I've wanted to try my hand at modelling a Transformer that can actually... transform for a while but my time has been tied up doing stuff for Palisdes. Now that's through, this is what I've been working on since.
I started out by finding a pretty low res Audi TT mesh and proceeded to chop it up into the parts I needed for the transformation. At first I thought I could shortcut it and increase the polycount using meshsmooth modifiers, but it just wasn't working so I salvaged what parts of the original mesh i could by deleting problem areas and re-modelling while adding polys, and some parts I modelled from scratch using the originals as a refrence. Here's a pic of theoriginal mesh:
And the current state of the car mode:
There's still a lot of work to do on the lower/rear half (I've just started to rough out the thighs) and I haven't settled on whether the legs a gonna follow the Meister or the Subaru bros. transformation but I think I'd prefer the rear windows on the shin look, plus I think the Meister method would look rather odd during animation with the legs flying and twisting around all over the place.
Robot mode:
I have a repaint remold in mind already, can anyone name what character the Binaltech-ised headsculpt is supposed to be? (also shown without mouthplate just for fun ) |

Without the faceplate.... I'm getting a cross between Blurr and Moonracer for some reason.
One day, I shall come back - Yes, I shall come back.
Until then there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties.
Just go forward in all your beliefs, and proove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.

The sloped forehead is very starsaber, too. This is a hard one to guess. |

Keep it up.
