Just a little idea I had when I saw the news about 2013's 'Shattered Glass Beast Wars' about how I would bring Beast Wars/Machines into the world of Shattered Glass.

Update- 13/01/13- Explanation: Unlike the Beast Wars we all know and love, the struggle between the Maximals and Predacons takes place not on prehistoric Earth, but rather a post apocalyptic Earth.

Whereas the beast mode idea would've come from scavenged prehistoric technology belonging to the Classicverse Maximals and Predacons, ala the TFCC's Shattered Glass Beast Wars explanation. And what better way of fuelling Primal's ego than by naming his faction after supposed heroes.

But taking a cue from Beast Machines and Beast Wars II, in this version, the Maximals are primarily vehicles [namely military or aircraft] whereas the Predacons are mostly animals [such as Dinosaurs or insects].

History: After the Great War [the events of Shattered Glass] the surviving remnants of the Cybertronian race settled amidst the ruins of Earth after the human race was driven to extinction during the Final Years. Upon news of hearing Cybertron's demise, the settlers strove to rebuild their civilisation in the absence of their leaders, the tyrannical Optimus Prime and the heroic Megatron [the latter of whom left his final words in an artefact known as the Golden Disk, which points out the location of a secret weapon to end the War], renaming their new home New Cybertron.

But tragically, this time of peace was short-lived, as a disaster of a much different kind plunged this new order into chaos; a Vok satellite crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, unleashing a hidden deposit of raw energon into the atmosphere. Without protection, the settlers were forced to adopt organic beast modes or perish in this savage new world.

Over the course of a thousand years, society on New Cybertron devolved into a multitude of warring nomadic Tribes, each one adopting a different motif inspired by a specific animal as they fought over territory uncontaminated by the radiation.

It was only in the year 1114 AED [After Earth's Destruction] that some semblance of order rose from the ashes; the Maximal Empire, a technocratic monarchy led by the ambitious Optimus Primal, Lord-Protector of New Cybertron. But his tyranny did not go unnoticed, as the scattered remnants of the other Tribes began to form a resistance movement-The Predacons-to topple Primal's oppressive regime by embracing the balance between their beast and robot forms, as opposed to eschewing it.

    Optimus Primal:

Motto: “Purity comes from above, for I am the Angel of Death.”
Rank: Lord-High Protector of New Cybertron [Earth].

    Strength: 10
    Intelligence: 10
    Speed: 9.5
    Endurance: 9.5
    Courage: 10
    Agility: 6
    Firepower: 8
    Rank: 9
    Skill: 9.9

    Alt mode: Cargo Plane.
    Faction: Maximal.

Bio: After the Great War ended on Earth, the remnants of the Decepticons and Autobots settled down on the desolated planet, picking after the remains of the original human inhabitants to build a new Cybertron. When a Vok meteorite clashed with the ruined Earth, it unearthed hidden stores of energon beneath the Earth's Core, forcing the majority of Cybertronians to adopt beast modes to survive the energon levels.

One thousand years later, a group of tribal Cybertronians worshipping the Great Bat stumbled upon a cavernous store of information below the ruins of Olde Nu-Yok. One of the tribesmen attempted to overthrow the tribe's leader, only to end up being tossed into the abyss. Upon awakening, the traitor found himself gazing face-to-face with the remains of the Autobot computer, Teletraan I. Sensing an opportunity to retake this savage planet, Teletraan reformatted the tribesman into the new leader of the Maximals; Optimus Primal. His mission; to cleanse New Cybertron and claim it's unstable energon resources for the Maximal Empire.

Abilities: In addition to being armed with twin quasar missiles located in his chest, Primal is also capable of deploying anti-air cannons from his plane mode's tail, as well as effectively use his twin hand cannons to take out enemies with a one-two burst of laser fire. Uses a battle mask to intimidate enemy soldiers, Primal is capable of uttering a guttural sound called the 'Angel's Cry'-a sonic attack that can crush 10-inch thick steel.

Weaknesses: Subject often suffers short periods of psychosis, lashing out at anything around him.

UPDATE: And now, for the second Maximal in this thread; the Destroyer of Great Columbia himself, Rhinox.

    Rhinox:

Motto: “Through superior firepower, victory shall be ours.”
    Rank: Second in Command.

    Strength: 10
    Intelligence: 9.4
    Speed: 5
    Endurance: 10
    Courage: 8
    Agility: 7
    Firepower: 10
    Rank: 8
    Skill: 8.9

    Alt mode: Missile Tank.
    Faction: Maximal.

Bio: A remnant from the Great War, Rhinox was a notorious Decepticon general known only as Scrapheap who destroyed hundreds of cities in the eight month-long Siege of Carbombia. After hundreds of human casualties caused by Rhinox’s reckless campaign, the Decepticon high command excommunicated him from their ranks, seeing him as a dangerous thug. When the Autobots recruited him, he was only too glad to wreak havoc for his new leaders until he was finally captured at the end of the Great War.

After spending a thousand years locked in a CR Chamber, Optimus discovered his chamber and freed him to serve in the Maximal Empire. Problem was that Rhinox was not the type to obey orders, only agreeing to Primal’s demands when the fanatical tyrant strong-armed him into pledging loyalty. Rhinox is a devious, cunning strategist of the Maximal Empire, his only loyalty being towards himself. He only works for the Maximals because of their common goal of a Cybertronian race free from organic influence. But whereas Optimus prefers fast, immediate action, Rhinox is the methodical kind of evil; the type that would endure a seven-month siege before dishing out fiery vengeance, regardless of the losses.

Abilities: Despite taking pride in his signature arm-mounted missile batteries [each one hosting a variety of missiles from standard to cosmic rust, to flash bang], his primary weapon of choice is his shotgun- a 14-gauge heavy-bore pump-action piece capable of blasting a hole in twelve-inch steel. In Tank Mode, can traverse any terrain as well as use his missile batteries and battering ram for bulldozing through fortress defenses.

Weaknesses: Subject’s missile batteries, as powerful as they are, are capable of jamming when overused, leaving the subject mostly unarmed. His arrogance will be his downfall, especially if Primal doesn’t already kill him.

    Another Update:

Now for the Third Maximal, the Silent Speedster, Cheetor.

    Cheetor:

Motto: “Speed is power, and I’ll run you over.”
    Rank: Chief Enforcer.

    Strength: 8
    Intelligence: 7.5
    Speed: 10
    Endurance: 8
    Courage: 10
    Agility: 9.7
    Firepower: 6
    Rank: 8
    Skill: 8.9

Alt mode: Dune Buggy [current] Cheetah [former].
    Faction: Maximal.

Bio: One of the younger Maximals, Cheetor was originally just another Tribal in the Northern Lands [once known as Canada before the Impact] hunting down gazelle until he was offered a more powerful form by Optimus Primal. Enduring the trauma of reformatting, Cheetor became a silent enforcer of the Maximal Lord-Protector. With his new form, he seeks to impress his Lord and hopefully gain a new, more powerful form.

Abilities: In robot mode, Cheetor is capable of using his backpack as a jump pack, and with it he can leap 8 feet into the air to pounce on unsuspecting prey. Armed with two Quasar Cannons. In Dune Buggy mode, capable of accelerating from 0 to 250 mph in five seconds, priding himself in being the fastest among the Maximals.

Weaknesses: Subject often suffers from feverish dreams, sometimes in the midst of battle. In addition, his silence can impede with communicating with his superiors.

Oh, btw, thanks for the compliments!

    Third Update

    Cybershark:

    Motto: “Feeding Time!”
    Rank: Underwater Assault

Strength: 7 [on land] 10 [underwater]
    Intelligence: 6
Speed: 5 [on land] 10 [underwater]
    Endurance: 9.5
    Courage: 10
Agility: 6 [on land] 10 [underwater]
    Firepower: 8
    Rank: 5
    Skill: 6.9

    Alt mode: Sharkticon Class Warship.
    Faction: Maximal.

Bio: A dour, unimaginative individual when undisturbed, Cybershark at first glance seems uncharismatic and boorish, caring only for his own business. When roused, that is a different story; for Cybershark goes cuckoo for coco-puffs when he smells prey. In either case, Primal keeps him sealed in an underground grate as his pet sharkticon, only opening the grate when he needs to dispose of unruly Maximals or unfortunate prisoners to feed the mentally unstable Maximal. On the rare occasions when he is let out of his grate, Optimus keeps him on a leash, only letting him off to track down prey. When the tyrant needs him to execute a prisoner, it need be only a few minutes involving him and a very large chainsaw.

Abilities: Aside from possessing incredible speed in the water [swimming up to 20 knots a minute] Cybershark is armed to the teeth with a variety of blades and artillery. In shark mode, can access several cannons for destroying enemy oceanic craft and/or aircraft. If these cannons do not destroy the target, than his diamond-sharp teeth can do the trick. In robot mode, can deploy twin acid cannons that shoot acidic missiles containing a highly dangerous toxin that can eat through almost any known substance. Incredibly strong underwater.

Weaknesses: Subject has no known weaknesses, aside from his low intellect.

    And Now...

The First of the Predacons! Colour scheme based on Noble Savage from the Beast Machines toyline. Personality based on Sly Cooper from the Games and Robin Hood from Men In Tights.

    Megaplex:

Motto: “What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is yours.”
    Rank: Thief.

    Strength: 6
    Intelligence: 8
    Speed: 8
    Endurance: 7
    Courage: 10
    Agility: 10
    Firepower: 5
    Rank: 5
    Skill: 9.4

    Alt mode: Wolf.
    Faction: Neutral/Predacon.

Bio: A self-proclaimed master-thief from the Lower States, Megaplex hides his extraordinary skill behind a false veneer of glib remarks and cheeky outlook on life. Having been raised on the streets, Megaplex grew to rely on three things; his speed, his talents and his two lifelong friends [Scorponok and Tarantulas]. He only became involved in the Predacon-Maximal war when he stole a precious artifact from the Hall of the Ancients in the Capital [Egypt]; the Golden Disk, one of the last remnants from long before the Great War. Upon reading the Disk, however, Megaplex soon discovered that the Disk contained the last recorded words of the original Leader of the Decepticons, Megatron, and something else; the location of Project Quickstrike. Now finding himself in too deep and involved with an ancient conspiracy, Megaplex finds himself hounded by the Maximal Army and by a certain Inspector Blackarachnia. And his only hope may lie with the Predacons.

Abilities: In robot mode, subject is armed with two weapons/tools. In his left arm, his canine head doubles as a sophisticated laser torch capable of slicing through 8-inches thick concrete like butter. In his right arm, he wields a standard sword that converts into his trademark ‘Glue Gun’, firing a fast-drying adhesive substance, which he uses for quick getaways.

Weaknesses: His overconfidence in his own abilities may cause him to dangerously underestimate an opponent. In addition, he is colourblind.

    Another Predacon

This time it's Scorponok, the Muscle of the Predacons. Colour scheme based off the prototype from the original BW catalogue.

    Scorponok:

Motto: “Stand back! Pain Train, comin’ through!”
    Rank: Thief.

    Strength: 10
    Intelligence: 8.6
    Speed: 5.7
    Endurance: 9.5
    Courage: 10
    Agility: 6.7
    Firepower: 9.4
    Rank: 5
    Skill: 9.2

    Alt mode: Scorpion/Armoured Gunship.
    Faction: Neutral/Predacon.

Bio: The muscle of the group, Scorponok is far from the stereotypical gentle giant; he has no compulsion for holding back his incredible physical strength nor does he hold the patience for complicated heists within his titanic frame. Despite this, Scorponok is no intellectual slouch, being able to conduct carefully-prepared traps for any nearby guard. His jaded, cynical view of the world clashes with Megaplex’s glass-half full thinking; when he sees a flaw in a plan, he will immediately bring it to attention. Yet despite their struggles, Scorponok regards Megaplex and Tarantulas as siblings to protect with all of his might and will follow a plan through to the finish if it means an easy payday.

Abilities: Thanks to stolen Maximal technology Tarantulas helped to reverse-engineer, Subject is easily capable of switching between three different modes; Robot, Gunship and Scorpion. In Gunship mode, Subject is able to carry 100 megatons of equipment [or three full grown Transformers] and still fly at full speed [Mach 1]. In Scorpion Mode, can deploy two standard grenade launchers from his claws that can blow apart a 10-feet thick Vibranium Safe, in addition to possessing two side-mounted turrets that fire rubber bullets. In robot mode, his claws can rip the door from a tightly-sealed Titanium Vault with barely any effort.

Weaknesses: Subject’s overreliance on physical strength can often blind him to traps that do not require physical power. In addition, his cynical behavior does not earn him many friends.

    A Third Predacon.

The Amazing Tarantulas! Personality [for the most part] based on Ed from Cowboy Bebop.

    Jonathan Tarantulas Edmonton Esquire:

Motto: “That vault door a problem? I can hack it, no slag.”
    Rank: Thief.

    Strength: 5
    Intelligence: 9.6
    Speed: 7.7
    Endurance: 5.5
    Courage: 8.9
    Agility: 9.5
    Firepower: 7.4
    Rank: 5
    Skill: 9.9

    Alt mode: Tarantula/Motorcycle.
    Faction: Neutral/Predacon.

Bio: Where Scorponok serves as the brawn, Tarantulas serves as the brains of the group. At first glance, one wouldn't realise that, given his absent-minded behaviour and sub-bestial tendencies [such as scratching the back of his head with his feet]. But appearances can be deceiving. Tarantulas is often intrigued by the technology of days gone by, to the point where he goes on personal scavenging missions on his lonesome to rebuild old machines, from stereos to old automobiles, even tinkering with his own vehicle mode to improve it’s performance. He is also the team’s youngest member, often looking up to either Megaplex or Scorponok as older brother figures, despite balancing his youthful behavior with a hypersensitive reaction when someone mistakes his alternate form for a spider, and will follow his adopted siblings into the abyss if need be.

Abilities: His primary tool is a plasma cutter formed from the front wheel of his motorcycle mode, which he uses for cutting through plated glass. Each one of his eight beast mode legs is a hacking tool for hotwiring a deactivated vehicle or shutting down a computer security system. In beast mode, can climb on almost any surface, particularly up walls. For a quick escape, subject can shoot a techno-organic web from his abdomen to create ropes or ladders, for him to climb up in beast mode. His third mode, a motorcycle, is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 mph in three seconds, as well as use his spidery legs as a method of ‘launching’ himself from a tight spot.

Weaknesses: Subject is not very strong, and his impetuousness can often jeapordise an otherwise flawlessly calculated plan. In addition, despite his intellect, subject is very impressionable and at times naïve because of his young age. Has a surprisingly short attention span.

    Time for some Maximals.

Presenting a Maximal who wasn't in the Show-Grimlock-and someone who was-Rattrap.

    Grimlock:

Motto: “I, Grimlock, shall crush my enemy underneath my treads, wot?”
    Rank: Enforcer.

    Strength: 9.3
    Intelligence: 7.5
    Speed: 5.4
    Endurance: 9.9
    Courage: 10
    Agility: 6.4
    Firepower: 10
    Rank: 5
    Skill: 7.9

    Alt mode: Armored Personnel Carrier.
    Faction: Maximal/ex-Autobot/Dinobot.

Bio: One of the last remnants of the Autobot Cause, Grimlock long ago traded in his ferocious fangs and claws for a ton of firepower and added mobility during the final days of the Great War. When Teletraan I reactivated him from stasis lock, Grimlock was placed under the leadership of Optimus Primal, a fact that he despises with the utmost intensity. Though he finds occasional solace when he is partnered with Cybershark, Grimlock treating the bestial Maximal as a pet/bodyguard until he comes charging into the fray.

Abilities: In both modes, Subject is heavily armed. Robot Mode introduces not only increased strength and endurance, but also shoulder-mounted anti-air missile systems, knee-mounted heat-seeking missiles and shoulder-mounted flamethrowers that can also be used in vehicle mode, only to reveal glass gas missiles that he stole from the deceased Cliffjumper in his reality. Oh, and he has a heavily modified laser sword that he uses for close quarters combat. Vehicle Mode is heavily armoured, despite losing the majority of his maneuverability, and can also use his weapons from Robot Mode [minus the sword]. In addition, subject's vehicle mode is capable of moving on all terrain where standard vehicles cannot.

Weaknesses: Age has not been kind to Subject's joints, as any moisture that penetrates his armour can easily corrode his internal circuitry. In addition, his arrogance makes him a target for Optimus Primal's fury.

    Rattrap:

    Motto: “Badda-bing, badda BOOM!!
    Rank: Demolitions Expert.

    Strength: 5.2
    Intelligence: 8.8
    Speed: 6.3
    Endurance: 6.9
    Courage: 7.2
    Agility: 5.6
    Firepower: 8.7
    Rank: 6
    Skill: 9.4

    Alt mode: Anti-air Half-Track.
    Faction: Maximal.

Bio: From birth, the Tribal soon to be known as Rattrap suffered from Chronological Stunted Progression Syndrome, a disease that continued warping his body beyond use since birth to the point of rendering him useless in scavenging missions with his tribe or even rendering him unable to perform simple physical tasks. But what he made up for was an innate fascination with explosives and their effects on prey. Once Optimus recognised his potential, he offered the Tribal some respite from his crippling injuries, reformatting him into his current heavily armed form. Out of gratitude, Rattrap now faithfully serves his new master without hesitation.

Abilities: In both modes, Subject is heavily armed. In robot mode, is armed with a back-mounted missile launcher system and a dual-barrelled grenade launcher, the latter that he uses to launch a variety of explosive shells, as well as shoulder-mounted gatling guns that he uses for hunting sport. In vehicle mode, can traverse rough terrain thanks to the treads in the rear of the vehicle.

Weaknesses: Despite having been reformatted, subject still has vestiges of the Disease, meaning that if he over-exerts his limbs, the internal circuitry inside would immediately snap, rendering him immobile. In addition, his addiction to explosives have steadily shorted out the subject's eyes, making him wear protective goggles.
