or have any weird built-in super powers and I most certainly am not going to go killing robots in their sleep or whatever you do.”

Blaster was trying not to laugh, Bumblebee was restraining himself to a chuckle, while Jazz and Ironhide were laughing. “You just got told.” Jazz managed. Prowl sighed through his intakes and looked away.

“Fine, but ask Optimus about this.”

“…He’s huge.” Adrian stared at the giant red and blue robot before her. He was big, even compared to his comrades. He examined the tiny human sitting on Blaster’s shoulder.

“--Put that back where you found it!--” Sideswipe edged away. “--You don’t know where it’s been!--”

Sunstreaker snickered. “--You’re just like Prowl. Afraid of a tiny organic. Wuss.--” Sideswipe was about to punch his brother when Prowl stepped purposefully between them. At that moment, Fallout and Perceptor walked into the bridge.

Fallout stretched. “--Ratchet kicked us out of the med bay.--” She said tiredly.

“--I’m not surprised.--” Blaster commented. Fallout looked curiously at the small creature on his shoulder.

“--Hmm. What is this?--” She mumbled. “--Like, a pet?--”

“Is that a girl robot?” Shaun whispered to Luke from where he sat on Bumblebee’s shoulder. “That’s awesome.”

Luke rolled his eyes. “That doesn’t make any sense.”

Fallout downloaded the language the organics used. She smirked. “Why thank you, I am pretty awesome, aren’t I?”

Perceptor was staring wide-eyed at them. “Fascinating.” Shaun and Luke twitched under his gaze, wondering if robots had to blink.

Optimus, meanwhile, was talking with Jazz and Prowl. “--What do you think? They seem harmless.--”

Jazz smiled. “--They’re cool! And plus, we should keep them here to ask about the planet and stuff.--” He cast a sideways glance at Prowl, who was grudgingly accepting the logic of his idea.

“Alright,” Optimus nodded and turned back to the others. “They can stay. But at the first sign they’re dangerous, you get rid of them.”

“Psh.” Adrian rolled her eyes. “I’m guessing the only humans that can hurt you guys are the military.”

“Sir, we’re picking up increased activity in the Potex Hills.” The uniformed man saluted to his superior. “The readings indicate that it’s definitely alien.”

Dr. Kliven Zegg tore his gaze from the iced being before him. The room around him was dark and made of stone, with white-coated gentlemen scurrying back and forth, clipboards and equipment clutched in their skinny, frail hands. At each door was a guard of three armed men, dressed in black camouflage. While not practical, their uniforms looked pretty cool, which seemed the only reason they had them. It’s not like they really needed practical uniforms to guard the inside of a top-secret building, where the only living beings were sweaty scientists that looked like they never left the lab. They probably didn’t. On the left side of each person’s chest, a red star with a 51 in the center was emblazoned- the insignia of Area 51.

“Really?” Zegg stroked his short brown beard thoughtfully. “How increased? Multiple specimens, perhaps?”

“No sir, I think it’s a live specimen.” The man reported. “Possibly two.”

Zegg started, dismissing the man swiftly. After he left, the Doctor gave a quiet chuckle. Finally, after fifteen years of trying to learn something from the frozen- and possibly dead- alien, more had come. To find their lost comrade? Hopefully- it would lead them right into his trap. The years of being locked in ice had probably destroyed its circuits anyway.

Zegg picked up the phone on the wall. “Richter, if you would please organize a squad to investigate the situation in the Potex Hills. You are authorized to use force and the liquid nitrogen guns.”

There was static, and then a female voice came through the phone. “Yes, Dr. We will leave at approximately fifteen-hundred hours.”

Zegg grinned, baring his yellowed teeth. “Excellent.” He looked back up at the giant robotic being before him. He remembered the day they had caught it.

They had been observing it for some time, and had set up a room in the secret facility to receive it. It was hard to keep track of- it was extremely fast and they only managed to find it by tracking its energy trail with a newly invented device called an EN-1. It traced unearthly signals by isolating it from the recognizable energy signals.

It had seemed to be looking furiously for something. It wasn’t fast enough when the time came to run away. So they froze over its body and shipped it off to Area 51. It was known as Occupant Seven, under the section Threat.

Out of all eight Occupants, it was by far the most interesting and likely to be alien. The other seven were probably fossils and odd rocks. It was huge, too- about the size of a two story building. It was blue and white, with a spike on the top of its head, apparently to make it more aerodynamic. It had large, pupil-less blue eyes.

It was classified under ‘Threat’ because they had managed to reverse engineer some deadly weaponry from it. And they couldn’t penetrate its armor except for with extreme-heated metal. Zegg figured too many of these things running around would spell trouble for humanity.

Zegg patted the robots’ foot. “Your friends are coming for you. Too bad we’ll just freeze them too.” He turned away, and behind him, the robots eyes narrowed nearly imperceptibly.

Richter motioned the soldiers behind her forward. The force moved stealthily through the forested area of Potex Hills. The EN-2 bleeped once, and Richter silenced it. Now was not the time to be alerting their prey. They were dangerously close.

The maroon and sky-blue robots’ bright eyes flicked up from where it was examining a small pond filled with some panicking fish. It glanced around cautiously and stood up, raising an arm that transformed into a gun defensively. The squad froze.

Luckily for them, the robot could not see them hidden in the vegetation, with their specially adapted camouflage clothing. It scanned a few times before turning away. Richter nodded.

The troops launched from all sides of the clearing. The robot reeled in surprise, but quickly recovered and took aim. There was a tense moment when she- for the way the body was constructed was obviously intended to be female- did nothing. Then she scowled and lowered her weapon.

Two helicopters hummed loudly above the clearing now. Two men armed the turrets and shot down at the robot. Thick cables wrapped around the robots’ limbs with a cracking sound. The alien groaned and dropped to her knees, surprised at the force of the much smaller people. The soldiers from the trees stepped forward and began to coat her body with liquid nitrogen.

Jazz and Prowl watched in horror from their hiding places. Optimus had directly ordered them not to engage the humans or reveal their presence. They couldn’t help her.

“Eh…” Fallout’s weakening voice came over the com. “You two better get outta here. I don’t think that little tracker thing we detected earlier that the lady has works when you’re in the Ark, because…” Her voice faded, and her optics clicked off.

“Were there others?” Zegg asked when Richter arrived, watching the soldiers spray Occupant Nine with more liquid nitrogen, a number of scientists trying to make it past the guards to take a look at the new specimen.

Richter nodded. “But by the time we got this one down, they were long gone. They apparently have a hideout where the ENs can’t find them.”

Zegg nodded. “Is the cell ready?”

“I believe so.” She replied. “Though, obviously, we aren’t fully aware of what O-9 or O-7 is capable of, and therefore cannot test it accurately.”

“It doesn’t matter. I want her body defrosted and in that room immediately. I have some questions for her.”

Richter looked at the scientist with shock and disbelief. “I realize that’s what we made the cell for, but it isn’t safe, especially if she feels threatened.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Zegg was giddy with excitement- it nearly overran his ability to think logically. This was an amazing scientific possibility, and he wasn’t about to wait for safety. If no scientist ever took risks, they’d never learn anything.

Just read the prologue. I really like it. Something I noticed was how you described the physical appearances of the bots. You go from beautiful romantic language, straight into abrupt and clear language to describe them. Was that on purpose? It kinda felt out of place.

But hey, Ilikedititwasgood! Yay! I need to find the time to read the rest of this.
