I've started work on a line of non-transforming Action Master-esq minifigures. This line of action figures is based on a highly articulated minifigure endoskeleton to which armor parts snap on in order to complete the character.

This is the Proto Action Former. This highly articulated minifigure stands at just a hair under 2" tall. The parts can be reconfigured into a multitude of different ways to form many different creations and body types. Different themed armor sets will snap onto this Proto Former to create different characters.

This is a generic set of armor for me to use as a starting point when creating character sets. Being a generic I've decided to name him "Nail" ;)
The armor snaps onto the Protoform endoskeleton.

The Protoform as well as the armor parts will be available through my Shapeways site once I've done sufficient testing and quality checks.

After I've built up a library of armor components and parts it will be possible to mix/match parts to create OC characters. I also plan on doing varied protoforms for different body types such as the "hero", "thug" and "fem", but all parts will be interchangeable to allow for full customization.

It's been suggested that I make a transforming version of these guys and it may be possible with some partsforming, but I'm not even thinking about that yet ^__^

This is very cool work! At 2" they might not be tooooo expensive via Shapeways. Very very interesting.

The endoskeleton will be about $6, The armor sets (at least this one) will run about $7 and then $3 for the light piping parts.

I'm specifically designing these to be printed in Alumanide Polished for the endoskeleton, Polymide Polished (WSFP) for the armor and Translucent Resin for the light piped parts. Due the the level of complexity here and the chances for things to go wrong being high, I won't be making these sets available for testing until I've tested them first.

OOOO, very interesting. I've sort of sworn off Shapeways, but this is intriguing enough that I might well make an exeption, especially if you have them priced so reasonably.

I'll be watching this thread :)

    Awesome :D

hopefully I should be able to get some samples ordered next week. I hate letting test prints pile up but there's not much choice I'm afraid :/

    thanks guys. :)

at 2" tall, they're bigger than the standard head/power master, right? What would you have them attach to?

maybe people would just want a Ginrai to stand next to Xovergin that isn't huge like the Guto Kuru one, I would probably put one next to whatever Prime I have. Scale be damned

as far as what bodies. The MARS Converters, they are just above voyager size and turn into real cars

Well right now i have plans for Siren and Nightbeat that need some heads, but 2" may be a bit too big, like you said they are bigger than your average Headmaster. My base figures are voyager sized and they will be able to sit in the driver seats. My first thought about how to attach them would be a ball joint. If you make the heads with sockets the ball joints would join the two together.

OOOoooohh okay! I thought you meant ones that would actually transform into a head and connect to a body for a head master custom! Yeah.. what you suggest makes much more sense.. I can't be sure without having them in hand yet, but I think they should fit the Halo Megabloks vehicles.. so mayhaps with the Kre-o ones too...

I will state that I have no intention of making these "building block compatible", so there's that. lol

Once I get some test prints done I'll take some pics with different scale figures so you can see how they line up.
