My goodness. How could I have missed that thread! To think I've been working all these weeks while someone has already done such an incredible job...

It's interesting to see how people have so many approaches to the same subject...I guess the main difference between mine and Sledgehammer's design is that mine has the cannons and body parts envelope each other for a tighter alt-mode, hence Thugger (theoretically) stands about 10mm taller. Sledge's design 'wasted' some valuable volume by having the backpack sit atop him.

I have utmost respect for his modelling abilities. This is not meant to be putting him down in anyway, it's just a discussion on design solutions.

Yes, it's for WFC Soundwave :)  They are designed to also connect to his side in his alt mode.

Regarding all the fine details, let's cross fingers and wait for the prints. I made extra prints in white detail too just in case.

    Looks fantastic - I'm in!
This may not be a popular comment, but I think you're price is a bit low, actually! I mean, with the work you put into it, I'd say 10 bucks a pop is reasonable. But I'm just thinking from a working artist point of view! (OK, a poor working artist point of view...fine...)
As for the thin posts, if people find them too fragile, it isn't that hard to put in metal posts by hand using a pin vice and, well, a pin. A little bit of extra work, sure, but these look so great!

Sledgehammer's also got a Laserbeak/Buzzsaw concept going, last i heard he's in contact with a 3rd party company or something. No idea on where that's going, though.

Looking at the alt mode, one things scares me: The leg joint. The swivel joint in the leg that allows it to bend back over itself for transformation. How big is that pin, and how much clearance is there on that thing? I see it right next to the knee ball joint, and if that's 3mm, then the pin at maximum can only be...1mm? 0.7mm? It honestly looks tiny, and that is the part that worries me. Even if it does survive printing and construction (no doubt SW is going to throw a fit about trouble printing small parts, trust me they did the same to me and Sledgehammer afaik), that would be the part i'd be most careful with.

I do really like how you took the gun handles' slot in the side and worked them into your design. Not sure if i believe it will fit no mods just yet, as i did the same measurements with my designs and the problem arose that the batteries, being both cylindrical, left a gap in the middle, where some parts of Soundwave's chest door fit into place. Hence, i ended up having to cut that part out of Soundwave. I hope your's won't, but my concerns are just like the bar: raised. A lot.

And my design beats both of you in terms of getting height. I ditched teh back connons completely and went with a more blocky G1 feel, so while i did mod my Soundwave, my Fremble twins are also huge compared to you two's. :D

You can always send in a friendly donation....woot! Poor fb here sure can do with some extra moolah!

Metal posts may work, I'm just thinking how do we go about putting them it especially if the parts are so small and might shatter during the operation itself. But we'd wouldn't know until we receive the prints...

Anyway ideally buyers don't have to do anything extra. I hate to do post-processing on things I've spent money on.

Thanks G for the glowing words :)

There is enough clearance between the thighs and lower legs for it to fold in, no worries. The pin (stem?) is about 2mm to 2.5mm dia. thickness and I understand your concerns. I hope SW doesn't give me trouble though; I had nothing but the best service from them so far...

Yes I'm aware of that little extra piece in Soundwave's window that eats into the cassette space and I designed the alt mode around it. The only issue is that we are playing really close in terms of tolerances so it's all up to the test print now.

Oops, sorry, what I thought was a peg was just a really clever molded detail in the design. Never mind. I wish you all the best with the test print, hopefull the design's complexity wont end up hurting it. :)

And any chance of some colour renders? It's very hard to make out any details right now. ;)

Hmm...for plastic materials it's slightly over 10 days for delivery. I haven't really gotten a deformed or damaged figure from Shapeways before but I have heard stories from people like TreadshotA1 and those on the Shapeways forums. I'm not familiar with the policy of defective figures so I recommend you doing a google search for it. Apologies.

    Thanks bud!

These are great designs. Im realy impressed with your work here and i can see alot of potential for customising these guys. Any chance you can increase the size of these guys so that they fit in with classics figures and maybe adding some extra toys for your thuggers to play with. :thumbs2:

Thanks! I'm currently thinking (or more like thought off, and I just need to start cadding) larger versions of Thuggers that transform into something else as it doesn't make sense for them to transform into cassettes that don't fit in Soundwave. These versions will have more play value as they will be cyberverse sizes and *might* be compatible with weapons of that scale as well.

As for 'extra toys'...I leaning towards seeing what other artists come up with. My output is only so much :(

You've got some great work here, but 3-D renders go in Fan Art. When you have physical copies of your work, feel free to post another thread in Customs.

Also, if you can always manage orders in the Commissioners Listing and Feedback forum :thumb

Keep up the great work! :thumb

As per our pms, yep I'll be posting a specific new thread in the Radicons forum when the Thuggers become available.

Thanks guys! Sorry to take so long to reply with real life getting in the way and all...

Well, I was just informed that the test batch of Thuggers are produced and have just shipped! They will be here within the next week or so. I can't wait.
Bar any major changes once I ensure the quality of the sculpt is good, they will be immediately made available for sale!

Some changes I'm working on now:
    - I'm enlarging the lower arms so that their hands can hold onto mechtech weapons with 2.5mm posts. This doesn't affect transformation, but the lower arms and fists may look too thick for taste. In the end I may just include both set of arms for the buyer to decide.

    - The sockets are modified to allow the cannons to be mounted forward and backwards, so they can be mounted on the arms in reverse and act as piledrivers.

As I'm at work now (oops) I'll put up pictures later in the evening...

    Other projects I'm working on:
    - ROTF Leader Starscream hands (posable)
    - Classics Hot Rod hands (posable)

    Stay tuned folks!
