I seem to recall they did provide proof they were SAG-AFTRA affiliated. Also, if Sega wasn't ok with it, it'd have been shut down by now because unlike Omens they aren't based in countries where they can get away with it, and a lot of the perks the project has gotten in recent years, like IGN coverage, probably wouldn't have happened either.
It's possible SEGA/Sonic Team aren't fully aware of the scope of it. And there have been no statements from the company about allowing paid projects like this in any capacity, only stated repeatedly that paid ones aren't allowed because they already let us make fan games and animations and whatnot generally unopposed. I have never seen the supposed proof and I and a lot of other people were following this really closely when that stuff came to light.
Turning things back to topic, Prime Animations do these 'mid-month hangout' streams that cater to the project's younger fanbase, they take a look at the kind of memes a parent would only find funny as well as fan art that it isn't always limited to Transformers. These streams ae harmless but I do find them a bit weird. Whatever keeps the content coming I guess. At least they're kept short, about an hour in length or so.
