Beast Wars Fan Art

Hi everyone, wow, thanks for all the great feedback. Yes there are some issues with the rex mode and I am looking into them as I type this. The colour is off, the size of the back stripe is off, some elements of the head are too bony and need fleshing out in addition I have issues with his skin being too smooth for what needs to be more scaly (in my mind). So I will be updating these issues on Meg's Beast mode before proceeding to the bot mode. Hold tight fellas I want to get this one right . Stay tuned for updates!

This is all kinds of awesome! Makes me wish we had a new CGI BW cartoon with higher quality graphics. Like Prime, but you know, furry!

would be great, but unlike most people I feel that Beast Wars has aged wonderfully so I'm not in any hurry. that said I LOVE this thread and all it's work!

What exactly do you mean by that? The story is awesome but I've never been too big a fan of the animation. It does get better as the series progresses but it was never THIS good.

I really wouldn't want a retelling of Beast Wars because I don't think it would ever be any better than the original but I would like to see like literally a special addition DVD set using all new animation with these designs.

I'd kinda want to see an updated version of BW, too, but I have a bad feeling a lot of the more subtle animation quirks would get lost.

So after a few days of playing around with the colour and model I haven't managed to make any large drastic changes. For the most part the Rex mode is done. I am moving on to the bot mode. Thanks to everyone for all their feedback and comments, rest assured any and all comments fuel this project forward. Updated rex mode image is below.

I was looking at the two versions side by side and I actually like the first version you posted a lot better. The larger green stripe on top, the almost white underbelly kinda helped break up the purple and made for a much scarier looking beast. Also it looks like you changed the shape of the pupils in the eyes which again the original version looked more menacing. The way he is now with his eyes and a lot more purple... he looks... well... friendly. Kinda like the dinosaur from "Meet the Robinsons" or the dragon from "Shrek", even though he's still a giant deadly creature with sharp teeth he's more "kid friendly" like you'd want to hug him.

Basically I really think the white underbelly, thicker green stripe, and the original eyes helped to sell him more as an evil Predacon leader Megatron rather than as Barney.

Thanks SaberPrime, I did decide to take a look at the rex mode yet again and I do agree with the points you made. So as a sort of amalgam of both the second and third version here is the final updated imaged
