    MBT's Shapeways TF weapons thread

Here's an updated first page of my stuff.

Another custom "Target Cohort", Hijack. He transforms from bot to shotgun. As always the model will need to be tested before it's made available for sale. He is a two part kit. Hijack the bot is here . You can find his Gun is here.

    Ion Centrifuge Cannon:
The name might be farfetched, but this cannon is too. A massive heavy weapon for your DX and Voyager sized figures. When the reactor shields are opened the centrifuge can spin on a axle.

    Good golly those look great!

How would you be casting these? It seems you could lose a lot of detailing if you're just using a simple 2-part mold.

Not sure yet really, I really would like to sell these but the shapeway prices are a bit too high. If I re-casted them myself I could sell them for far less. The Cannon model will cost $70 for the ultra detail print!

I guess what I meant is, if your designs have radial detailing, you won't be able to get all of it cast with a 2-part mold. You'd have to design your weapons to be simple extrusions.

I think I'm doing a bad job explaining this.

i thinik the last weapon might be an issue for a 2 part mold

but the first two i dont, it all depends on the orentation of the part in the mold

oh and your designs are gorgeous by the way

Ahh. I haven't done much recasting forgive my ignorance.

I see you've done a lot of shapeway accessories, in your opinion whats the best martial to have weapons made out of?

Nothing to forgive! I don't do any casting myself, but I try to keep in mind how it could be done with certain parts.

I imagine ultra detail would be ideal for making molds, but you'd likely still want to hand polish the parts a little; the printing layers are going to be very fine, but still visible.

I think it's worth trying polished strong and flexible too, since it's inexpensive and gives a much more uniform finish than the detail materials. The only downside is that the details aren't so crisp, so it might be better if you're just selling weapons from Shapeways.

saw ur conversations & i think it s brilliant to re-cast them. design gorgeous, i luv the details. but price is more critical.

for $70 (i guess US, rite?) per piece is killing them. besides, dun forget the mailing fee wht Shapeways been added. the sum will just like burning hell.

p.s. wht i thinking that is how abt weapons for new wave TF Prime figures? it could be much more potential.

Your designs are very cool and well, awesome! I'd like to see more.

It seems like the golden fountain that was shapeways is drying up with how expensive the designs are considering our own markup for personal designs.

Wow, thanks for all the support! I just finished a G1-esc gun model for Thundershred. Anyone know the size of his hand peg?

...dammit all... another set of nice weapons I wanna buy off shapeways.

I swear... by the time I get around to ordering off shapeways... my wallet's going to be crying...

These are very nice gun designs. Should definitely add a link to your shapeways page on both your signature and this thread when you see them fit to sell.

My shop isn't super well setup yet, but It should be in working order. I put it under my sig. I put the models up only a few days ago, I haven't gotten my orders yet so I don't know how well they will print.

Mind taking a stab at doing a arm gun for warpath, for a look a lil more Movie/Prime looking. Something that would work with both his hand folded out AND in! Your guns are awesome!
